Från militärområde till stadspuls : Stadsdel Norr - en (nästan) vit fläck på Östersunds stadskarta
How can former military area I5 in Östersund, Sweden, evolve into Stadsdel Norr ("The Northern Quarter") ? an attractive part of the town center? In a theoretical part of the essay the significants of well functioning towns and streets are investigated. The history of Östersund and I5 is shortly reviewed. Present recommendations concerning city design are presented along with guidelines from Vägverket (National Road Administration) for urban streets. The conclusion reached is that a fundamental structure of streets and roads, public and private spaces, is crucial for the possible future development of an area.
Industrilandskapet i Norrköping : Kunskaper, värden och väg till bevarande
This study focuses the development on the protection of landscapes with old industries and how it nowadays is appreciated by the inhabitants. The overall aim of this study is to increase the knowledge about how the so called industrial landscape in Norrköping became a cultural heritage that the citizens want to protect. The study also aims to investigate the citizens´ knowledge about the industrial landscape in Norrköping, and what value they think that the place possesses. Data was collected by an information research and six qualitative interviews. The interviews where analysed by qualitative methods techniques.
Varför en arkeologisk identitet? En analys av kurdernas och samernas rätt och möjlighet att tala om arkeologisk identitet i nutid
Syftet med uppsatsen är att dels försöka definiera vad begreppet arkeologisk identitet i nutid innebär, dels göra en analys av hur arkeologisk identitet tar sig uttryck i en arkeologisk/politisk diskussion. Begreppet diskuteras utifrån två skilda exempel på vad arkeologisk identitet kan innebära för minoritetsgrupper, dels kurderna i staden Hasankeyf i sydöstra Turkiet, dels samerna i Härjedalen i Sverige. Monument ochlämningar efter nuvarande och svunna kulturer utgör, enligt min mening, en del av de lokala kulturernas arkeologiska identitet som varje nation har rätt och möjlighet att tala om i nutid..
Lokalhistoria i Historia A: den lilla och stora historien i samverkan
Genom min uppsats vill jag svara på frågan huruvida lokalhistoria går att integrera med grundkursen Historia A utan att detta extra stoff ska urholka kursen, eller störa dess kronologi. Jag vill visa att detta kan åstadkommas genom noggrann planering och med reflexioner över hur jag som lärare kan disponera de antal timmar som tilldelats Historia A. Jag vill visa på betydelsen av att global, nationell, regional och lokal historia samverkar i undervisningen och hur de olika områdena förstärker varandra, samt visa att lokalhistoria kan vara ett utmärkt redskap för att göra historieundervisningen levande för eleverna. Att marknadsföra kunskap : En studie av utbildningssektorn ur ett kommunikationsperspektiv
Marketing of education is a phenomenon which has been developed throughout the increasing competition within the educational sector. The focus of this paper is the marketing made by upper secondary schools (grade 10-12) in Stockholm. The competition in this area is increasing partly due to the growing number of private schools. However, this is a phenomenon seen only in larger cities with several schools available. There are over 170 upper secondary schools in Stockholm and the students freely can choose among these.
Från Balkan till Sverige : Ungdomars indentitet och historia
The purpose of this essay is to shed some light upon the children who grew up in Sweden after their parents fled the war in former Yugoslavia. Did the parents spread their own opinions about the other ethnicities which they fought against in the war to the children, even though they live in a new country? And if so, was it an act of patriotism for the country they once lived in and who was to blame for the war? Did the children who grew up in Sweden share the same attitudes as their parents? To find out about this we used interviews with four people, all with heritage from former Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Croatia. What we found out was that the thoughts from the parents partially were passed down to their children, even though the children thought that they had formed their own opinions. In this case the thoughts didn?t relate to any kind of patriotism or who to blame for the war, they rather believed that they shouldn?t blame the other ethnic groups for the war.

