This study is on how small companies can use the Internet as a part of their marketing strategy to gain a leverage on their competitors with small means to survive and expand in the global market. Many Swedish small companies still don?t have a sufficient knowledge on how to use the communication channel despite the various advantages the Internet offers.Case studies were conducted of how AdLibris, A-lotterierna AB and SF-bokhandeln perceived the importance of using the Internet as a part of their communications strategy.This new communication channel demand new ways of applying traditional marketing principals. Careful analysis of the interviews and how the answers relate to new and old marketing theories makes the bulk of this study. The conclusion is that the Internet solely is not enough, a combination with traditional marketing tools is the way to succeed in their marketing efforts.

Title: A study of how active therapist talks about the FMT method. FMT-therapists use music as a means of communication. The method is non verbal and uses musical codes to create a framework for the apprentice. The instruments that are being used are piano, drums, a variety of flutes and whistles. The FMT-method is a musical form of therapy that targets all functional disabilities.

In this thesis I am going to study how women experience working in a male-dominated occupation and how men experience working in a female-dominated occupation. I have chosen a qualitative method, interviewing four women and four men. By using this method I have gained a deeper understanding of what it is like having a non-traditional occupation. In the background I have looked into the unequal distribution of power between the sexes as well as the entrance of women on the labour-market, where the law of equality has had a major impact on the strive towards a more equal distribution according to sex. The theoretical part includes different theories where gender is focused, both when it comes to the biological differences as well as the segregation of sexes that prevails in society and here socialization heavily influences the choice of a vocation.

Koloni is a concert promoter that put up shows in lots of different locationswith a wide variety of music styles and artistic expressions. In this work I havecollected material from Koloni?s nine years of existence to form a volume. Thevolume tells the story of Koloni?s work, but also shed some light and understandingon the alternative cultural scene of today.

Syftet med undersökningen är att få en uppfattning om vilka matematiska aktiviteter som genomförs och kan genomföras under sångstunder på förskolor i Sverige och om de genomförs på ett sätt så att barnen arbetar mot målen i läroplanen. Detta eftersom mycket forskning tyder på att mycket matematikinlärning kan ske under sångstunder/musiklektioner. Teori och forskning säger att musik kan utveckla matematiken hos barn på många olika sätt. Min metod var att observera en sångstund på tre förskolor i en kommun och därefter intervjua förskollärarna som höll i sångstunderna. Resultatet visade att lärarna använde en hel del matematik under sångstunderna som det är, några mer medvetna om det än andra. Det visades även att pedagogerna anser att matematiken passar bra ihop med musik. Jag kan se vilka matematiska och musikaliska aktiviteter som genomfördes. Min önskan är att pedagoger ska ge barnen mycket matematikkunskaper under en sångstund.

The purpose of this thesis was to examine if users of digital music games may acquire skills from the games that may be of use in learning to play a real instrument, that is a non-digitally simulated instrument like an acoustic piano. We have used Gee?s theory regarding a possible interconnection between different semiotic domains, and how this connection may enable a transfer of skills between related domains. In this thesis we examine possible skill transfer between the domains ?digital games? and ?non-digital instruments?. To examine our question formulation we chose to conduct a pilot study from which we collected both quantitative and qualitative data.

In an ever-changing environment, companies cannot merely focus on traditional risks, which include financial and insurable risks. To maintain competitiveness, companies need to extend their risk management to include all risks, traditional as well as operational and strategic risks. Purpose: The purpose is to describe and position risk management for Telecom operators, in comparison with the risk management literature, with regards to structure, processes, learning process, visions and benefits. In addition, our aim is to link risk management perspectives with the different strategies for knowledge management.

