The purpouse of this study is to find out how and if a Content Managment System (CMS) can benefit from applied User Experience Design (UX). A work project has been executed where a client wanted the students to create a user friendly CMS for adding content to a global hotel review site. A prototype of a CMS was created based on literature studies about UX and CMS. The prototype of the user friendly CMS was then tested through user tests and interviews with key users. De avancerade tekniska enheterna blir ständigt fler och människan blir allt mera beroende av att ha med dem överallt för att utföra olika ärenden. I de flesta fall rör det sig om så kallade smarta telefoner och surfplattor. Nu när vi privat har tillgång till de senaste och mest avancerade enheterna börjar användandet av dem för arbetsrelaterade uppgifter få fart och begreppet Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) växer fram. Verksamheter ser efterfrågan ifrån sina anställda som vill arbeta från sin egen enhet och försöker möta behovet. Dock ökar säkerhetsriskerna när företagsdata laddas ner till den anställdes privata enhet och vandrar med dem ut ifrån kontoret.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine and analyze how to improve the design of a Microsoft Surface SUR40 application. The application in focus was an interactive product browser developed by the company Spree, our external client. Spree is a multi-touch software provider, established in September 2010 and they expressed a need for suggestions for how to improve this application. Our work aimed at revealing how to make the application more suitable for several users and make it easier for them to interact simultaneously on the surface. From a qualitative standpoint we have examined how 17 users experienced the application.

The purpose of this study was to examine how local producers in the food and confectionery segment in Västernorrland, Sweden, working to communicate that the product is locally produced through its packaging design. We have chosen to look at how they work with the right packaging design because it is such an important part of the product marketing. A further aim was to examine how consumers perceive the packaging design of the locally produced products and how they consider that the packaging design communicates the product as locally produced. We have also analyzed the graphical elements contained in the locally produced product packaging through a semiotic analysis.The theoretical framework is based on theories in brand communication and Visual Communication, specializing in packaging design?s visual elements.The method used in this study is a qualitative method.

Denna rapport är ett examensarbete inom maskinteknik på c-nivå (15hp). Då författaren ansåg att dagens hammockar inte utvecklats speciellt mycket sedan de blev populära i Sverige på 60-talet, valde han att ägna detta arbete åt att försöka ta fram en mer modern sådan. Projektet har huvudsakligen handlat om produktutveckling och design där mycket tid spenderats på att lösa alla de olika problem som de satta kraven på nya funktioner bidragit till. Arbetet startade med en omfattande förstudie. Därefter vidareutvecklades de olika idéer som framkom under förstudien ytterligare.

The task for this thesis is to design a tool that is used to cut-out preforms of thermoplastic adhesive and also to make an estimate of costs for the stamping tool. The tool is used in the repair process at the MCM production line. The result of gathered information has affected how the design of the stamping tool has developed. The handling of thermoplastic adhesive in the repair process is one of the factors that influenced the design. The adhesive is sensitive for exposure to moisture. Therefore an automated feeding system of the adhesive is not recommended. The users wished for an automated stamping tool.

Arbetet har utförts i kursen Examensarbete för högskoleingenjörsprogrammet i Innovations-teknik och design (MSGC12) vid Karlstads universitet. Handledare har varit universitetsadjunkt Lennart Wihk och examinator professor Leo de Vin.Uppdraget har bestått i att genomföra en designstudie på CamCoil, ett haspelsystem inom främst tillverkande industrin. Anledningen till detta är att uppdragsgivaren, Camatec Industriteknik AB, vill att produkten ska göras mer konkurrenskraftig och öka chanserna att kunna sälja maskinen utanför Sveriges gränser. Målet är att skapa en varumärkessignifikativ konceptlösning som är kompatibel med haspelsystemets många olika utföranden. Handledare hos uppdragsgivaren har varit Mikael Hallenborg.Studien är utförd enligt produktutvecklingsprocessen.

This project will search for the sound in the contemporary landscape architecture, an attempt to combine music and land­scaping. In a first stage, I have searched for outdoor environments where loudspeakers are used, and sites with a concious sound design. The project will result in a sound design created for the park Frodeparken in Uppsala, Sweden. In my search for sites and examples of conscious sound, I have talked to the people behind the projects I found - landscape architects, sound artists and architects. Influences from different areas have been essential for me in the project.

There is a lot written about being hearing impaired. There are guidelines on how to adjust the indoor environment for the hearing impaired. There is even more written about gardening and garden design from different aspects. However, I found out that there is nothing written about garden design or adjusting the outdoor environment for the hearing impaired. At the background of myself being hearing impaired and garden designer I realised that I actually had adjusted my own garden out of the fact that I am hearing impaired.

My aim in this case study has been to create a method for creature design to test this method in a production and evaluate the results. To achieve this I studied and analyzed the methods of three concept artists and illustrators named James Gurney, Neville Page and Iain McCaig. From the analysis of these artist´s methods, combined with my own personal experience, a new method was formed. To test this method a creature was designed based on directives given by a game design group in the process of creating a table top role playing game in a fictitious world. These directives where given for the creature´s role and its living conditions.

»Does it have to be so green?« is a visual communication project focused on packaging design. I attempted to challenge the clichés of graphic design for organic products and designed a packaging concept for a fictional food brand. The project had a special objec¬tive which was to explore ways to use the package as carrier for in¬formation about the enviromental impact of the packaging itself.The process included research about packaging design and its ef¬fect on the consumer, an investigation of the Swedish market for organic foods, creating and defining a brand, and designing a cohe¬rent packaging concept for a product line which communicates the brand?s values and appeals to the intended target group.The project resulted in prototypes for a muesli package, tea car¬ton and honey jar, as well as a manual that explains the application of the graphic program..

Det har sedan bilens uppkomst funnits samhällsdebatter kring vilket bränsle som är mest passande. Trots att fossila bränslen dominerar som fordonsbränsle, har debatten om alternativa bränslen pågått under en längre tid. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka en del av denna debatt. Inriktningen är fokuserad på el och biogas som alternativa bränslen i Sverige. Ett antal debattartiklar ur tidsskrifter har valts ut och analyserats med en diskursanalytisk metod.

Studien handlar om hur förskollärare på en förskola med teknikprofil talar om teknik ochteknikarbete samt deras tal om teknisk kompetens. Syftet med denna studie är att ta reda på hur förskollärare på en förskola med uttalad profilering mot teknik talar och arbetar med teknik. Dessutom syftar studien till att redogöra för förskollärares syn på kompetens vad avser teknik samt i relation till barns lärande om teknik i förskolan. För att ta reda på det intervjuade jag förskollärare med flera års erfarenhet av teknikarbete. Innehållet i intervjuerna och det observerade teknikmaterialet på förskolan låg till grund för studiens resultat.
