This thesis is a contribution to the discussion on the public library?s institutional identity in late modernity. The aim is to shed light on the public library?s identity as expressed through its public events. The thesis seeks to answer the following questions: What kind of public events are offered at public libraries? What themes distinguish the content of these events? What characterizes the institutional identity expressed through these events? In addition to the concept of institutional identity, a model of four library spaces, developed by Skot-Hansen, Hvenegaard Rasmussen, and Jochumsen, constitutes the theoretical framework of this thesis.

Skälby park is situated approximately 2,5 km northwest of the central parts of Kalmar and is one of fi ve town part parks. Originally Skälby consisted of a village of four farms. In 1965 the municipality in Kalmar bought Skälby and the agriculture ceased to appear. The land was parcelled out into plots and new roads. Only the area surrounding the old buildings remained, turned to a park.

In my opinion, the city is a place fit as much for children as for grown-ups. I have noticed, however, that this is not a view shared by everyone. Does not the urban space belong as much to children as to other people? Yes, of course. Today and in the future most people will live and grow to be adults in cities. I would even take it as far as to say that without children, there will be no real city.

Vi lever i ett samhälle där det förekommer mycket stress. Barn upplever en ökad stress som kan vara relaterad till minskad fysisk aktivitet på grund av att allt mer av deras fritid ägnas åt tevetittande och dataspel. Detta gör att en dålig vana växer även bland de små barnen, som hellre vill sitta stilla än röra på sig. Utgångspunkten är vikten av att redan i förskolan skapa en önskan hos barnen att komma ut i utomhusmiljö och att de ska tycka att det är roligt och spännande att vara ute. Syftet med studien är att lyfta fram förskolepedagogers yrkesroll för sitt pedagogiska arbete på förskolegården.

This Master Thesis is a product development project that has been carried out in cooperation withLappset Sweden AB.The purpose has been to develop a group of products suited for parks andtraditional playground locations. The specific target area has been courtyards of newly builtresidential areas. (These pieces of open land resemble glades that can be found in the forest,which in Swedish is called ?gläntan? and has given name to the product family). Therefore thedesign should match contemporary architecture.

The town square is an important public space and is often described as the city´s living room. By creating a lively city center a sense of security is developed among the citizens which makes them wanting to use the town square regardless the time of the day. One important meeting point in Gävle is the centrally located Stortorget, sited between Drottninggatan and Nygatan. The town square went through an extensive renovation followed by both positive and negative reactions among the City´s inhabitants.  The aim with the study was to investigate the main walking paths and meeting points as a planning support to Gävle Municipality in their work with a new city plan. By studying the pedestrian movement patterns at Stortorget, Nygatan and Drottninggatan, the main walking paths and meeting points during all hours of the day was obtained.

The harbour in Arvika is closed down and the industry that has been established in the area is now beeing wound up. A deepened comprehensive plan for the area is under progress in the municipality. The intentions are for instance that the harbour should be integrated with the city and that Arvika is facing a lake should be more apparent from the city center. The harbour should also contribute to a more attractive city. These intentions have hence been the starting point of my undergraduate theses, which has resulted in a proposal on how to develop the harbour. During the process I have analysed the city image, how the area is used today and the public places in the city centre.

Problem: Vilka samarbetsfaktorer är viktiga för små svenska Outdoorleverantörer för långsiktig överlevnad på en konkurrensutsatt marknad?Syfte: Att analysera och utvärdera olika samarbetsfaktorer mellan leverantörer och återförsäljare inom den svenska Outdoorbranschen.Teori: Involveringsteori, Transaktionsmarknadsföring, Relationsmarknadsföring, Nätverksteori, Organisationsmodellen, Den värdeskapande processen och Totalkommunikation.Metod: Kvalitativ undersökning, deduktion, primärdata, intervjuer, semistrukturerad intervjuguide med kompletterande slutna frågor, strategiskt urval.Empiri: Haglöfs Scandinavia AB, Lundhags Skomakarna AB, Houdini Sportswear AB, Klättermusen AB, Playground Nordic AB, Addnature AB och Alewalds Sport AB.Resultat: Författarna upplever Ourdoorbranschen som en avslappnad och harmonisk bransch där social kompetens blir en viktig faktor för att skapa samarbeten över huvud taget. Leverantörer bör fokusera på leveranshantering, säljstöd och utbildning. Viktiga egenskaper hos leverantören för ett bra samarbete är ärlighet och öppenhet som bidrar till en bra kommunikation.Slutsats: Då vi lever i en föränderlig värld är den lojalitet som man bygger upp genom interaktion och samarbeten av stor betydelse för små Outdoorleverantörer på den svenska marknaden. Skall man som leverantör överleva långsiktigt måste man jobba mer kring förståelsen för att driva branschen in i en utvecklande fas och inte förlita sig helt på den tillväxt som branschen länge haft.