Problem statement and purpose:The purpose of this study was to analyze in what way first-time voters chose to take part of political information. The questions we aimed to answer was how first-time voters use media and other information channels for political purposes, what importance and trust the first-time voters give the different information channels and finally which indicators there is for that structural or individual factors affect the media consumption and political interest.Method and material:We did interviews with twelve 18 years old first-time voters from six different high school programs in Sundsvall, Sweden.Results:The study showed that the premier source of political information were traditional news media, in particular the debates on TV. It?s also in the debates the first-time voter?s trust the most. Even though the social medias are constantly present in their everyday life and even though the first-time voters believe the social medias have potential for engaging young people politically, the possibilities are only taken in advantage by people who are already politically interested.

Det övergripande syftet med denna studie är att utveckla kunskap och få en ökad förståelse av musikskolan El Sistemas verksamhet i Sverige med utgångspunkt i en av El Sistemaskolorna i Göteborg. Det har varit av vikt att utforska huruvida El Sistemas arbetssätt och metoder är någonting utöver vad som kan sägas vara ?vanlig? musikundervisning i musik- och kulturskola. Därför har det även varit väsentligt att sätta sig in i skolans bakomliggande idéer och förutsättningar. Studiens teoretiska ram är inspirerad av sociokulturell teori och genomförandet av etnografisk metod. Resultaten har dock främst framkommit genom kvalitativa intervjuer med fyra pedagoger och sex elever.

Cloud computing diskuteras överallt trots det finns det fortfarande ingen gemensam syn på vad det egentligen är. Om tio specialister inom området fick frågan vad cloud computing innebär skulle tio olika svar ges. Om en definition på cloud görs har den inte en likadan betydelse som begreppet cloud computing. A film can attract all kinds of emotions and moods of the audience through its audiovisual communications and cinematic expression, in which music plays a significant role in both understanding and interpretation of film content.It is interesting to explore the musical significance and the emotional aspect of the film out of a media and communications perspective and visual communications perspective because it?s a subject that belongs to the communications of scientific discipline as film is a media text which is working both as communicative and as audio-visual medium with its expressive aspects.The purpose of this bachelor?s paper is to increase and deepen the understanding of music's function and significant role in context with its reinforcing sense of visual expression in film. More specifically, it aims to explore the musical value of the expressive aspect of the media text in form of film musical Les Misérables (2012), which has been transmedialised from the novel of the same name, referring to the sound, music and song in relation to the film's visual expression.The research questions are at the core of the essay study: "how is music used to reinforce the cinematic visual expression?" and "how can music signify the narrative and highlight the emotional aspect of the film?" The theoretical framework is based on some of the key scholars assumptions such as Michel Chion (1994) and Claudia Gorbman (1987), who share the same theoretical views that the soundtrack seems powerful when it expresses its participation in a scene?s emotional moods as the music follows the scene?s rhythm, the image?s flow and contributes emotional and musical codes of emotions and expressions. According to Chion sound and image interact together to tell a story where sound enrich the image with expressive and informative values.

This essay examines the epideictic genre by using qualitative method to analyze acceptance speeches from the Swedish Grammy awards. These speeches and their speakers are often described as rhetorically mediocre and there seems to be a notion within the music community that an acceptance speech is personal and without deeper meaning. From a functionalistic perspective on genre, these speeches can be seen as working together with other genres that carry information about the winners. Why would skilled performers who know how to entertain an audience choose to repeat rhetorical mistakes? This essay uses different perspectives on rhetorical situation and genre as well as multimodal analysis of verbal- and nonverbal communication, to argue that these particular speeches in this particular situation come with their own set of expectations and values that the speakers have to acknowledge if they are to meet the epideictic purpose: To unite the audience around common values and create an enjoyable collective memory.

This study focuses on a specific organization of a Security Operations Center (SOC) as a case studyto first identify specific challenges related to the work process, preceding with identifying whichprinciples from various process models, such as agile and traditional methodologies from softwaredevelopment companies, can be implemented. Initially, the study presents relevant research on agile and traditional process models as well asresearch on SOC. Subsequently, six semi-structured interviews are planned and conducted withemployees within a specific SOC-type organization to identify the current work process and thechallenges affecting the organization?s work process. The results of this study indicate a description of the current work process in the organization aswell as a variety of challenges related to technical and organizational issues.
