AbstractThe purpose of this study has been to find out what attitude fifth graders have towards mathematics. This is done to get a better understanding of student?s feelings regarding about mathematics and what it is that makes mathematics fun or boring. My questions have been: What do the students think is fun, boring and difficult about mathematics? How do students think that a good mathematics teacher should be? Do the students see a difference in the mathematics teaching in easy compulsory school years?To find answers to my questions I have looked into prior research on students attitudes towards mathematics.

I studien har två experiment utförts med tyngdpunkt på arbetsminnets komponenter. Experimenten utgår från Baddeleys teori om arbetsminnet som är uppdelat på exekutiva funktioner för kontroll av olika undersystem, en fonologisk loop för auditiv information, ett visuospatialt skissblock för visuell information och en episodisk buffert för integrering av olika typer av information. För att testa dessa komponenter mot varandra utformades ett bildbaserat test för den episodiska bufferten. I experiment 2 ingick även två väletablerade test för kontroll av chunking och Stroop-effekten. Syftet var att kontrollera om det finns något samband mellan den episodiska bufferten och de andra komponenterna i Baddeleys min-nesmodell.

This project was a request of Norrbodal´s Forestry Board, Västra Götaland. It was performed as a qualitative interview analysis of private forest owner?s deficient motivation regarding pre-commercial thinning. The purpose of the project is to investigate what the Forestry Board can do to motivate private forest owners to do more pre-commercial thinning. The results build upon 16 qualitative phone interviews with forest owners that have their forest within the district of Norrbodal. The owners are divided into two groups, the one who have performed the pre-commercial thinning and the one that has possible pre-commercial thinning needs on their properties according to the pre-commercial thinning analysis ,which is the result of a satellite analysis.

I denna rapport presenteras ett förslag på vilken navigeringsmetod som är att föredra vid läsning på en surfplatta, med avseende på läsarens förmåga att i efterhand minnas texten. Resultaten från studiens experiment är värdefulla för de som är intresserade av e-lärande, människa-datorinteraktion och studenter med intresse av att minnas det de läst.Resultat från tidigare forskning indikerar att ett långt textflöde som läsaren skrollar genom är sämre än en statisk navigeringsmetod, där hela sidans text byts ut på samma gång. I denna rapport presenteras resultat från ett experiment som genomfördes på 23 deltagare och som bestod av två minnestester och två enkäter. Dessa resultat stödjer tidigare forskning och det verkar som att gruppen som använt den svepande navigeringsmetoden byggt en bättre mental representation av texten och har en bättre förmåga att återkalla texten från minnet än de grupper som fått läsa med en skrollande navigeringsmetod.Resultaten bör bekräftas av vidare studier men slutsatsen är att en svepande navigeringsmetod är att föredra framför en skrollande vid läsning av textdokument på en surfplatta..

I detta examensarbete undersöks förutsättningarna för intarsiateknikens tillämpbarhet inom tapetserarens arbetsfält. Jag har genom att studera de olika hantverken och teknikerna inom intarsian fått en större kunskap om dessa och kunnat reflektera kring deras användning för tapetseraruppgifter. Efter att ha provat och jämfört olika tekniker, material och tillvägagångssätt och omsatt mina experiment i en sittmöbels klädsel har jag kommit fram till följande:Inget av de olika lädermaterial och limmer jag testat fungerar bättre eller sämre än något annat av dem jag provat. Samtliga fungerar bra på såväl välvda som plana ytor, på hårda såväl som mjuka underlag ? under de förutsättningar jag närmare redogör för i arbetet.Mina experiment, så långt, har också visat att båda de tillvägagångssätt jag valt, utskärning av mönstret för hand respektive laserskärning, är förenade med problem som gör tekniken svår att i dagsläget förena med kravet på arbetsekonomi och precision.

In this essay I have tried to describe the rich tradition of thoughts about the afterlife in Judaism. The first part contains litterary studies and the second part is based on interviews with religious representatives. The first part is a description of the progress of thought in history around the issue afterlife. The sources reveal a vast amount of intellectual work on the issue. I have tried to follow the path of thought, and how it developed, so that the reader can see how one thought leads to the other but also how each period?s way of thinking is influnced by its context.

The purpose of this essay is to examine how high school students (age 13 to 19) search for information on the web and in databases. Furthermore, it aims to look into how critical of sources they are. The questions asked was: how the students search for information in digital media? Which kind of sources do the students use? How they evaluate the information they find? Do they get any education in information retrieval and source evaluation? To answer these questions students were interviewed in groups about their information retrieval behavior. Furthermore two school librarians were interviewed about their experience of the students? information retrieval.During the interviews it was clear that the students had received quite sparse instructions on the subjects of information retrieval and criticism of the sources.

Since the role of the libraries as merely a place for loans has decreased, the importance of giving the visitors a total experience has increased.The aim of my thesis was to investigate whether a change in the sound environment at the library of Jokkmokk could generate more satisfied visitors, whether they are borrowers or use the library for other purposes. The change in the sound environment was to be effected by means of a background sound experiment in the magazine room at the library. Action research was used as a research strategy and observations and interviews as method to collect data.The experiment was conducted with two selected sounds of nature: birdsong and a rippling brook. This thesis has been a part of Forsmarks Kraftgrupp AB's evaluation of a turbulencemodel used in simulation of turbulent flow called PRNS (Partially Resolved NumericalSimulation). This model has promising properties and may be of use in savingcomputational resources. The purpose of this thesis was to analyze this model andcompare it with industrially applied models such as k-omega SST and LES (Large EddySimulations).PRNS works as a hybrid of the k-omega SST and DNS (Direct Numerical Simulation)where a constant, RCP (Resolution Control Parameter) with a value between 0 and 1are selected. This constant is then used in the calculations and determines thebehavior of the simulation. When RCP is set to zero the equation are the same as fora DNS simulation and when RCP is set to one the equations for k-omega SST issolved.

The thesis is a compulsory part of forest engineer program at ?Skogsmästarskolan?, SLU, Skinnskatteberg, Sweden. The purpose of this report is to describe and evaluate an experiment with hybrid larch (Larix x eurolepis) as shelter wood, and different tree species growth and survival depending on the density of the shelter wood. The experiment is conducted by southern Swedish forest research centre, faculty of forestry, SLU in Alnarp. The hybrid larch ought to be an interesting alternative to birch (Betula sp.) as shelterwood on suitable sites in southern Sweden.

A new type of forest tree seedling, called mini seedling, has been developed by the University of Dalarna in Garpenberg, Sweden. Compared to traditional containerized seedlings that are grown for 1 ? 2 years, mini seedlings are grown for only 10 weeks. The mini seedlings are small, easily planted, cost effective, and reduce the amount of chemicals used in the nursery. Research has shown that mini seedlings tend to have higher overall survival rates than traditional container seedlings.