Bakgrund Idag spenderar barn mycket tid inomhus eller på schemalagda aktiviteter. I och med barns rättighet till ett hälsosamt liv har förskolan i uppgift att se till att barn får vara ute och där också få en positiv upplevelse av utomhusmiljön så att barnen som vuxna får en bra relation till naturen.Teori Studien utgår från teorier som åskådliggör positiva effekter av utomhusvistelse för barn. Lek i utomhusmiljö bidrar i hög grad till att utveckla motoriska och kognitiva färdigheter och väderväxlingar berikar barnens stimulans av olika sinnen. Teorier visar även att vatten är en stor källa till inspiration och experimentslust.Syfte Syftet är att undersöka hur tre förskolor i Stockholm använder sin förskolegård i nederbörd samt att studera hur redskap på gården är utformade för att kunna användas i nederbörd på hösten. Meningen är att studien ska ge inspiration till andra förskolor att se möjligheter i dagar med nederbörd.Metod Arbetet utgår från observationer på förskolor samt kvalitativa interjuver med en pedagog från varje förskola.Resultat Resultatet visar att redskap finns på alla gårdar men att de överlag inte är utformade speciellt för lek i nederbörd.

As a result of my fascination for nature I have chosen to study the possibilities to introduce natural environments on schoolyards. Too many schoolyards are lacking vegetation and many of them look like sterile asphalt deserts. The master thesis consists of two parts. The first part is based on literature studies and the second part in which findings from part one are put into practice. Five examples are presented; four schoolyards in Malmö; Kryddgårdsskolan, Kirsebergsskolan, Rörsjöskolan and Lindängeskolan and one in Kalmar; Åbyskolan. Malmö Naturskola has been working with the chosen areas on the schoolyards in Malmö.

There are plenty of exciting changes being developed in Tre Högar´s Park, which is located in the district of Linero, eastern Lund. A project group representing Linero If, Lugi Tennis and Linero/Östra Torn Health centre, has been created and is responsible for managing a development project of the Park. Their main focus is to create sports, exercise, health-promotion, health-care, recreation and rehabilitation facilities. They view the park area as having great potential and will transform it into a purpose built park for Health and Exercise. There are various authorities involved with and engaged in the scheme; aside from the project group, the municipality of Lund, The sport association of the handicapped and local schools are being consulted.

Stadsbarn har idag på grund av trafik och andra hot en begränsad utomhusarena att vistas på. Skolgårdar fyller därför en viktig funktion och det är viktigt att dess utformning gynnar alla barns behov av aktiviteter och utveckling. Syftet med detta arbete var att ta reda på vilken roll skolgårdens utformning har för elevernas val av aktiviteter. Undersökningen gjordes delvis ur ett genusperspektiv. Frågeställningarna under arbetets gång var: Hur ser skolgårdsmiljön ut? Hur utnyttjar eleverna skolgårdsmiljön i sina aktiviteter? Vilka aktiviteter ägnar sig eleverna åt på skolgården? Finns det platser och aktiviteter på skolgården som är genusfria/ genusbundna? Som teoretisk ram valde vi att utgå främst från Lev S Vygotskijs utvecklingspsykologiska teori där leken lyfts fram som en källa till utveckling samt Johan Asplunds forskning kring miljö och platsidentitet.

The abrupt and early weaning of intensively kept lambs may have serious animal welfare implications, but relatively little is known about this. Weaning includes the breaking of the mother-young bond and abrupt replacement of milk by solid food, often coinciding with changes in the (social) environment. Altogether, these changes are likely to affect lamb welfare significantly. This study aimed to establish how strong and persistent lamb welfare is impaired following abrupt weaning by means of measuring behaviour parameters indicative of affective state. Also, we investigated the existence of a diurnal rhythm in play behaviour, which is considered an important indicator of positive affect and good welfare.

The estate of Rydboholm is situated in the municipality of Österåker, north of Stockholm, Sweden, and has a long history dating back to the 14th century. Rydboholm was the home of several families of great national importance, such as the Finsta and Vasa clans. However, since the 1500s, the noble family Brahe was the most influential; leaving its mark on the castle and surroundings. The gardens of Rydboholm consist of two parts; The first is from the baroque era, dating back to the 1660s, and the second is an immense landscape park completed around the year 1800 by Magnus Fredrik Brahe. During his travels through Europe, Magnus Fredrik Brahe was influenced by the new English-style gardens and he brought a large collection of literature on the subject back to Sweden, still kept in the library of Rydboholm.

Med dagens utveckling av barns minskade rörelsefrihet och tätare stadsbyggnad finns risker för konsekvenser gällande barns utomhuslek. Skolgården som barns huvudsakliga utomhusmiljö blir då allt viktigare. Lekplatser och skolgårdar i Sverige tenderar dock att vara likartade och till stor del utformade på traditionellt vis med statiska material och utplacerade prefabricerade lekredskap. Vi kallar detta för ?möblerade? lekmiljöer.
