This report is the product of the course AF101X, a bachelors degree in Samhällsbyggnad atKTH. The task of the course is to design a small house at a given location and also implement adeepening study. The house in this report is located in Kiruna in the north of Sweden, where theclimate is much colder than in the rest of the country.The deepening study of this report is to evaluates how realistic passive housing north of thePolar Circle is based on those facts. The house will to some extent be designed to fit the passivehousing standard.

Title: Veingeskolan F - Investigation of the indoor environment and a structural analysisMethod: Complete analysis of structural drawings to determine if the school have been constructed correctly. In my teorethical studies of the drawings I must seek out points that may have been damaged from moisture, this contains a full survey of the foundation, walls and ceiling. To strenghten the data collected from the drawings I must visit the school and do field investigations to find out if the school has any problems with the indoor environment.Analysis: I determined that we had some damages on specific places, these damages was caused by leaking roofs, a carpet that was tarnished by strong sunlight in connection with some type of glue and also the ventilation that may have been drawing malodorous air from a shaft in the foundation.Conclusion: I was able to see that the decision to demolish the school was quite drastic, if the county would have done continuous fixups on the construcion when the employes had complained maybe the action to the tear the school down would have been unnecessary. The lack of communication between the two parts lead up to the decision to demolish and build a complete new school..

Denna rapport är ett inledande steg mot att förbättra arbetsmiljön för svetsare vid påsvetsning med Uddcomb Metoden i massakokare. Syftet med rapporten är att analysera problemet med värme och dålig luft samt förklara hur och varför problemet uppstår. I arbetet ingår även att ta fram olika lösningar för att slutligen hitta ett komplett system för ventilation och kylning. Den föreslagna lösningen består av ett integrerat kylsystem och ett koncept med mindre fläktar, kallade torpeder, som monteras på arbetsplanen vilka driver ut varm och smutsig luft snabbare ur kokaren. Den föreslagna lösningen utreds även ur ett ekonomiskt perspektiv.

Energy price are on the way up to a high level that will not diminish in the future make us to focus more on the sustainable development for a better solution of residential houses. Passive house or low energy housing are one of the solution to make residential more environment friendly, in same time it´s a financial security using less energy, and saving money. The last 10 years in Germany and all around Europe the concept of passive house been developed, and people aim to know more about these concept that leading the market more attractive for passive houses. A passive house is a well designed building highly insulated and air tight with mechanical ventilated system for the whole building envelope that minimizes the use of energy for heating [1].The housing company Mimer has chosen to invest in low energy consumption in every new housing project.  These future plan projects are decided to use less than 75 kwh per square meter annually in purchased energy [2].This thesis is about new constructed passive houses, and focuses on the evaluations of the temperature, and moisture condition for attic, external walls and joist.

Since 2004, wind power has had the largest installation of new capacity compared to other energy sources in Sweden. Accommodating new wind power may require strengthening or rebuilding of the existing grid in areas where the grid is already loaded to maximum capacity. This master thesis examine the possibility of a new 400/130 kV substation in Yttermalung, Sweden, with a connection to the two neighboring regional grids in Dalarna and Värmland owned by Fortum. This substation would provide a new connection point to the Swedish transmission system as well as an interconnection of the two, currently separated, regional grids. Different expansion scenarios where a substation with and without series compensation or a phase shifting transformer (PST) to control active power flow were studied.

Innovativa passiva lösningar kan bidra till förhöjd klimatkomfort och sänkt energianvändning i kontorsbyggnader. I rapporten har flera passiva lösningar och deras egenskaper identifierats. Självdrag och växter har varit rapportens största fokus som fördjupningsdel. Självdragets förmåga att klara av ventilationsflödet i en kontorsbyggnad med atrium, belägen i Stockholm har simulerats i programmet IES-ve och dess CFD-modul. Då utomhustemperaturen ligger under 12 °C fungerar självdrag enligt rekommendationerna.

Chapter 1 defines the aim of the project and gives a general orientation about ground heat extractors. In chapter 2 physical processes that could be expected to be involved in the heat transport around a ground heat exchanger are discussed. It is shown from a literature study what amount of moisture transport due to thermal gradients there could be expected in a ground heat exchanger. The conclusion is drawn that the moisture gradient (Sr) is of same magnitude as the driving temperature gradient (°C). At the expected amount of increased moisture around the pipes the moisture transport could be considered to have a little effect on the brine temperature.

