A thesis directed towards Innovationsslussen in Gothenburg about securing, improving and simplifying sitting on the Toilet for patients with sitting difficulties. The primary target group for the project is patients who have had a stroke and as a consequence from that suffers from various kind of bodily paralysis.An overall goal was to design an aid that was comprehensive enough that the patient could manage sitting securely on the Toilet without have a nurse giving physical support during defecation.Five conceptual proposals were developed and evaluated in consultation with Innovationsslussen and one was selected to be further developed.The result was an integrated support at the Toilet that facilitates a good sitting posture which minimizes the risk of falling and provides comfortable support when leaning to the side. The product is divided in two with both a redesigned carryingsystem and a new type of support surface adapted for the purpose..

This thesis is performed in cooperation with Prodelox AB and JTI (Swedish Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering). The purpose of the project is to generate and develop a WC-technique with a closet sewer that keeps a higher TS-substance than 1.5 %. The WC-technique is mainly directed towards permanent households in sparsely-populated areas and cabins. The goal is to generate concepts of Toilets with an extremely low use of water in terms of flushing. The design should be appealing and touch more senses than only the visual.

The objective with this project was to design a new lifting aid connected to Toilet chair.A questionnaire distributed at three homes for aged people indicated that there was an interest in a mechatronic lifting device.Since existing products have limited tilting functionality, the new design was chosen to introduce lifting by motorised tilting of the sitting platform. The mechanical construction was analyzed based on a maximum load caused by a person with weight 160 kg. Two linear actuators were used to control the tilting/lifting of the sit ?place, making standing-up easer.Finally, 28 persons tested the new lifting device and gave their impressions. Many appreciated the safe, stable lifting speed.

Jönköping's municipality requested a diploma work witch would present the experiences, as arisen during the existence of the echo village Smeden.To recive information for the background, literature at the university library were searched at the database "Libris" with words like "echo village" and "ecological living".Data was retrieved from 28 questionnaires that were sent out to the inhabitants of the echo village Smeden. The questionnaires contained questions about experiences, opinions, ideas and thoughts about living in this echo village. The results were analyzed and presented by diagrams and tables and showed that the inhabitants where most unsatisfied with the sewer and the system of the Toilet. In the opposite the inhabitants experienced that the remaining systems were in satisfactory and the majority of the inhabitants were very pleased with their living conditions.Conclusions of this study are that an echo village would be a suitable alternative to an ordinary living and that ecological living would be something that would work well even in the future. An important thing to remember is that the systems of the households must be easy for the inhabitants to maintain otherwise the environmental thinking would be in risk of failure if some don?t have the energy to manage this properly..

It is important that the current urine separating systems are evaluated to allow improvements to be made and consequently increase their future propagation. In order to increase the knowledge about urine separating systems this study was made. It included, among other things, measurements of amounts of urine as well as of the composition of urine collected at Nytorgsgatan 4 in the city of Hallsberg. The study was increased after an inquiry that also included the district of Understenshöjden in the city of Stockholm. In the inquiry, the users were asked questions about odour, cleaning of Toilets and occurrence of blockages in the urine water locks etc.

This is made on the basis of the interviews that have been made with the operators of the area and a thought building, and from the existing rules of the performing and designing of a restaurant.The planned restaurant is placed in an area where it today is a public Toilet.

This thesis studies if public libraries in Sweden have taken part ofinformation regarding the Swedish government policy that publicareas are to be made accessible by 2010. Also studied is thesignificance of information and resources on the execution ofaccessibility adaptations at public libraries.The analysis uses Lennart Lundquist?s theory of implementation ofpublic policies, that the person executing the policy needs tounderstand, be able to and want to in order for the policy to besuccessfully executed. The study was carried out through a surveyand the thesis focuses on the factors of understanding and beingable to.The survey was sent by email to all 290 municipal libraries inSweden with an answering frequency of 65%. The results arepresented in table format with explanations.The thesis finds that a clear majority of respondents have hadaccess to information about accessibility adaptations, but thatmuch fewer consider the information clear enough.

