To be more precise the purpose is to find out how the discourse is constructed. The Birdflu or H5N1 witch is its real name is something that could affect us all, yet very few people know a lot about it. To achieve this purpose I constructed one primary research question:o How has Expressen, in the public media discourse, treated the phenomena we know as the birdflu?This primary research question holds three more specified research questions:o What does Expressens discourse about the birdflu look like?o What actors are participating in the articles?o Why does the discourse look like this?THEORY The theory chapter of the essay contains four different parts.

Tar pulsen på reportaget : En studie av reportagegenrens förändring i en storstadstidning och en regionaltidning mellan år 2000 och 2011

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka huruvida nyhetsreportaget som berättarform har förändrats i storstadstidningarna Dagens Nyheter och Göteborgs-Postens huvuddelar med avseende på utrymme och språkliga uttrycksformer mellan åren 2000 och 2011, under en vecka i mars och en vecka i oktober båda åren. Den undersökta tidsperioden är vald utifrån det formatbyte som många dagstidningar gick igenom på 2000-talet, Dagens Nyheter och Göteborgs-Posten bytte slutgiltigt format från det större broadsheet till Tabloid år 2004. Undersökningen består huvudsakligen av en kvalitativ metod, en massmedieretorisk analysmetod, men även en kvantitativ del där antalet reportage under tidsperioden räknades och bidrog till en helhetsbild av materialet.Undersökningen visar att antalet nyhetsreportage i de valda tidningarna minskat med cirka 30 procent 2011 jämfört med år 2000 enligt min definition. Reportagen delades in i två för ändamålet självdefinierade kategorier, hel- och halvreportage, beroende på hur mycket reportagekaraktär texterna hade. Undersökningen visade en minskning av nyhetsreportagen med en högre reportagekaraktär år 2011 jämfört med år 2000.

The starting point is to study whether game framing is occuring in media coverage of Nobel Prize in Literature. Previously, game framing has been studied in coverage of politcs, contrasted against issue framing. Game framing means that media frame politics as a game, a contest between politicians about power. This kind of framing is supposed to be used by media in purpose of attracting larger audience.

The purpose of this BA-thesis was to study how three daily Swedish newspapers use a specific type of exemplars, which are recognized by a number of attributes. A photograph of the person that is interviewed always illustrates this type of exemplars and at least two persons are asked the same question.    The three newspapers that have been compared in this study each represent one of the major types of Swedish newspapers: morning press, Tabloids and local press. By using a quantitative content analysis, one month was examined in all three newspapers in the year of 1997 and 2007.  Two of the theories that have been central in the thesis are Colin Sparks model of Tabloidization, which demonstrates the process of Tabloidization and McQuail?s description of commercialization.

This study concerns how Muslims are portrayed in a choice of twelve news articles from Swedish dailies and Tabloid newspapers on the aftermath of the film Innocence of Muslims published on YouTube. All articles are distributed in the newspapers Aftonbladet, Expressen, Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet in the period of September 11th, 2012 until September 30th, 2012.For this study, a qualitative text analysis has been embraced and focus has been on van Dijk?s Critical discourse analysis to the texts, with additional features from semiotics applied on the images.The theories consist of Critical discourse analysis, hegemony, ideology and power, postcolonialism and stereotyping.In the qualitative content analysis, concrete examples from the articles are retrieved and commented. These have been divided into various themes, which are trends that the authors have been able to distinguish in the analysis.The result shows that Muslims in the analyzed newspapers are portrayed as the others, unimportant and extremely religious, in a negative manner rather than a positive. Moreover the press has tendencies to generalize Muslims as a group.

This BA Thesis in Journalism is a quantitative analysis of the coverage of wolves in Swedish printed media. Namely four daily newspapers, two national and two local. The two national newspapers are Aftonbladet which is a leading Tabloid newspaper with national coverage and Svenska Dagbladet which is one of the two major newspapers with national coverage, as well as coverage of the greater Stockholm region. The two local newspapers are Falu Kuriren, which is located in Falun and mainly cover the province of Dalarna and Nya Wermlands-tidningen which is located in Karlstad and mainly cover the province of Värmland. These are provinces which have a large wolf population.As the work progressed we found that the newspapers have handled the coverage of the wolf in, what we believe, a good way.

Skattefrågor, opinionsmätningar och militärskämt : Hur Aftonbladet och Svenska Dagbladet gestaltade den amerikanska valrörelsen 2012

During a political election the public?s interest in politics and political journalism increases significantly. During the American presidential election in 2012 a big amount of articles on that topic were published in two of Sweden?s largest newspaper, Svenska Dagbladet and Aftonbladet. Political journalism tends to frame politics as sports, game and scandals rather than focusing on the political issues.

En nypa socker : En kvantitativ analys av hur socker framställs i Aftonbladet 1995 och 2013

The subject for our bachelor thesis is how sugar is portrayed in Aftonbladet. By analyzing newspapers from 1995 and 2013 we wanted to research if the portrayal of sugar has changed during the years. We have noticed that there is a trend of being healthy and fit today. ?Strong is the new skinny? is a quote we can see in social media and on blogs today.

"Det finns bara en Zlatan" : En kvalitativ studie om varför Zlatan Ibrahimovic är Sveriges mest omskrivna sportprofil.

Fotbollspelaren Zlatan Ibrahimovic var 2010 och 2011 den mest omskrivna sportprofilen i svensk press och Aftonbladet och Expressen har varsin reporter på plats i Milano för att bevaka honom och hans lag AC Milan. Syftet med denna C-uppsats är att ta reda på vad sportjournalister på Aftonbladet och Expressen tror är anledningarna till att det skrivs så mycket om Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Vidare vill vi ta reda på hur de skriver om honom, varför de skriver som de gör, vilka egenskaper Zlatan Ibrahimovic har som gör att det skrivs så mycket om honom samt vad det stora fokuset på honom får för konsekvenser. I vår analys kommer vi koppla resultatet till teorier som maskulinitet inom sportjournalistiken, virvelvindseffekt och Tabloidisering.Vi har gjort en kvalitativ undersökning med hjälp av halstrukturerade djupintervjuer. Totalt har vi genomfört fem intervjuer med reportrar, krönikörer och nyhetschefer på de två kvällstidningarna i Sverige.

Två skidåkare i kvällspressen : - En studie om rapporteringen kring Charlotte Kalla och Marcus Hellner i OS 2010 och OS 2014

The purpose of this paper is to examine how the two Swedish cross-country skiers, Charlotte Kalla and Marcus Hellner are portrayed in the Tabloids Aftonbladet and Expressen. The study is based on theories of sports journalism, media- and gender studies. Within these theories there are beliefs that men and women are portrayed differently in sports journalism. Sports journalism is described as a subject where there is a hierarchy in which the man is often framed as dominant in relationship to the woman.This study was made in an attempt to examine whether this was the case in the Swedish Tabloid magazines Aftonbladet and Expressens coverage of the winter Olympics. Articles published about Charlotte Kalla and Marcus Hellner in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 were analyzed by a quantitative content analysis.
