Mastceller har visat sig vara viktiga celler i immunförsvaret bland annat vid infektioner med parasiter, bakterier och virus. Huvuddelen av mastcellsforskningen som kommit fram till detta har gjorts med däggdjur som modell- och måldjur. Många likheter finns mellan fåglars och däggdjurs immunsystem men några viktiga olikheter förekommer både anatomiskt, på cellnivå, receptornivå och molekylär nivå. Detta väcker frågor om mastcellerna har exakt samma funktion hos fåglar som de har hos däggdjur. Slemhinneskadorna som uppstår hos fåglar infekterade med de två virussjukdomarna Newcastlesjuka och Infektiös bursit har visat sig till stor del bero på mastcellsaktivering.

Denna rapport undersöker en frågeställning som kom upp efter virusutvecklingen som skedde 2004 med illasinnad kod som spreds mellan mobila enheter via Bluetooth. Rapporten undersöker vilka hot som finns om Smartphones och handdatorer sprider illasinnad kod via Bluetooth till datorbaserade system.Undersökningen som gjordes var en hermeneutisk explorativ undersökning. Sammanlagt gjordes tre intervjuer med experter inom områdena informationssäkerhet, mobila enheter och Bluetooth.Resultatet visade att illasinnad kod i Smartphones och handdatorer som sprids till datorbaserade system skulle kunna utgöra samma hot mot informationssäkerheten som traditionell illasinnad kod, det vill säga virus, maskar och trojaner som sprids mellan datorer. Därmed bör den illasinnade kod som rapporten behandlar betraktas lika allvarligt som traditionell illasinnad kod..

The bacterium Bacillus subtilis has proved promising as a biocontrol agent (BCA) in suppressing various plant diseases and it has also been shown to promote plant growth in certain cases. The purpose of this essay is to study the film culture in South Africa in a national cinema-context, focusing on the relationship between anti-apartheid film from 1974-1994 and the film in South Africa today. By pitching the South Africa-specific works of Lucia Saks and Jacqueline Maingard against the over-arching debate on national cinema as formulated by, amongst others, Stephen Crofts and Andrew Higson, this study aims to find whether or not a specific South African national cinema have existed, and exists today, or not. The study finds that an underground culture of documentaries and short films made by and for the black population has been in place since the apartheid, and the distribution method on video and television is still being used to reach the black population today. By re-examining the concepts of both the national, and of national cinema to also include film on video and television, the study shows that South Africa has indeed a film culture that can be called a national cinema..

Vi undersöker även huruvida historisk Volatilitet (HV) kan ge en prognos överlägsen estimatet av realiserad jämfört med implicit volatilitet (IV). Vidare ser vi på om detta eventuella samband skiljer sig åt mellan olika konjunkturlägen.EMPIRI: Studien visar att IV är ett bättre mått på framtida volatilitet än HV. Ingen skillnad kan skönjas mellan koefficienterna i uppgångs- resp. nedgångsperioder.

Färdplan Flen är ett utvecklingsprojekt som drivs av Flens kommun och beräknas vara klart år2019. Den negativa utvecklingen inom kommunen med ett allt mer sjunkande befolkningsantal som i sin tur genererar mindra skatteintäkter har gjort att Färdplan Flen inrättats. I projektet ligger ett antal delprojekt som bland annat handlar om ortsutveckling och där har kommunen redan börjat arbeta med Malmköping som ett första steg. Ett annat delprojekt är Flen 2019 som handlar om att Flens kommun 2012 ska vara klara med en vision som kommer att arbetas fram under 2011 och vara verkställd 2019.I dagsläget arbetas det också på att skapa mer delaktighet mot invånarna och de anställda inom kommunen. Färdplan Flen är intresserad av Open Space och ska utföra workshops med detta tema för att få in invånarnas åsikter.

Denna studie är genomfört som ett undervisningsförsök, där formativ bedömning har imple­menterats i matematikundervisning. Syftet med studien var att studera om det var möjligt att förändra undervisningen på denna korta tid samt om eleverna blev mer motiverade och om de upplevde mer lust till ämnet genom denna undervisningsstrategi. Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) is a root crop that plays an important role in many households in Africa. It is sometimes called ?Africa´s food insurance?. The advantages with the crop are that cassava is drought-resistant and it can grow in a semi-dry land. It is a perennial crop and does not require much labor.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects on a simulated wastewater plant regarding GHG emissions and use of energy and resources when implementing source separated wastewater systems. The effects were studied for different restrictions of effluent quality and for different temperatures on the influent. The simulation model BSM2G calibrated for Käppala wastewater treatment plant was used. The task was executed by simulating nine different scenarios with an increase in influent load from new connections equivalent to 3, 10 and 30 % of the present connections. These new connections were served by conventional, urine separated or black water separated systems.

Competence is a complex concept that encompasses many facets. This study aims fora better understanding of the concept. Many branches of business administration science would benefit from a better understanding of competence and, through that understanding, find solutions where competence is one of many variables. By combining a positivistic and phenomenological approach, this study has created a broader understanding of the concept of competence.The study combines systematic study of the relevant literature with in-depth interviewswith people representing both the employer and the union within the staffing company world.The results show that quantifying competence is a complex and next to impossible task, as it would involve including the whole concept of competence in the calculations. When this is done, the phenomenon itself becomes so complex that it loses its validity.This is why theorists who want to perform this type of calculations put most of the competence complexity in ?the black box?.
