A film can attract all kinds of emotions and moods of the audience through its audiovisual communications and cinematic expression, in which music plays a significant role in both understanding and interpretation of film content.It is interesting to explore the musical significance and the emotional aspect of the film out of a media and communications perspective and visual communications perspective because it?s a subject that belongs to the communications of scientific discipline as film is a media text which is working both as communicative and as audio-visual medium with its expressive aspects.The purpose of this bachelor?s paper is to increase and deepen the understanding of music's function and significant role in context with its reinforcing sense of visual expression in film. More specifically, it aims to explore the musical value of the expressive aspect of the media text in form of film musical Les Misérables (2012), which has been transmedialised from the novel of the same name, referring to the sound, music and song in relation to the film's visual expression.The research questions are at the core of the essay study: "how is music used to reinforce the cinematic visual expression?" and "how can music signify the narrative and highlight the emotional aspect of the film?" The theoretical framework is based on some of the key scholars assumptions such as Michel Chion (1994) and Claudia Gorbman (1987), who share the same theoretical views that the soundtrack seems powerful when it expresses its participation in a scene?s emotional moods as the music follows the scene?s rhythm, the image?s flow and contributes emotional and musical codes of emotions and expressions. According to Chion sound and image interact together to tell a story where sound enrich the image with expressive and informative values.

The attacks of September 11, 2001 have done more to focus attention on the conjunction of religion and conflict than any other event in recent history. Although much international research has focused since then on the role of Islam, religiously inspired violence is also found in countries as diverse as Thailand, Burma, or Sri Lanka, where Buddhism plays a central role. This paper addresses how these realities are reflected in two Swedish high school textbooks on religion. The thesis calls into question the manner in which Buddhism is presented in schoolbooks as the most probable candidate to be a conflict-free religion.Using Fairclough?s discourse analysis theoretical framework and Hellspong?s structural analysis, the thesis critically examines the relationship between text, the discourse practice in which text is produced and the wider social practices.

Denna studie syftar till att ge en uppdaterad bild av mångfalden på Sveriges Radio då denna undersökning omfattar en växande del av mediemarknaden som ännu ej blivit undersökt: produktionsbolagen. För att avgränsa studien studerades de produktionsbolag som Sveriges Radio samarbetat med under hösten 2013. För att undersöka hur produktionsbolagens sammansättning såg ut analyserades medarbetarna, genom en kvantitativ undersökning, utifrån kön, ålder samt etnicitet. Därefter analyserades ägarförhållanden utifrån samma parametrar och slutligen produktionsbolagens geografiska position. Resultaten jämfördes sedan med hur dessa siffror såg ut inom Sveriges Radio, hur befolkningen i Sverige såg ut under samma tidsperiod och slutligen mot den undersökning som Djerf-Pierre (2007) gjorde 2005 över Sveriges journalistkår.

Syftet med examensarbetet är att göra en studie i hur teknikutvecklingen påverkar läraruppdraget hos fem lärare. Detta genom att ta reda på hur fem lärare uppfattar att deras läraruppdrag har påverkats av En till En-satsningen, en dator per elev. Sedan jämför jag dessa uppfattningar med hur litteratur och styrdokument uppfattar förändringen i klassrummet. Min övergripande frågeställning är: Vilken är de fem utvalda lärarnas uppfattning till En till En- satsningen? Examensarbetet är utfört utifrån en kvalitativ undersökning där resultaten från intervjuer med fem lärare tolkas och jämförs med litteratur. Resultatet av intervjuerna visar en övergripande positiv inställning till satsningen hos lärarna.

