The demands on the adult literacy-rate are very high in Sweden. People with reading and writing difficulties may find it hard to fit into the community and to succeed in school. To accommodate the needs of students with learning disabilities, Swedish schools provide easy-to-understand materials. The purpose of my thesis is to examine how easy-to-read textbooks for high school students are different from regular textbooks. The study was carried out using a content analysis and I examined the books according to criteria specified by the Swedish author Torbjörn Lundgren.

The purpose of this paper is to examine how gender in Islam and Hinduism are described in textbooks for high school. The study was conducted using a qualitative content analysis and also using a feminist gender theory and postcolonial feminist theory. All textbooks are written or revised after 2011 when The Swedish National Agency for Educations? new curriculum came into force. Previous research in this area shows that it is most common that gender is treated in isolated parts within the chapters, but that there are textbooks that allows the gender perspective permeate the entire text.

This exam paper has examined visual portrayals of overweight and fatness in two swedish upper secondary school textbooks, one in physical education and one in social science. The textbooks were analyzed in regard to numeral representation, interacting social categories such as gender and age, depiction in forms of activities and stereotypes and relation to context close to or far away from a swedish context. The analysis showed an underrepresentation of overweight and fat bodies in both textbooks, but the represention of overweight bodies in the textbook on physical education were nearly nil whereas in the textbook on social science there where representations of both overweight and fat bodies. Combined the both textbooks gave a representation of health and youth as not represented by overweight or fat bodies..

The purpose of the study is, through some aspects, to make it visible and compare the education in mathematics in classes 1-3 in Sweden and Turkey. I have also studied the mathematic lessons, textbook and teaching aids, examinations and the use of calculator, on the basis of steering documents in curriculum and syllabi. The method used in this study contains of qualitative interviews and have an unstructured character but also observations noted continuously. The result is a comparison between my own experiences and the observations connected to relevant theories and the questions..

The aim of this bachelor?s thesis is to analyze if there are differences in the way of explainingthe causes of The Great Emigration from Sweden to America in the late 1800s/beginningof the 1900s. Due to the researcher?s education the thesis has a didactic, and comparativeperspective between how history textbooks aimed for Middle School and High School andhow the exhibition Drömmen om Amerika (= The Dream of America), in Vaxjo, Sweden,explains this phenomena. A special analysis scheme is applied to the sources in a way to makeit clear to the reader how informative they are and how much effort they put in the explaining.The outcome of the analysis shows that the exhibition gives the visitor a wider, deeper,and more informative depiction of The Great Emigration, compared to the textbooks? moresummarized extracts.

Bakgrund:Omkring 30 miljoner människor har genom åren dött på grund av HIV/AIDS. Det är idag en pandemi där Afrika är värst drabbat. HIV/AIDS ställer stora krav på hälso- och sjukvården och studier pekar på att negativa attityder är vanligt inom hälso- och vården gentemot patienter som är bärare av HIV/AIDS.Syfte: Att beskriva attityder hos vårdpersonal inför att vårda patienter som är bärare av HIV/AIDS.Metod:Arbetet är utformat som en litteraturöversikt där problemet beskrivs. En litteratursökning har genomförts via databaser och 13 artiklar som svarat på vårt syfte har analyserats och studiernas resultat sorterades in i kategorier.Resultat:Resultatet sorterades in i kategorier vilka bestod av; vårdpersonals attityder inför att vårda personer som lever med HIV/AIDS, kunskap relaterat till HIV/AIDS, smittorisker och nationella riktlinjer. Resultatet visar att det inom hälso- och sjukvården finns negativa attityder till patienter med HIV/AIDS som har samband med stora brister i kunskap angående sjukdomen.

A lot has been written about Nobel and Nobel Prize winners. In literature it is common to describe patterns or trends in Nobel?s peace prize rewards. One aim with my study is to examine if the same is possible to distinguish in how the authors of textbooks have written about Nobel?s peace prize.

