Authorities, municipalities and county councils have great opportunities to pave the way to a sustainable society. In the public sector, the tax revenue is used and therefore it is important that both employees and societal stakeholders feel that they participate in the sector?s decisions and fields of application. Municipalities and county councils are primarily service organisations. The employees? commitment is necessary to be able to reach set goals, to develop procedures and policies that support the overall political goals, in other words, to be successful in the environmental work.

The purpose of this retrospective study was to investigate the prescription of antibiotics to dogs at the small animal clinic at Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire, Nantes, France. The purpose was also to compare the possible prescription patterns in France with those seen in a similar study by Petersson (2003) at the small animal clinic at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala. Antibiotics are very important in veterinary medicine and are used both to treat infections and to prevent them. The use of antibiotics however is not without complications and the risk of developing antimicrobial resistance is of most concern. Resistance has been shown to exist against all currently known antibiotics and potentially all pathogenic bacteria could develop resistance to one or more antibiotics. This study analysed the case records for all dogs presented to the small animal clinic at Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire, Nantes, France during October 2001 and March 2002 to identify patients which were treated with systemic antibiotics. For these cases the antibiotic used, classified according to the ATCvet system, and the indication for use was noted. A total of 292 cases (146 per month) resulted in administration of systemic antibiotics.

This thesis was commissioned by Tekniska verken, Energy Division with the overall aim to investigate the concept of environmental debt and what it means for a business. Furthermore, a sustainable risk and responsibility investigation shall be carried out on the concerned areas. Finally, the priority areas shall be highlighted and proposed actions presented. The Swedish Environmental debt concept was presented in 1992 by Arne Jarnelöv. Environmental debt is defined as restoration costs for environmental damage. In the early days the concept did not take into account who was responsible, but the environmental debts was regarded as a humanity debt to future generations.

Governments needed to broaden their political decision making procedures in order to coordinate and integrate environmental, social and economic policies. Therefore a new tool was introduced in Agenda 21, National Strategies for Sustainable Development (NSDS). The aim of an NSDS would be to bring together actors from all parts of society to jointly reach a consensus on how to work towards the vision of a sustainable society. An NSDS would be seen as a strategic tool to help focus national policies for SD.

High quality within a Lean production system begins with standardised work, which creates stable processes able to generate predictable output. If nonconformity from the standard procedures occurs, routines are needed to analyse, correct and prevent the nonconformity from occurring again. In that way, the nonconformity can be a trigger for continuous improvements toward more stable processes. In takted production lines, where the operator follows a standard sequence with tasks set to be completed within the takt time, a nonconformity leads to downtime in the operator?s sequence, and no value is added.

Recently, anew group of construction materials started to play an important role in roadconstruction ? geosynthetics.This thesis addresses the two most common types ofgeosynthetics used in modern road construction, namely geogrids and geotextiles.The most common use of geogrids is reinforcement of poor subgrade by usinggeogrid soil reinforcement, which occurs when road material particles wedge inthe geogrid?s mesh. Geotextiles act partly as a barrier that prevents the finermaterial in the below ground from being mixed with coarser upper material andalso act as a load spreader.Road contractors often face a choice of whether geogrids and/or geotextiles areappropriate in a particular road project and also how much profit the choice mightbring. The purpose of this study has been to investigate the prospects for identifying and prosecuting individuals suspected of war crimes, within the process of exclusion from refugee status under article 1F(a) of the 1951 Refugee Convention, and using subsequent mechanisms for extradition or prosecution in international criminal law. A number of principles within human rights law and public international law have been advocated by the UNCHR and several human rights NGOs as necessary for a thorough application of the exclusion clauses; one that takes individual responsibility into account and upholds the aims and purposes of the exclusion clauses. There is a discussion as to whether specialised or accelerated exclusion procedures are justified for reasons of security and efficiency, or if they put the rights of the individual at risk and limit the opportunities for gathering information to support investigation and prosecution of the crime in question. Apart from the instruments of asylum law and procedure that have emerged within the EU harmonisation process, there are no general, binding rules on the procedural aspects of the exclusion clauses. One principle that regulates the consequences for the individual of exclusion from refugee status and decisions on extradition is, however, the principle of non-refoulement.

Denna uppsats behandlar frågan om rätten till eutanasi och läkarassisterade självmord. Den svenska lagstiftningen och praxisen på området har jämförts med den holländska motsvarigheten, då Holland 2001 blev det första landet i världen som legaliserade eutanasi och läkarassisterade självmord.Frågan om rätten till självvalt livsavslut är ingenting nytt men ändock är frågan kontroversiell och ger upphov till fler frågor än den kan ge svar på. Frågorna som skall besvaras i den här uppsatsen lyder:Vilka likheter respektive skillnader finns mellan den svenska rättsliga hållningen avseende eutanasi och den holländska Termination of Life on Request and Assisted Suicide (Review Procedures) Act (2001)? Vilka filosofiska spörsmål och konsekvenser bör man ta ställning till innan en legalisering sker och hur skulle en svensk lagstiftning kunna utformas?I Sverige är det inte olagligt att begå självmord eftersom det är ett angrepp mot den egna rättssfären. Således är det inte heller olagligt att hjälpa någon att ta sitt eget liv.

Flamskyddande kemikalier används idag inom en hel del olika områden. Ett stort område är textil, där hemtextil är dominerande. Det finns en mängd olika typer av flamskydd på marknaden. Alla har till uppgift att sakta ner brandförloppet eller helt förhindra att en brand uppstår. De halogenerade flamskydden är de mest effektiva men har många kopplingar till miljöproblem.

Läsning av barnlitteratur anses i den svenska läroplanen vara en viktig del av undervisningen då den kan bidra till personlighetsutveckling, kulturell förståelse och motivation till vidare läsning. Att lära sig läsa är en förutsättning för att kunna tillgodogöra sig skönlitteraturen. Ett sätt är genom läsinlärningsmetoden whole language som med hjälp av kiwiböckerna fått genomslag i flera svenska skolor. Kiwimaterialet är ämnat för att skapa läsförståelse samt läsintresse och är baserat på småböcker från Nya Zeeland. Då både val av läsinlärningsmetod och barnlitteratur är viktiga delar i elevers läsutveckling, väcktes en undran om det går att sammanföra traditionell barnlitteraturläsning med kiwiböckernas systematiska upplägg och färdiga bokmaterial.
