This work is about Cuban music and my relationship to it. My study contains two different parts. In the first one I try to give a short summary of Cuban music history. The second part is about possibilities and problems that can arise in the meeting with foreign cultures. I have focused on three themes: Music and respect, cultural encounters and travelling, and communication.

Den allmänna uppfattningen av litteraturen på Turismprogrammet är att den är bristfällig och inte av önskad bredd. En eventuell geografisk anknytning är svår att hitta. Frågan är om det är ?dålig? litteratur på turismprogrammet eller om annan litteratur har samma brister.

This study, based onarchaeological evidence and texts by ancient writers that reflect this ancient superstition,explores how the evil eye was being averted and practiced by ancient cultures. What measureswere taken to ward off the evil eye? How have these measures been represented in thematerial culture? What can we learn from the context of the material culture involving the evileye? Discussions and theories of protective measures that have been depicted on the walls ofthe roman city of Pompeii will hopefully give a wider comprehension of the evil eye, and its influence on Roman society..

The art of riding is a fugitive art, which signifies that the means available for documentation of performances are insufficient, and that the equipment used by the old masters are important clues for the understanding of their art. The most specialized tool used for riding is the bit, in particular the curb. As museum catalogues become accessible to the public through the internet, riders will look for information about bits. It is then important that the information provided in the catalogues is valid not just for the curator, archaeologist or art historian, but also for the rider.In this paper, I add context to the bits by explaining two opposing philosophies of bitting, and how they affect the design of the bits. This is followed by a brief history of the art of riding and how the bits have evolved since the 16?th century.

With this essay we would like to examine to what extent the ancient Icelandic literature could count as a part of Sweden?s literal cultural heritage in schools today, if it through seeking information is possible to say whether this literature have any connections to Sweden. Our questions of issue are:1. What kind of connection is there between ancient Icelandic literature and Swedish literary cultural heritage and what are the ancient Icelandic literature premises? in the Swedish upper secondary school?2.

This paper is about skiing and Swedish nationalism during the late 19th century and early 20th century. The aim is to investigate why skiing was considered so eminently suited for the incorporation of certain ideals in the national fellowship.The paper accounts an analyse of texts and documents about Swedish skiing from 1897-1924. Skiing was a nationalistic concern from the very beginning of this period. It was connected to heartfelt feelings towards the Swedish nature, the patriotic upbringing of the youth, as well as the health of the nation. Over the years skiing also became an increased object of sportification.

Syftet är att granska relationen mellan konstnären och marknaden. Flertalet frågor behandlas, såsom om konsten och konstnärer står inför ett paradigmskifte, varför det är fult att säga konst och pengar i samma mening och vad verksamma konstnärer tycker om situationen.Uppsatsen redogör för begreppet konstnär ur ett historisk och sociologiskt perspektiv. Under 70-talet förändrades det hawaiianska folkets etniska identitet, då en frihetsrörelse uppstod. Det finns anledning att begrunda om identitet och samhällsförändringar har en ömsesidig relation, där förstärkning respektive försvagning av identitet är beroende av samhällsutveckling. Frihetsrörelsens framväxt reflekterar den problematik som hawaiianerna har stött på. Rörelsens mål är att utveckla en stark etnisk identitet bland det hawaiianska folket, genom olika projekt som knyter dem med en utveckling av kulturen. Det utfaller sig relevant att analysera samhällsutveckling visavi identitetens förändring.

Tjänstefolkssystemet kan behandlas såväl ur ett utbuds- som ett efterfrågeperspektiv. På efterfrågesidan skulle då bondehushållens ekonomi och deras behov ligga. Utifrån detta synsätt skulle tjänstefolkssystemet som sådant ha en inneboende rationalitet. Sedvanan och de inbördes styrkeförhållandena mellan husbönder och tjänstehjon var bestämmande i långt högre grad än legohjonsstadgorna. Frälsejorden ägdes av adelsmän, men brukades i första hand av frälsebönder, vilka betalade avrad, eller ränta, till adelsmannen som ägde jorden.

This thesis investigates young people´s (16-21) preferences in reading through a survey including interviews and questionnaires. The groups attitudes towards reading and libraries, their reading and library habits, and to what extent eight libraries had bought the preferred literature were also examined. Some reports from the 80´s were used to find the changes. The result shows that youngsters read and visit libraries somewhat more frequently. Trivial literature is not as dominant, more teenage-books were read.

Den 29 april 1955 beslutade stadsfullmäktige i Lund om rivning av rådhuset vid Stortorget. Beslutet hade föregåtts av en debatt om rivning kontra bevarande som berörde både hög och låg bland stadens invånare. Engagemanget var stort. One of the purposes of this work was to find out what it means to have a conceptual understanding of geometry. It describes how the geometry evolved from history and the geometry that is taught in grade one to nine and collage. The area examined was based on fundamental geometric objects for example two- and three- dimensional objects and its characteristics and especially focusing on the areas of perimeter, area and volume. The literature- review showed that the conceptual understanding was primary to developing a good knowledge of geometry. The second purpose of his study examined whether pupils achieved the goals in geometry by working with a Mathematics Book.

This thesis discusses the existential consequences for the human being in creatio ex nihilo, where the main subjects of discussion are contingency, freedom and identity. The starting-point of the discussion lies in the presentation of the history of the doctrine of creation, especially the doctrine of creatio ex nihilo. Once the historical and philosophical importance of the doctrine of creation is clear, the anthropological and theological consequences are obvious; creation is contingent and at the same time deeply dependent upon God. The contingency of creation may bring a sense of non-necessity among people, and therefore it makes the question of human freedom and identity in the doctrine of creation utterly important..