The purpose of the study is to analyse the representations of Jewish festivals and how they affect the teaching in three textbooks for Religious Education 1 in Secondary Upper Education. The textbooks are Religion och livet (2007) written by Börge Ring, Religionskunskap för gymnasiet (2009) written by Lars-Göran Alm and Religion 1 för gymnasiet (2012) written by Lennart Göth, Katarina Lycken Rüter and Veronica Wirström. The basis for the study is the phenomenological perspective as described by Émile Durkheim and in particular Carl-Henrik Grenholm and Karl-Johan Illman. It tells that religion cannot purely be understood as a religious belief without its rituals. This phenomenological perspective on religion both the curriculum and syllabus encourages.

The thesis of this essay is how literary texts are selected in the teaching of Swedish in upper secondary school, and how teachers reflect upon gender in these selections. To answer the thesis question three methods have been used. Firstly interviews were held with five teachers of Swedish, which have been the primary source for the essay. In addition to the interviews, I have examined two literary anthologies used as teaching aid in the teaching of Swedish and lastly I analyzed the literature and authors that the teachers explicitly express that they use in their tutoring. The secondary sources of this thesis contain research on selections of fictional texts, literary canon and students? re-production of gender.

Denna studie är baserad på intervjuer med personer i Sverige som har någon form av relation till sjukdomen hiv/aids. Dessa människor har antingen jobbat med hiv/aids-frågor, haft anhöriga som smittats av hiv eller själva är smittade. Syftet med denna studie är att synliggöra erfarenheter av att leva med sjukdomen hiv/aids bland smittade, anhöriga och verksamma inom frivilligorganisation. Detta har vi gjort genom kvalitativ metod, intervjuer utformade utifrån vårt syfte. Dessa intervjuer har genomförts på tre orter geografiskt spridda över Sverige.

It is important that the language in textbooks for foreign language learners reflects the language that the learners would encounter in real life. For this reason, the presence of the thousand most common nouns in two Swedish textbooks in Spanish for upper secondary school is observed in this study. Furthermore, this study aims to examine how these nouns occur in order to determine if their pattern of occurence favours the learning and consolidation of words. The main materials that have been used are A Frequency Dictionary of Spanish by Davies (2006) and the word search program available in the digital versions of the textbooks. The results show that the presence of the thousand most common Spanish nouns does reflect the frequency information presented in the frequency dictionary but not all thousand nouns are included.

Textbooks are the most dominant literature used in schools and are therefore an important source of information. Consequently, it is crucial that these are not misleading or biased and maintain a high quality along with a strict concordance to the School Department?s curriculum. The aims of this study have been to examine how Mormons, Jehovah?s Witnesses and Hare Krishna are presented in four religion textbooks used in senior high schools, as well as to examine what type of knowledge is being presented in terms of epistemology.

Bakgrund. Under historiens gång har sjukdomar varit förknippade med rädsla och fördomar, HIV/AIDS är i nuläget den mest ökande smittsamma sjukdomen som har associationer med fördomar och skam. Detta ställer stora krav på vårdarens syn på HIV/AIDS och att kunna ge trygg vård som grundar sig på teoretisk och praktisk kunskap. Syftet. Syftet med denna Litteraturstudie är att fördjupa förståelsen för vårdarens känslor i mötet med personer smittade med HIV/AIDS och att undersöka orsaker till dessa känslor.

Under de senaste 20 åren har förekomsten av HIV och aids ökat kraftigt runt om i världen. Sub Sahara-Afrika är i nuläget det värst drabbade området. En allt mer globaliserad värld underlättar för smittspridningen vilket gör sjukdomen svår att kontrollera. HIV/aids-problematiken måste tas på allvar, i annat fall kan det få katastrofala följder. Sverige är än så länge ett av de länder som är minst drabbat men i och med att människor från olika kulturer blir allt mer integrerade i det svenska samhället kommer sjuksköterskan troligtvis stöta på patienter med HIV/aids allt mer i framtiden.
