Stereotypic pacing is frequently observed in captive carnivores, however the underlying causes of this behaviour remain somewhat unclear. One of these possible causes are unpredictable feeding signals, which may give rise to frustration and subsequent pacing. Animal keepers at Nordens Ark had noticed that their Amur leopards had shown stereotypic pacing in connection to the passing of ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) used by animal keepers primarly when feeding the animals in the park. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the stereotypic pacing of the two Amur leopards at Nordens Ark were affected by the introduction of a signal associated with feeding. The leopards were trained by classical conditioning to associate the sound of a siren with the delivery of food by an animal keeper.

The purpose of this master thesis is to examine how librarians/cultural workers act in projects in order to stimulate and promote reading among children and youth in sparsely populated regions in the county of Jämtland during a period of three years, and if/how these projects differ. The examination is based upon the progress of these projects in four of eight communities. Four librarians and two cultural workers have been interviewed in order to get their view of the proceedings of the projects. The results indicate that the four communities all made up plans for three years but in different ways. They mainly collaborated with the school but also with the board of children's health and the preparatory school.

De viktigaste källorna till sådan strålning är radon som finns i varierande mängd i bergrunden, sådant radioaktivt material som finns i all materia (t.ex. Kol-14, Kalium-40), strålning som uppkommer i samband med mänsklig aktivitet (medicinska tillämpningar, kärnkraft, kärnvapenprov) och den kosmiska strålningen. Av dessa ökar den kosmiska strålningen med ökad höjd över havsytan, men samtidigt avtar den sammanlagda stråldosen från de andra källorna något. Sammantaget sker dock en viss ökning av stråldosen med ökande höjd.

This work aims to improve our knowledge about Swedish video game journalists, a new occupation in a quickly expanding business. Through a survey sent out to over 50 Swedish video game journalists, the result indicate some unexpected facts. Men largely dominate the profession; just 10 % of the work forces are females. This relation was notable in our survey, as well as in earlier studies. Video game journalists between 26 and 35 years old seems to be the largest age group, which we think is a bit surprising considering how new this form of journalism is, and the fact the internet provides opportunities for every enthusiastic video game writer.

This final thesis is initiated by the wood fuel department at the Swedish forest company Sveaskog as part of a project which also involves two other final thesises. The overall goal of the project is to investigate Sveaskog´s possibilities to produce and sell different wood fuel assortments in Västerbotten and the southern parts of Norrland. The aim of this thesis is to investigate how much wood fuel Sveaskog can produce in the area during the next five years and what that would cost. Furthermore the thesis will investigate the total possible supply of wood fuel from all other possible producers in the area. Treated assortments are forest residues from final fellings, whole trees from direct wood fuel thinnings, non industrial wood and industrial by-products from sawmills. The main effort to investigate Sveaskog´s production possibilities has been made to calculate the possible annual amount of forest residues and fuel from wood fuel thinnings that can be produced.

This thesis aims to find a more cost effective model for purchasing and logistics at asmall company. The studied company is a BMX (bicycle motocross) and MTB(mountain bike) retailer. The questions to be answered are: How large parties shouldbe ordered and what mode of transportation is to be used? A literature orientation ofthe field was followed by visits to the company, obtaining information from twodifferent logistics companies and interviews of four other companies in the sameindustry. The study shows that it´s difficult to develop an optimum order quantity fora small company since there often are other factors affecting how large amountshould be ordered.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur etisk produktion påverkar konsumenters attityd gentemot en ökad investering vid konsumtion. Vedertagen teori menar på att etisk produktion har en positiv påverkan på den genomsnittlige konsumentens attityd och att konsumenter kan tänka sig att betala ett högre pris för produkter producerade på etiskt vis. Med syfte att konkretisera begreppet CSR och underlätta för respondenterna i enkätundersökningen används begreppet etisk produktion med hänvisning till äggkonsumtion. Aspekterna av begreppet etisk produktion som ligger till grund för denna studie är miljövänlig transport och god hönshållning. Studiens resultat redogör för att konsumenter är positivt inställda till att betala ett högre pris för produkter producerade på ett etiskt vis och att etisk produktion är ett produktattribut som påverkar konsumenternas attityd gentemot konsumtion..

