This thesis aims to study the impact of the Transition from communism to democracy on the public libraries in Poland. The central areas of study are changes in: the organisation of the public library system, the role of the public library in society, the librarian's daily work and job situation and collection development. The thesis is based on qualitative interviews with public librarians, public library managers and researchers in Warsaw, Torun and Gdansk. The theoretical background consists of chapters outlining thoughts on democratic and communist library ideas and public libraries' responses to a changing society. The results show that the public library system has been affected by two major decentralisation reforms in Poland, leaving the libraries in the care of local governments.

Ett yrke till sjöss innebär växelvisa borta/hemma perioder vilket innebär en speciell situation för sjöfararen när det gäller att förena yrke och familjeliv. Detta avlösningssystem kan även antas få konsekvenser för den som lever tillsammans med en sjöfarare. Mot denna bakgrund var syftet med denna undersökning att belysa på vilket sätt avlösningssystemet kan påverka partners vardag och relationen till sjöfararen. Undersöknigen omfattar fem semistrukturerade intervjuer med fem kvinnor till svenska sjöfarare. En kvalitativ medtod användes eftersom jag ville förstå och beskriva respondenten personliga upplevelser och erfarenheter.

In subsequent to Post-colonialism the African nations have dilated into different political directions. While some nations have established well-functioning democracies, others are still under authoritarian regimes. The aim of this thesis is to examine if civil society has an impact on democratic development in West Africa. Therefore the theoretical starting point is Putnam?s theory of social capital, but this study will also examine other possible causal explanations for democratic Transition.This study will be based on a comparative analysis of Ghana and Guinea.

The aim of this essay is to examine three separate Swedish public libraries and their respective websites on the grounds of the usability sciences. I firstly had to summarize the main properties of the usability-field in order to gain an extended knowledge of its purposes and possible usage for today?s library systems. I was then able to apply the extended knowledge in the examination of the three library websites and the purpose of determining whether or not they were designed according to the standards set by the usability-sciences.Usability is a rather new science that deals with the dissection and examination of computer-based systems, in order to find the key components that make systems user-friendlier. With user needs being the main focus of its research, usability tries to meet all the different needs of the modern user and construct systems that are less system-centered and more user-centered.

IASB is currently working with the replacement of IAS 39 Financial Instruments: Recognition and Measurement. The new standard IFRS 9 Financial Instruments is said to be based on principles as opposed to the more rules-based IAS 39. This thesis examines the third phase of the project regarding micro hedge accounting. The expressed goal from IASB is to provide more useful hedge accounting information by reducing complexity of the standard. To examine the potential effects of the Transition from the rules based IAS 39 to the more principles based IFRS 9, we have performed a case study on a major Swedish bank.

Climate on earth is getting warmer, which effects earth?s energy balance and so forth the ocean and atmospheric circulation.  In many sub-polar regions on the northern hemisphere changes due to warming of the climate can be observed. Some examples that already have been observed are shifts in tree line, towards higher altitudes and latitudes, increased ablation of Swedish glaciers and melting of the permafrost on the Siberian tundra. In Sweden climate change scenarios tell us that it will become warmer and that a higher amount of precipitation in form of rain will be an effect from this. To study climate changes in Sweden, Transition zones are useful in order to observe changes in distribution of species and animal populations.

Det lilla ryska länet Kalingrad situerat vid Östersjön, kom efter Sovjetunionens fall att hamna i en exklavstatus då området kom att gränsa till Polen och Litauen, Kaliningrad blev en ö utan någon direkt landförbindelse med Ryssland. När EU utvidgas att omfatta Polen och de tre Baltiska staterna kommer området att bli en enklav i EU. Den Postkommunistiska tiden har för Kaliningrad bland annat inneburit en ökande fattigdom, stigande arbetslöshet och en okontrollerad gränshandel, med omfattande smuggling som följd. Denna uppsats syfte är att undersöka åtta redan givna utvecklingslinjer för Kaliningrad, vilka beskrevs år 1996 av docent Jurij M. Swerew vid Kaliningrads Universitet vilka sammanförts till tre huvudalternativ: ryskt styre, Transition och autonomi.