The award-winning Norwegian novelist Karl Ove Knausgård achieved great success with his latest book, Min kamp. Both commercially and critically, the novel was praised for its seemingly successful attempt to transcend the boundary between fiction and real life. The aim of this study is to examine the historical information about women?s libraries and book ownership during the early modern period in the work of Carl Magnus Carlander, Svenska bibliotek och ex-libris [Swedish libraries and ex-libris] (1904) and to inquire the scientific value of the information. A gender perspective is applied to the study. The aim of this thesis is to investigate how students in higher education use talking books. This has been inves-tigated through qualitative interviews with nine students. The intention has been to find out how they use talk-ing books and why they have chosen to do it in the way they have, looking specifically on whether there are strategies shared by most of the interviewees.As a theoretical basis of the thesis I have chosen a study, described by Sigrid Hongset, where dyslectic pu-pils tried using printed text and text on tape, as well as both simultaneously. Det överordnade syftet är att undersöka hur eleverna utnyttjar möjligheterna att bygga upp och markera avsnitt och stycken. Utifrån resultaten förs därefter en didaktisk diskussion. Ett annat syfte är att pröva huruvida ledfamiljsanalys är ett bra verktyg för att bedöma bra eller dålig styckeindelning. The Swedish and the Finnish compulsory care legislation that regards abusers differ in several ways. The arguments for compulsory care and for the time which one will receive compulsory care are dissimilar. The aim of this thesis is to describe and analyse which arguments for compulsory care and the length of the care time that has been expressed in the Swedish and the Finnish laws and in the statutes. The tools were an argumentation analysis, which is a form of qualitative text analysis method, combined with a hermeneutic scientific position. We have investigated the arguments that try to justify compulsory care and the care time that has been expressed in the laws and the statutes.

Detta arbete har syftat till utveckla ett feminint, ungt och individuellt perspektiv på nio gymnasieflickors egna uppfattningar om och förståelse av en populärkulturell text, som de gavs tillfälle att i en gruppintervju beskriva med egna ord. Flera elever uttryckte synpunkter som i hög grad förde tankarna till ett postmodernt tänkande, fokuserat på individens önskningar och drömmar. En del elever tyckte att filmen tog upp kvinnofrågan anno 2009, dvs. att den fokuserade på kvinnans fria val att leva singelliv och rätt till ?manliga sexualvanor?, på hennes rätt till kvinnliga gemenskaper och genom dessa rätten till ett inbyggt bekräftelsesystem, på hennes rätt att vara kvinnlig i kombination med att ha en karriär och på åldersfixeringen i dagens samhälle.

Uppsatsen behandlar ett ämne som alltid är aktuellt i skolvärlden, nämligen hur bedömning av elever ska gå till och hur läraren ska få dem att utvecklas. Istället för att beskriva en idag, år 2013, aktuell undervisningsmetod, bedömning för lärande/formativ bedömning, behandlar föreliggande uppsats denna ?metod? som ett diskursivt konstruerat fenomen. Genom att ta utgångspunkt i Norman Faircloughs modell för kritisk diskursanalys behandlar föreliggande uppsats fenomenet på tre nivåer, i text, diskursiv praktik och social praktik. Utgångsläget, enligt denna metod, och teori, är att det ständigt pågår en förändringsprocess i alla sociala sammanhang som påverkas av det språkbruk som används just där och då.

In this thesis I have chosen to study the use of crowdsourcing in Swedish archival institutions as well as the influence this methodic platform has on the work of modern archivists. This also raises the question whether the nature of the platform is in any way influenced by the attitude working professionals might have towards crowdsourcing as a legitimed working method. This investigation is based on case studies and interviews with archivists from select Swedish institutions and also the methodology of two now ongoing crowdsourcing projects.The theoretical framework on which this composition is based comes from the work of Gregory Asmolov and his work on crowdsourcing platforms and their functionality as tools of governing. Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) is applied to analyze how the method of crowdsourcing is utilised by archival institutions and influenced by their daily routine in conjunction with Governmentality as the chosen way of studying how these platforms might control their users.From the results of the performed case studies, two discourses emerged based on the view on quality concerning gathered information amongst the involved subjects. The first of these discourses places it´s trust and faith in users themselves where validity is of a lesser concern than the actual availability of information through the concept of ?wisdom of the crowds?.
