Environmental issues and sustainable development is a high priority in today?s society and has received substantial attention lately. In the inaugural speech it is expressed that the goal for the IT?politics is a sustainable information society for everyone, which can be achieved by using IT to support sustainable growth. The Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications has developed a document which outlines three specific proposals on what the government should focus on during a three?year period (2008?2010) that with the use of IT will contribute to a sustainable society.

Detta examensarbete syftade till att studera meningsskapandet i mötet mellan elever i skolår nio och en text ur deras lärobok i fysik. Arbetet utgick från ett pragmatiskt perspektiv och prövade praktisk epistemologisk analys, PEA, för att angripa den meningsskapande processen i detta möte. Det prövade angreppssättet PEA styrde metoden då analysen utgick från en pågående aktivitet, i detta fall mötet mellan elev och en lärobokstext i fysik. Mötet spelades in och observerades för att transkriberas och analyseras. Tydligt framkom att de meningar som skapades hos eleverna påverkades av lärobokens erbjudna innehåll.

Current technology offers many possibilities for remotecommunication. Nevertheless, people with cognitive and communicativedisabilities have limited access to common communication technology like textmessaging via a mobile phone. This study is part of the project Text messagingwith picture symbols - a possibility for AAC users and people with cognitiveimpairments. Semi structured interviews were used to investigate three menand four women?s experiences of using Windows mobiles with adaptedfunctions for text messaging.

Most pupils learn good reading strategies during their first years at school. Pupils who don´t do that will have difficulties understanding written data. As the pupils meet text filled with lots of data they will have difficulties understanding the written text. International studies show that the rusults of Swedish pupils are dropping. This issue got me thinking: What help is given to those pupils with difficulties so that their reading comprehension will increase? Are the teachers actively teaching reading comprehensions and in that case how and when? By observing two teahers of intermediate level, I wanted to find out how theachers help pupils with reading comprehension.

Vi har undersökt hur Scandinavian Airlines Systems (SAS) årsredovisningar kanstuderas utifrån ord respektive siffror och vilket av de två som ger bäst informationför en extern intressent. Vidare har vi studerat hur väl redovisningen överrensstämmermed företagets situation. I studien har nyckeltal och analysmetoden Content analysisanvänts för att studera siffror i årsredovisningen, medans stycket ?VD har ordet? stårtill grund för analysen av text. Vårt syfte med uppsatsen är att bidra med kunskap omhur årsredovisningar kan användas av externa intressenter, det vill säga hurårsredovisningar kan belysa ett företags situation utifrån olika perspektiv.Studien bygger på både en kvalitativ och en kvantitativ metod på grund av uppsatsensuppdelning mellan att studera siffror samt tolka text.

Syftet med denna studie är att analysera och söka förståelse för hur genus framträder i bilderboken i både text och bild. Vårt syfte är även att föra en diskussion med pedagoger om deras yttranden och tankar kring genus i bilderboken. Våra frågeställningar i studien blir därför: Hur framträder genus i bilderboken? Vilka tankar uttrycker pedagoger i förskolan om genus och genus i bilderboken? Hur yttrar sig pedagoger i förskolan om bilderboken i förhållande till det formulerade uppdraget om genus i Lpfö 98? Utifrån våra frågeställningar har vi valt att analysera sex bilderböcker i både text och bild, samt intervjuat fyra verksamma förskollärare som arbetar på en förskola i Malmö. Tidigare forskning som vi har använt oss av då vi har fördjupat oss i vårt problemområde är genus, genus i bilderboken och genus i förskolan.

The purpose of this study is to investigate? how a professional librarian can support the work with pupils, age six to twelve years, in their reading and linguistic development? how the conditions at the school have to be for this to become possible? what kind of attitudes the teachers have, and how they relate to the impact of a librarian for the pupils reading and linguistic development.The methods used are analyses of steering documents concerning school libraries and analyses of the means of the local school culture. The latter has been carried out by literature studies and through interviews of eight teachers and two school librarians. The result of the interviews showed a limited insight into how a professional librarian can support and assist teachers and pupils in the work with reading and linguistic development. They also showed the influence of existing traditions and local school culture for the use of a librarian?s services, and also how all the teachers, once they have become used to the services a librarian can provide, now find their support invaluable.

This thesis strives to demonstrate my increasingly phenomenological approach to musical composition in relation to the extensive body of musical works connected in different ways to the poetry collection ORDER by the Swedish author and play-wright Lars Norén. The hand, the touch, the voice, the space (environment) and its philosophical implications are scrutinised from a poetic perspective (my poetics). The question of language (the word), the sign (text), sound/noise/music and its immanent bodily qualities are focused and questioned in my own work as well as in primarily two case studies of the music of Pierluigi Billone (1960-) and Morton Feldman (1926-1987).The text reflects the emancipatory process my music has undergone the last 4- 5 years: moving away from language and text (representation) to body and sound, although preserving and nurturing the extended idea of the sign (as signification of sound and body) as a possible embodied vehicle in my composing and artistic thinking.The reader is invited through the extensive use of sketches and work methods to witness and follow this process as a manifestation of the ?doing? rather than the presentation or construction of an analysis in an academic sense.The thesis offers no solution and it fails to encapsulate all of the so-called ORDER-MUSIC (the music that is connected with Norén's collection of poetry) Instead it proposes a possible way of ?opening? the process to a basically phenomenological methodology inside the musical field of score based chamber music..

