På senare år har klimatoron tilltagit i världen, ökade utsläpp av växthusgaser och stigande medeltemperaturer har fått ett stort utrymme på den politiska agendan. För att möta oron har man inom Europeiska Unionen enats om ett antal klimatmål som skall uppfyllas till år 2020. Sverige har under lång tid förlitat sig på skogsindustrin och därigenom byggt upp en stark industri och forskningsverksamhet. Skogsbaserad bioenergi står idag för 90 % av den bioenergi som förbrukas i Sverige. Råvaruöverskottet finns idag i norrlands inland men det stora behovet finns i storstadsregionerna i södra Sverige. Det finns dock vissa problem med transport och lagring av skogsbaserad biomassa och behovet av innovationer är därför stort. Torrefiering är en förädlingsmetod där energidensiteten höjs och lagringsegenskaperna förbättras genom rostning av biomassa i en syrefrimiljö. Syftet med denna studie är att utifrån ett företagsekonomiskt perspektiv undersöka potentialen hos torrefierad pellets under svenska förhållanden. I vår investeringskalkyl framgår det att break even-punkten för priset för torrefierad pellets är 367,55 kr/MWh. Känslighetsanalysen uppvisar att råvarukostnaden har störst påverkan på nettonuvärdet, följt av driftskostnaden och pris som hade samma påverkan, därefter kommer räntan och sist investeringskostnaden. Våra beräkningar visar att det finns en skillnad i tågtransportkostnad mellan torrefierad pellets och konventionell pellets per transporterad MWh.

The aim of this study is to analyze Hinduism in upper secondary school textbooks using a gender-based perspective. The specific material used consists of four textbooks, whereof two are published prior to the curriculum Lgy 11 and two are published after Lgy 11. In order to analyze the textbooks the following methods are used: content analysis, picture analysis and comparative analysis. First, the contents and pictures of the textbooks are analyzed using theories on gender. After this analysis the results are compared to the relevant curriculum and its guidelines for the analyzed subject.

Purpose/Aim: This study is an analysis of the view on masculinity, male sexuality and creation of identity with the television series Queer as folk as a base. The analysis is partly based on a semiotic analysis of the representation of masculinity and male sexuality from an episode of the chosen television series Queer as folk, and partly based on a thematic analysis of focus group discussions with young men with different sexualities.Material/Method: This study is based on focus group interviews and a semiotic and thematic analysis. The focus groups consisted of three men in three different groups and were chosen on the criteria of gender and sexuality. All groups were presented with an episode of the television series Queer as folk to see how they perceived masculinity and male sexuality. Their discussions were analyzed with a thematic analysis and the television series Queer as folk with a semiotic analysis.Main results: The three analyzed characters in Queer as folk showed different representations of masculinity and male sexuality.

En säker bakteriediagnostik kräver en korrekt provtagningsteknik, ett lämpligt transportsätt och rätt odlingsteknik. På grund av centralisering av verksamheter och ekonomiska begräsningar, är transport av prover till mikrobiologilaboratorium mycket vanligt. Detta medför behov av ett transportmedium som håller känsliga bakterier vid liv under långa transport- och förvaringstider. This study concerns how Muslims are portrayed in a choice of twelve news articles from Swedish dailies and tabloid newspapers on the aftermath of the film Innocence of Muslims published on YouTube. All articles are distributed in the newspapers Aftonbladet, Expressen, Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet in the period of September 11th, 2012 until September 30th, 2012.For this study, a qualitative text analysis has been embraced and focus has been on van Dijk?s Critical discourse analysis to the texts, with additional features from semiotics applied on the images.The theories consist of Critical discourse analysis, hegemony, ideology and power, postcolonialism and stereotyping.In the qualitative content analysis, concrete examples from the articles are retrieved and commented. These have been divided into various themes, which are trends that the authors have been able to distinguish in the analysis.The result shows that Muslims in the analyzed newspapers are portrayed as the others, unimportant and extremely religious, in a negative manner rather than a positive. Moreover the press has tendencies to generalize Muslims as a group.

When the city of Umeå developed their platform, they identified decision makers and investors as one of four important target groups.The aim of this study is to explore the portrayed image of the city of Umeå in two Swedish trade journals which addresses the specific target group decition makers and investors in both public and private sector. The aim is also to compare the image of Umeå in the two papers, to the ambition of the municipality, expressed in the brand platform.In order to make the observations as firmly established as possible, the method of the study is a combination of a quantitative content analysis and a qualitative text analysis. The study draws on the theories of Eli Avraham and Philip Kotler, concerning how to improve city images and how to market a specific city among others. The study shows that the city of Umeå in large extent is portrayed in accordance to the ambition which the municipality expressed in the brand platform.Umeå is displayed as an expanding city.

Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to examine how students who also serve as writers of bachelor theses mainly utilizing the discourse analysis methodology comprehend the method of discourse analysis, and in what way the students bestow it in their research.Methodology and Material: This is a case study of the theses, which are also the text material, as it can be used examining numerous cases. Another beneficial factor is the relationship to the theoretical framework. I denna rapport undersöks hur mängden organiskt kol, TOC (Totalt organiskt kol), varierar i tid och rum i Mälarens avrinningsområde, samt vad det är som styr TOC-halten i Mälaren. Det är viktigt att förstå dynamiken hos TOC i Mälaren och i dess avrinningsområde eftersom ökat TOC i vattnet påverkar vattenkvaliteten och orsakar problem vid beredning av dricksvatten. TOC kan bland annat reagera med klor/UV-ljus och bilda cancerframkallande ämnen. Det kan också öka antal mikrober i vattnets distributionssystem.Arbetet omfattar analys av samband mellan elementen, transportberäkningar per ytenhet av elementen till Mälaren och en modelleringsansats för ett av avrinningsområdena. Rapporten innehåller även en jämförelse mellan de olika vattenföringsmodellerna samt uppmätt vattenföring för analys av eventuella systematiska skillnader mellan dessa som påverkar beräkningen av TOC och de andra elementens transport till Mälaren.Analysen av sambanden mellan variablerna TOC (mg/l), kaliumpermanganat förbrukning (KMnO4, mg/l), absorbans_F (F=filtrerad), järn (mg/l), mangan (mg/l) och SO4_IC (sulfat mätt med hjälp av jonkromatografi, mg/l), visade att vissa av dessa variabler är korrelerade med varandra.

CTI- Central Tire Inflation är ett styr- och reglersystem som möjliggör att justera lufttrycket i däcken under färd på virkeslastbilar för att anpassa det till aktuell last och hastighet. Genom att köra med ett lägre däcktryck på virkesfordon är det möjligt att minska kostnaden för skogsbilvägar. SCA Skog vill skapa en CTI-strategi som ska innehålla handlingsplaner för hela kedjan från planering till transport. År 2009 minskade investeringsanslagen för vägar inom SCA Skog och Medelpads skogsförvaltning började bygga vägar som trafikeras av CTI-utrustade fordon. Syftet med arbetet är att utvärdera användningen av CTI åt SCA skog vid Medelpads skogsförvaltning. Datainsamlingen utgjordes av intervjuer med personer vid SCA som har arbetat med CTI någon gång sedan införandet. Totalt intervjuades elva personer. Ett arbetssätt för CTI identifierades.

This paper addresses the role of homework within the home and school environments using a qualitatively approach inspired by discourse analysis method and theory. The paper considers three newspaper articles to identify current attitudes and understanding regarding homework?s role. The paper?s structure brings results and analysis together allowing the discussion to be continuously extended and deepened.
