The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to examine the portrayals of class in four Swedish contemporary novels that have been mentioned as working class literature in the literary public sphere. During the 20th century, society has undergone vast changes due to globalization and technology development. The rise in standards of living for most people in the Western societies has led to changed consumption patterns. In consequence, there has been increased emphasis given to cultural rather than materialist explanations of social stratification.

The Go Down Arts Centre is a proposal for a new building to an existing organisation in Nairobi, Kenya. The proposal relates to the scale of the city by making a statement on a future urban path, and by welcoming the city in to the building. The proposal houses both activities affiliated to Go Down, such as studios and rehersal rooms, as well as opportunities for the visitor to meet and interact with the culture produced at Go Down, both in formal and informal settings. The building is closed to its surroundings, apart from a grand entrance towards the urban path. There, the city passes through the building to an inner courtyard, where the communication to all the rooms and activities takes place.

This essay is a comparative study on Migration period ring forts, centered on Sandbyborg, a ringfort situated on the southeastern shore of the Baltic island of Öland.Furthermore this essay focuses on the contemporary Iron Age society, and thestrategical implications of the ringforts in their function as fortifications. Denna studie undersöker ett antagande om att konst är bra för hälsan. I Sverige finns en tradition av att använda och producera bilder i vårdsammanhang men ingen traditionsbunden forskning eller utbildning för att utvärdera detta. Vem säger att bildskapandet är hälsosamt, och vilka argument används för att styrka detta?Vad sägs egentligen om bildskapande verksamhet och hälsa, av i första hand pedagogerna själva, men även av verksamheterna i deras informationstexter? Genom att använda diskursanalys som verktyg har jag samlat in och bearbetat material som består av institutionernas publicerade material samt transkriberade intervjuer med tre pedagoger. Mitt syfte är att undersöka talet om hälsoeffekter av konst bland i första hand pedagogerna själva från utvalda institutioner som på olika sätt arbetar hälsofrämjande.Studien är etnografisk kvalitativ.Resultaten visade att pedagogerna beskrev sinsemellan liknande observationer gällande konstens påverkan och klientens reaktioner, kommunicerande och producerande av bilder.

This paper is about how the contemporary discourses on the slut in various ways discuss sluttyness, and what consequences these discussions may be for those who see themselves as sluts. The study is based on five electronic interviews, conducted via instant messaging, with five people who consider themselves to be dealing with sluthood and that, according to their own definitions, identify themselves as sluts. My conclusion is that sluttyness, when given the opportunity to be discussed and problematized, visualizes power and normative systems between sluts. This means that sluttyness is more complex than only influenced by patriarchal oppression and hierarchy of femininity, as I show through an intersectional conscious analysis.  .

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka och belysa om, och i så fall hur, invandrarbarn uppväxta i Sverige med rötter i muslimska länder, påverkas av mellanförskap och hur de skapar identitet utifrån detta. Frågorna jag valt för att uppnå syftet är: Vad innebär det för invandrarbarn med rötter i muslimska länder att växa upp i det svenska samhället? Tillkommer det speciella faktorer i identitetsbildandet mellanförskapsbarn med mus¬limsk tradition i förhållande till etniskt svenska barn? Hur upplever mellanförskapsbarn den dubbla tillvaron och sin identitet? Hur ska skolan på bästa sätt kunna undervisa samt tillgodose behoven hos mellanförskapsbarn med muslimsk tradition? Metoden jag använder för att illustrera syftet är av en kvalitativ ansats där det empiriska materialet består av fyra intervjuer med mellanförskapsbarn med muslimsk bakgrund. I studiens teoretiska del har jag vetenskaplig litteratur som grund för att vidare kunna i resultat¬analysen diskutera de olika faktorer som belyser problemställningen. Resultatet i denna studie påvisar att det förkommer speciella problem baserade på den dubbla tillvaron och att identitetsskapandet påverkas av detta.

The purpose of this essay is to investigate and discuss the current state of game research and its potential usage in didactic situations. The essay is divided in two parts. Part one consists of an attempt to comment preceding contemporary game research and address possible myths that have been established. Part two aims to discuss games narrative capacity and function in education using the theories and terms laid down by Wolfgang Iser and Gérard Genette.Contemporary game research tends to focus on classic retro games, trying to form theories for a general understanding of the media. This is a useful method as long as the purpose of the study is to define how game mechanics and layout are formed.

Suicide research has a long tradition within sociology. Parallel to the Durkheimian tradition, seeking the causes of suicide in societal factors, a more cultural understanding of suicide has been emphasized. Attitudes to suicide have been stressed as important for the understanding of suicide mortality levels in different societies. For Russia, where suicide mortality levels are among the highest in the world, an understanding of this kind might be of particular importance.Based on a survey study from Moscow 2004, attitudes to suicide were studied in relation to social, economic and demographic factors as well as to attitudes to other morally disputable behaviors. Suicide attitudes in different age and sex groups in the sample were further compared to suicide mortality levels in the corresponding groups in the population.

The purpose of this study is examine how Afghan women experience leadership in Afghanistan and how they perceive their existence and involvement in the country?s development?s process. The study is limited to the women leadership and its diffculties in the afghan culture, tradition and religion. Based on men?s and women?s perspective, I want to examine how they look at women?s leadership and its different problem in the afghan society.

With examples from a single classroom situation, several educational moments show what goes on between the teacher and the student. The teacher?s responsibility in the learning process is, with a gesture frozen in the air of the moment, to lead and follow the student in her tentative efforts at seeking knowledge. Initially, it is an attempt to shed light upon the "not yet seen" with a certainty that the student herself possesses the capacity and the aptitude to reach greater insight and clarity in her understanding. The Validation/Feil Method presented in this instructional situation illustrates how best to communicate with elderly people suffering from Alzheimer?s dementia.

This study critically reviews four works of the artist Joanna Rytel with the intention to find out if and how she is provocative. In order to do that I have studied the reactions on these works, mainly through press material, which differs from letters to the editors and comments posted on discussion forums that's also been used. My conclusion is that Rytel provokes not just because of her choice of subject, but because of her concept of 'art' doesn't agree with the general public's, i.e. 'art' is supposed to be something merely beautiful. The journalists sometimes seems provoked by Rytel's ability to draw attention and have claimed that to be her main aim..

Syfte. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka rektorers syn på elevinflytande och uppdraget att verka för demokratiska arbetsformer. Jag ville också undersöka hur rektorerna ser på vilka möjligheter och/eller hinder till elevinflytande som kan finnas och dessutom relationen mellan elevinflytande och det faktum att vi har skoltvång. Utifrån dessa frågeställningar ville jag också försöka ta reda på vilken kompetens och vilka egenskaper lärare kan anses behöva för att arbeta med elevens reella inflytande. Metod.

This report describes the process of outlining a design proposal for a resource planning tool for TV post-production. A feasibility study in form of a participant observation has been carried out on-site, which has resulted in a requirement specification. Based on the requirement specification, mockups have been created to illustrate the functions and features that a final planning tool should have. In addition to developing a design proposal, an evaluation of the existing resource planning tool Ganttic has been conducted. Ganttic has been reviewed based on how well it meets the list of requirements.