Karin Boyes Crisis (Kris) was published in 1934 as a contribution to the contemporary ideas of moral issues, challenging the dominating traditionalism within the literature critisism.With different kinds of stylistic procedures is Crises expressing a self which seeks to relieve itself from the repressing experience of Language. The text shows an attempt to create meaning beyond the conventional system of linguistic signs, beyond the tradition of literature.The focus in the essay is the self; the self is the basic structure and the theme of the text. Crisis shows it?s self-assuredness and points out a dialogue with the nietzschean philosophy. Nietzsche claims that the truth is a rhetorical creation, something which the language produces in the will of power.

The purpose of this essay is to examine progression in user education atprimary and secondary school levels, specifically the role played byschool libraries, librarians and strategy documents in securingeducational progression. Progression is examined in the user educationprovided by the five schools, part of the same municipal schoolmanagement area which share the same strategy plan. The area, NorraFäladen, was awarded School Library of the Year in 2011 for its work,making it particularly interesting for this essay's purpose. The studycombines interviews with the area's three school librarians, who dividetheir time between the five schools, with an analysis of the strategydocuments that regulate user education within Norra Fäladen. Theanalytical framework is based on: AASL's model of progression in usereducation (Standards for the 21st-century learner); Ekström's model forsuccessful and active strategy documents; Kuhlthau's theory of thelibrarian's role in the information search process; and Limberg'staxonomy of the role of the school library.The study shows how a number of concurrent factors and prerequisitesinfluence how goals for progression in user education are met.

We are heading for a line, and its a fine one. This project is a dialogue between you and I; about the dialogue itself. The initial interest was to use literary text to address the visitor in the exhibition space. The purpose was to make man aware of its relation to others and narrative objects. I planned for the dialectical event in every descision.

This study discusses and examines the alternative teaching materials in religion class amongst seven teachers in Stockholm region. As religion is a complex subject to both learn and to teach it may be beneficial to use alternative texts to show the diversity of the subject. The aim of this study was to examine why teachers use news articles and other articles from daily magazines in their religion class. I also examined how the teachers motivated their choices of teaching materials. The study is qualitative and the empirical work was done by interviewing seven teachers in religion.

Not enough attention has been paid to the correlation between the failure of peacekeeping operations and the actual source of civil wars. This text is an attempt to fill that gap. Hence the question: under which conditions is it possible for peacekeeping operations to replace the responsibility of the state concerning the security aspects of the social contract? The outset of the text, using the theories of Robert Nozick, is a theoretical approach towards the founding of states, described as the merging of entities. The theory serves a purpose since it, in combination with identity, illustrates in what manner the glue of society occurs and the rallying around other kind of loyalties like clans and ethnicities.

The study has got three aims. The first purpose is to implement the Newman et al.s rampage theory (2004) in a more dominant European context. In this way, the theory?s strengths and weaknesses can be exposed. The second objective is to look at the motive.

En läsbarhetsalgoritm utvärderar en text och ger den ett numeriskt värde som anses återspegla hur lättläst textenär. Syftet med denna kandidatexamensuppsats är att utifrån en diskussion om läsbarhetsbegreppet och läsbarhetsalgoritmen LIX (läsbarhetsindex) ta fram alternativa läsbarhetsalgoritmer,för att därefter utvärdera om dessa kan bedöma läsbarhet bättre än LIX. Utvärderingen sker med hjälp av texter ur två grupper,för varje text i den ena gruppen finns en motsvarande text i den andra med ett liknande innehåll och komplexitet men med en språkmässig skillnad. Materialet som kategoriserats som mer lättläst består av texter som belönats medden så kallade Klarspråkskristallen som årligen delas ut till statliga organ, exempelvis Riksbanken, som gjort framstående insatser för att göra sina publikationer mer lättlästa.Gruppen med texter som kategoriserats som mer svårlästa består av motsvarande publikationer ifrån dessa organ från åren innan de tilldelats Klarspråkskristallen.Resultatet av vårt arbete visade att alla algoritmer i testet kunde bedöma vilken av texterna som var mer lättläst i majoriteten av fallen. I ett teckenrangtest med signifikansnivån 5 % gick det dock inte att förkasta hypotesenatt algoritmerna inte kunde avgöra skillnaden mellan texterfrån de två grupperna.