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva hur patienter medkronisk sjukdom bemästrar sin livssituation och hur sjuksköterskan kan stödja/hjälpa dem attuppnå högre livskvalitet. Egenvård är en viktig del i patientens vardag och genom att engagerapatienten i vården blir han/hon mer trygg i sig själv och kan leva ett bra liv trots en långvarigsjukdom. Uppsatsen är en litteraturstudie som bygger på elva artiklar och dessa har sökts fram pådatabaserna CINAHL och PubMed. Metoden som använts för att bearbeta artiklarna är induktivanalys.

In a world characterized by increasing sustainability challenges, organizations are continuously facing new demands; creating new requirements of change management and incorporation of new strategic decisions. Today, organizations are responding to the emergence of new sustainability directives and regulations at a EU level, whence the latest sustainability framework CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), becomes particularly relevant. Companies are therefore facing the challenge of integrating strategic management in their navigation, preparation and maneuvering of new directives; a Transition that requires new strategic decisions and adaptations. The purpose of this study is to qualitatively examine how CSRD affects organizations in terms of corporate changes, operational adaptations and strategic decisions, as well as what capabilities are essential to incorporate. The study also aims to investigate relevant challenges and opportunities associated with the new directive.

The scope of this investigation is the conditions under which readings of Repulsion (1965), and its depicted mental illness, took place in Sweden during the censorship debates in 1965, and also how the reception was related to narration and subjectivity in the film. The reason for this is the strong reactions to the images of the main character?s inner state, and concerns about negative effects in the public, that were raised. One major concern is how the film articulates discourses through which meanings are produced; that is, how it works as social technology. My thesis is therefore structured around two levels; textual analysis and discourse analysis.

Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka hur en entreprenör/ kreatör produktplacerar i bästa mån för att överleva i modebranschen. Metod: Kvalitativ med intervjuer som bas för empirin. Slutsats: Med hjälp av en positioneringsmodell kan entreprenören/kreatören ta ställning till sina konkurrenter och placera sin produkt till den tänkta målgruppen. Teorin hjälper företagare att strukturera upp en annars komplex hantering som i nystartade företag ?bara sker?.

Syftet med den här studien är att undersöka hur äldre människor hanterar övergången från arbetsliv till att bli pensionär. Undersökningen avser att besvara ett antal frågeställningar. Den första är att besvara hur individen hanterar pensionsövergången. Den andra frågeställningen är att besvara om det finns en relation mellan hur individen hanterar pensionsövergången och ett salutogent perspektiv utifrån Antonovskys teori, KASAM. Den tredje frågan som undersökningen ämnar besvara är hur individen upplever rollskiftet som uppstår när hon går i pension, då främst utifrån begreppen rollförväntningar, rollförlust samt rollkonflikt.

This study explores women?s experiences of the impact of remote work on work-life balance, and the potential consequences of telecommuting from a gender equality perspective. This investigation is contextualized by societal shifts post-pandemic, during which remote work has become increasingly prevalent. This Transition raises new questions about the impact of home-based work on individuals? work-life balance, particularly for women who, according to prior studies, carry a greater responsibility for household tasks.

West Pokot County is located in North Western part of Kenya where the previous lifestyle was nomadic pastoralism. However, in recent years the semi-arid county has been under dramatic developments and a sedentary agro-pastoral lifestyle is now growing. This is a major change in production systems and there is a big knowledge gap especially for the livestock based agro-pastoral systems. The main objective of this study was to investigate the current situation of animal husbandry in West Pokot. Twenty farmers were interviewed in Chepareria Division, using semi-structured interviews to investigate if the use of enclosures have had any effect on animal husbandry in West Pokot and if so, how have this method affected the animal husbandry? The results of the study indicated that there is a difference in animal husbandry between farms using enclosures and farms not using enclosures.