This is a study of Sensus Barnmusikskola ? Children?s School of Music, in Karlstad, Sweden?s attempts to facilitate integration and diversity in their operation. The Culture and Recreation Management in Karlstad town?s conditions to award the school their grant in 2009 was that Sensus Children?s school of Music should make targeted interventions in the socioeconomic exposed areas Gruvlyckan/Våxnäs and Kronoparken to increase the number of children with foreign background. The product purchaser of this project, Joakim Victorin at Sigma AB, has a keen interest in cycling, which resulted in a fairly obvious topic of this project; through a web application Sigma AB wanted to make it possible to handle results from professional as well as amateur competitions in cycling.The purpose of this web application is to simplify reporting and handling of competition for both small and bigger bicycle races. By providing the users of the system a platform independent client, any available device may be used.This thesis has followed the development principles which prevail on the ASP .NET MVC 3 concept. When developing the system the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 development environment was used. The framework and the pattern of ASP .NET MVC 3 is a prominent part of today?s web development.

Syfte: Att mäta kontrastkänsligheten på en multifokal kontaktlins, med tre olika additioner för att se om kontrastkänsligheten ändras med olika additioner.Metod: 19 personer deltog i studien. En Biofinity multifokal CD (center distance) kontaktlins valdes till studien. Testet gjordes med tre olika additioner, en låg addition på +1,00 D, en mellanaddition på +1,50 D och en hög addition på +2,00 D och även med en kontaktlins utan addition som också var Biofinity. Mätning av hög- och lågkontrastvisus 10 % gjordes med samtliga kontaktlinser.Resultat: Medelvärdet för högkontrastvisus var -0,15 logMAR för linsen utan addition, och något högre dvs. sämre visus med addition.

Micronic Laser Systems AB produces and develops machines for the photo mask production market. One of their products is the Omega machine which exposes photo masks using 5 laser beams simultaneously. It is important that the distance between the each laser beam, the x-separation, is the same. The x-separation is today measured by exposing a photo mask with a certain pattern and thereafter measured with a metrology system. This takes to much time and it is desired to find a faster method to measure the x-separation without loosing precision.The task for this master thesis is to improve an existing measurement method which uses a calibration mask.

A study was made to evaluate how current measurementscould help to determine how particles from fish farms are dispersed. During sixweeks of the summer 2012, two different current measurements were conducted.One of them consisted of measurements each fifth minute at 5 m and 15 m atthree locations for 14-16 days each. The other consisted of profilemeasurements at each location at four times during the period of six weeks. Forthe current measurements two instruments (model RCM 9) were used. A two weekmeasurement can give enough data to make an evaluation of how the currents at alocation will transport litter from a fish farm.

I takt med att urbaniseringen ökar och naturområdena krymper ombesörjs trädens fortlevnad bland annat av att många träd planteras. Långt ifrån alla träd lyckas dock etablera sig, varför det är så är en komplex fråga. Träden genomgår en lång resa från att de är unga plantor tills att de står som etablerade träd på sin slutgiltiga växtplats. SummaryAimThe study examines a theoretical model developed to capture cyclist´s perceptions of the route environment. The survey focuses on if level two and three in the theoretical model captures what it´s intended to do. More specific we ask ourselves how the three appraisals (unsafe/safe by traffic reasons, stimulating/inhibiting route environment, unsafe/safe by other reasons) in the model´s second level relates among themselves and if these three appraisals can capture the degree of environmental well-being/unwell-being in the model´s third level. The questions were: Do the three appraisals differ among themselves? What is the difference/-s in such cases? And, is there a correlation between any of the three appraisals and environmental unwell-being/well-being? What is the correlation in such case? MethodThe gathering of data was done through questionnaires.