Falls and fallinjuries are very common in peoples own homes in various institutions. Hospital inpatients often fall during daytime in connection with their visit to the Toilet. Visual impairment such as cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy can cause falls. The purpose of this study was to examine patient´s records where falls and fallinjuries were documented at an emergency clinic and to examine if they were registered to visual impairment. The records from 68 hospital inpatients from the age of 65 years and older who did fall during the year of 2004, were examined.

Idag spolar den stora majoriteten av alla invånare i Sverige med dricksvattnen i toaletten. Spolning med regnvatten i WC är något som på flera håll i världen används flitigt främst i områden med någon slags vattenbrist. Men i Sverige har regnanvändande anläggningars popularitet inte riktigt slagit igenom ännu. Orsaken till detta kan härledas till flera faktorer. De viktigaste och de som påverkar mest är; den goda tillgången och således låga priset på dricksvatten i Sverige, samt begränsad konkurrens bland företag och återförsäljare vilket ger ett högt investeringspris på regnanvändande anläggningar för konsumenten. Fokus i detta examensarbete ligger på att göra en grundläggande analys av regnvatten och möjligheterna att genom en regnanvändande anläggning kunna använda regnvatten istället för dricksvatten för att spola i toaletten med. Tillvägagångssättet har varit att genom en studie av olika källor sammanställa information relevant till ämnet regnvatten och regnvattenanvändning till WCspolning, följt av en analys och jämförelse av hur ekonomiskt hållbar en regnanvändande anläggning i ett standardhus beläget i Malmö är, i förhållande till samma standardhus med en traditionell dricksvattenförsörjning för WC-spolning. Resultatet av analysen visar tydligt att en regnvattenanvändande anläggning i fallet med standardhuset i dagsläget inte går att rättfärdiga ur ekonomisk synpunkt, men även att det finns möjlighet till en realistisk ekonomisk förtjänst i andra byggnader eller i framtiden..

The built environment should be accessible for everyone. A residence shall be functional without creating a handicap for people who have a disability from birth, caused by an accident or of old age. A residence that is accessible creates equal conditions for everyone.In this report the accessibility of newly built blocks of flats in Uddevalla city from 1990 until today are interpreted. One project that is yet to be built is interpreted and compared with the already existing projects. The apartments of seven projects have been analyzed according to today?s regulations of accessibility.

Bakgrund: Potträningen har de senaste decennierna senarelagts. Svenska barn blir i genomsnitt kontinenta vid tre års ålder trots att barn kan uppnå blåskontroll redan under spädbarnstiden. Sen potträning kan leda till fysiska och psykiska komplikationer. Att potträningen har senarelagts kan bland annat bero på att föräldrar har svårt att bedöma när barn är redo för potträning. Syfte: Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka vilken information som ges kring potträning från BVC (barnavårdscentral) -sjuksköterskor och vad den informationen baserades på.

The task was to design and manufacture a submersible displacement pump working with the wobble plate principle. The main task for the Wobble plate pump is to be used as a sewage pump for smaller households or dewatering pump in environments where small flows and high pressures are acquired. For these purposes ITT Flygt sell a screw pump, PC-Grinder 3068. The hydraulic part of the PC-Grinder is manufactured by a subcontractor. Therefore ITT Flygt wants to evaluate an alternative to their screwpump PC-Grinder, which can be entirely manufactured by them self.

Hos barn med utvecklingsstörning och autism är kontrollen över blåsan och tarmen försenad i varierande grad. Syfte: Att utvärdera hur föräldrars upplevelse av sitt barns förmåga gällande toalettbesök samt blås- ochtarmkontroll har förändrats sedan avslutad föräldracirkel. Metod: Deskriptiv studie. Enkäter till samtliga föräldrar (n=64) som deltagit i föräldracirkeln vid Habiliteringen för barn ochvuxna i Uppsala län, åren 2002-2010. Svarsfrekvensen var 27 av 64 (42 %).