När man går på bio eller sitter hemma i soffan och ser på film tänker man sällan på filmens egentliga innehåll och symbolik. Man ser på filmen för att slappna av eller för att tänka på något annat. Syftet med denna uppsats är att framförallt analysera de kvinnliga karaktärerna i Lord of the Rings ur ett genusperspektiv och att höja medvetandet om dessa karaktärers roll i filmerna. Framför allt kommer fokus att ligga på de tre kvinnliga gestalterna som skildras. Jag har även valt att kortfattat behandla karaktären Rosa Kattum, som kontrast till de andra kvinnorna då hon skiljer sig från dem på ett för uppsatsens syfte intressant sätt..
Vem är samen? : En läromedelsanalys av hur samisk kultur och identitet presenteras i Undervisningsmaterial i historia och religion
The aim of this essay is to study how the Sami are presented in four textbooks about religion and history that are used in the schools of the majority culture of Sweden today and one book of ideas asto how a textbook could look like from a Sami's perspective. Its aim is not only to study how the Sami are presented but also to discuss how students who read these books could interpret what it means to be a Sami and what their culture is about. It is also meant to discuss how the Sami identitycould be formed. In order to be able to discuss this the essay uses three different kinds of theories about identity and culture. The analysis showed that there is little information about Sami culture, identity, religion and historypresented in the four textbooks used in schools of the majority culture and that these books seem to want students to think that the Sami are troublemakers but are and should be assimilated into the majority culture..
Det papperslösa frukostbordet - En undersökning om den tryckta dagstidningens framtid
As revenues from newspaper advertising plummet and their readers loyalty erode, the need to understand newspapers' changing environment and the actors involved in this change is growing in importance. Evidence is the entire industry is entering into a restructuring phase and that this restructuring is driven by the rapid consumer adaption of internet media.In this thesis I elaborate on "how the Internet is affecting the conditions for value creation in printed newspapers" and "how the Internet is affecting the conditions for other actors involved in the printed newspaper's value creation". These two questions land us in the bigger question of "Does the Internet act as a compliment or a substitute to the printed newspaper ".To answer these questions the printed newspaper is represented as the actor in the middle of content producers, advertisers and consumers. It is in its role as a means of distribution and as a co-ordinating force that we study the value creation of the printed newspaper. The empirical base of this thesis is a qualitative participant observation where the author during a period of time interacted and collected data from the open discussion in blogs by several of the industry's top influentials combined with material from seminars and reports on the current state of media.

This essay is a textbook study where I aim to review four textbooks regarding some historical events in the subject History. The textbooks are used in junior high school and the historical events are as follows: the genocide that happened in Congo during the leadership of king Leopold II, the genocide on Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, the Holocaust and the Vietnam War.By performing this study I wanted to answer these three questions:What differences and similarities can be found in how the events circumscribed?How much space do the various events have and has it evolved through the years 1980-2009?How can this be explained?The study has been analyzed from a post-colonial perspective and the recurring patterns that appear show how the texts are post-colonial. This means that the authors of the textbooks are writing about the same subjects, but in very different ways..
Hjortpark, kronoskog och ladugård : En bebyggelseundersökning av Skyttsie Hage på Skanörs ljung
This essay is about a deserted medieval habitation called Skyttsie Hage which is located in the south of Sweden in the Scania province where it lies on a moor on the Falsterbopeninsula. Remains of five to six larger buildings have been found here with a surrounding earthwork, although it's not known for sure what kind of habitation they have been part of. Local folklore from the 17:th century states the area as a place where pirates lived, and that this was the reason for it's devastation. Another says that there once stood a breedingfarm belonging to the danish crown. Archaeologists have made several speculations which includes a deer park, a royal estate, an isolated farm or a smaller village.

This master thesis is about a place that has a story to tell. Olsson?s garden came about when Mr Carl Oscar Olsson acquired a piece of land in Landalabergen in the beginning of the 1930's and at that time he started his industrious work of uniting much of Sweden's flora in his garden. Since the very beginning Olsson's garden has played a lot of different rolls in a variety of situations and meant different things for different people.
Today one can find traces from Mr Olsson's life and deeds in the garden.

Utgångspunkten för den pjäs som utgör en del av mitt magisterarbete är från första början egentligen en grundläggande socialpsykologisk iakttagelse. Det rör sig om det inte ovanliga (såvida jag inte fått allt om bakfoten) mänskliga draget att säga en sak och göra en annan, ett drag som tycks gälla mer som regel än undantag åtminstone på teatern. Jag utgår från att de ord som sägs alltid har en avsikt och en riktning, medveten eller omedveten. En person vill något med det den säger. Däremot är avsikten med de uttalade orden inte alltid densamma som den orden först låter oss tro.

Sex är ett alltmer vanligt förekommande fenomen i marknadsföringsbudskap. Detta gäller inte enbart annonser där produkten har en sexuell koppling utan även i många fall även där sex inte har någon egentlig koppling till produkten som marknadsförs. Anledningen är att sexualiserad reklam antas väcka uppmärksamhet hos konsumenterna och får annonsen att stå ut ur det ständigt ökande mediebruset. Men den ökade förekomsten av sexualiserad reklam har dock blivit föremål för en växande debatt ? många människor motsätter sig användningen av sex i reklam.

Tourism is a growing industry that brings in a lot of money each year, range ofactivities increases and people travel more than ever before. More and more chooseto move from rural areas to larger towns, at the same time when people are travellingthey want to visit quieter places that can offer outdoor experiences in the nature. Thisis something that tourism businesses located in rural areas have a great advantage of.But when the range is large, it becomes important for firms to communicate with themarket, to make the tourists choose to visit them.The purpose of this study is to investigate which media channels and target groupsthat tourism businesses use and how they reflect on the importance of communicatewith the market. To find this out, interviews have been conducted with tree differententrepreneur, all located in Jämtland. The theory?s that has been used is strategiccommunication, public relations, market communication, media channels, socialmedia and target groups.The result shows that all companies think that thecommunication with the market is an important part in the work with the company.The communication gets the business a chance to be seen and it becomes more easilyto create relationships with the stakeholders.