Pappersbruket BillerudKorsnäs AB är idag en av Sveriges ledande tillverkare och leverantör av förpackningspapper, kartong samt wellråvaror. Företaget har en framtida målsättning att i tillverkningsprocessen bli självförsörjande på energi och detta genom en intern förbränning av biobränsle i form av bark och flis i sodapannor. Sodapannan utgör på så sätt fabrikens energidistributionssystem. Vid den kontinuerliga förbränningen av svartlut följer stoft och slagg med rökgaserna och fastnar på sodapannans värmeytor som består av rörpanel. Detta är problematiskt då slagg på värmeytorna försämrar värmeupptagningen och gör den ineffektiv.

Bakgrund: De flesta inomhusbadanläggningar är idag 30-60 år gamla och många anläggningar har stora problem med skador på både byggnader och bassänger. Skadorna är ofta så pass allvarliga att det inte längre är lönsamt att renovera utan på många platser planerar man att bygga nya bad. För att undvika framtida problem är det viktigt att dra lärdom av vilka skador och problem som har inträffat samt hur man vid nybyggnation och renovering ska kunna undvika dem. Vid byggande av dagens inomhusbadanläggningar tillämpas främst tidigare branscherfarenheter. Det faktum att så stora brister och omfattande problem förekommer, tyder på att kunskapen är otillräcklig.

SUMMARY The interest of horses in the riding sector has increased the last decades. A large amount of horses are transported in a 1 or 2-horse trailer, which is pulled by a car. Today a large number of different products and designs of trailers can be found on the market. The difference in shaping of trailers depends on tradition and experience. There are no detailed directions on the demands for shaping of horse trailers today. The literature review contains a market analysis of both Swedish and imported horse trailers.

Människans totala energiomsättning bestäms av basalmetabolism, termisk effekt av föda och energiförbrukning genom aktivitet. Genom att mäta energiförbrukningen före och efter måltid hos en individ, kan man uppskatta den relativa termiska effekten hos olika typer av föda. Syftet med uppsatsen är att studera hur måltidens innehåll av protein påverkar den termiska effekten. I studien ingick 12 personer i åldrarna 19 ? 57 år varav 9 kvinnor och 3 män.

Efficient energy use in the housing sector is crucial for achieving a sustainable society. The expansion of this sector only represents a fraction of the existing houses, hence it?s within the existing houses the potential for energy savings lie. This potential has been analyzed in order to determine if it?s possible to cut the current energy demand in half.

The borehole heat exchangers of today suffer from poor thermal and hydrodynamic performance. The purpose of this thesis is to improve the performance of ground source heat pump systems and thermal energy storages by increasing the energy efficiency of the borehole heat exchangers. For this reason, the annular coaxial borehole heat exchanger (CBHE) has been analyzed. This type of heat exchanger is interesting in terms of both thermal and hydrodynamic performance. A model has been set up in the program Comsol Multiphysics in order to investigate the heat transfer characteristics along the borehole.

Lidköpings värmeverk har i uppgift att producera värme till Lidköpings invånare och företag. Distributionen sker via kommunens fjärrvärmenät. Värmeverket har förutom ren värmeproduktion även möjlighet att producera el och kyla bort ett visst effektöverskott sommartid.I dagsläget har värmeverket inga klara riktlinjer för hur elproduktionen och bortkylningen av värmen ska hanteras vilket är av betydande del för värmeverkets ekonomi. En ökad kunskap om hur man tar tillvara på förfogad energi har efterfrågats och är en del i att hjälpa Sverige som land att uppnå uppsatta miljö- och energimål.Med linjärprogrammering har en beräkningsmodell tagits fram för att utifrån givna förutsättningar optimera driften av värmeverket. Mot historiska lastdata har modellen använts för att:Utreda hur väl värmeverket har tagit tillvara på förfogad energi.

The building sector accounted for around a fourth of the total energy usage in Sweden in year 2010 (Energimyndigheten, 2012). Therefore it has become very interesting to achieve a lower energy usage in residential buildings. One way to achieve that is to build so called passive houses. By being very well insulated and have low leakage through the walls, they can reduce the energy usage for heating with a substantial amount. The first passive house was built during the 90?s in Germany; and in Sweden the first passive house was built in Gothenburg 2001.
