Uppsala universitet: Institutionen för musikvetenskap uppsats för 60 p., 2005Jimi Hendrix var en komplex artist med en karismatisk personlighet. Han var även en skicklig musiker och kompositör. Dessutom var han en färgad rockartist som främst lockade till sig en vit publik. Det fanns med andra ord mycket för en svensk journalist att lägga vikt vid.

Det är temat demokrati och eventuella förbättringar för de fattiga som står i centrum. Chavez anhängare porträtteras som våldsbenägna, men på samma gång så får vi en bild av faktiska förbättringar och maktskifte till förmån för de fattiga..

Det finns lite forskning om kvinnliga förövare jämfört med vad det finns om manliga förövare och det verkar även finnas begränsningar i litteratur som kan handleda till exempel poliser och socialsekreterare i ämnet. Detta skulle kunna bero på att kvinnliga förövare utgör en sådan liten andel av det totala antalet förövare så att fenomenet inte uppmärksammas tillräckligt. Studien bygger på en diskursanalys av tidningsartiklar från Svensk press i syfte att granska hur media framställer kvinnliga förövare vid sexualbrott mot barn. Resultatet visar att de framträdande diskurserna är offerdiskurs, förövardiskurs och kunskapsdiskurs och att bilden av kvinnliga förövare konstrueras på olika sätt samt att detta skapar olika gestaltningar av verkligheten. Media har en viktig roll i hur en bild förmedlas och uppmärksammas samt stor makt när det gäller hur en diskurs rekonstrueras eller reproduceras.

Holy war against the aberration and the newspaper terrorismHeligt krig mot förvillelsen och tidningsterrorismen This paper explores Bernhard von Beskow?s (1796-1868) conservative critique of the, for the early 19th century, new dominating voice in public matters namely the liberal press. There are competing narratives about the emerging liberal press and its critics. On the one hand the conservative critics were seen as hopeless reactionaries which acted against freedom of the press, themselves stripped of positive ideals and/or handled with little interest as footnotes in the great story of the liberal victory over its opponents. On the other hand this story has been questioned and an alternative has been presented of how to understand the conservatives and their critique of the press.

 The aim of this essay is, by using tree conductive Swedish newspapers, see how thesubmarine violations that Sweden suffered during 1980s, was depicted in the Swedish press in terms of threats. Two major submarine violations will be investigated in this paper, U137-incident in Karlskrona archipelago in 1981 and Hårsfjärden-incident in Stockholm archipelago in 1982. To achieve the purpose, I use a qualitativ method and a threatperspective to answer my questions. These questions are for instance- From which nation, according to press reports, comes the threat?- What is, according to the press, threatened?The results show that the press saw the submarine violations as a major and serious threat that mainly come from Soviet Union.

The study aimed to shed light on the distribution of space in the newspaper between men and women, those within power and those without in Swedish local press. The study was conducted with four newspapers, during a month of time with local editorial news material. In our study, we have assumed Lippmann?s and Strömbäck?s theories of pseudo-reality and distribution of gender and position of power in Sahlstrand and Jarlbro.

The aim of this thesis is to examine how the Swedish daily press portraits librarians and the profession. I have used a discourse analytic study in my purpose to examine the image of librarians and the profession. I have analysed 34 articles between January 1, 2009 until January 1, 2010 from Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter, which are the two daily newspapers with the largest circulation in Sweden. I have used three major questions to answer the aim of my study: In what context do librarians and the profession appear in the daily press?What qualities are librarians assigned in the daily press?What views and attitudes about librarians and the profession appear in the articles?My analysis resulted in three discourses; discourse about librarians? relation to literature, discourse about librarians and the labour market and discourse about librarians and information.

The purpose of this thesis was to study the origin of the local news in local newspapers. Do the news originate mostly from the police, the municipality, from press releases or from the reporters own ideas? We also wanted to find out what kind of content predominated in texts with its origin in press releases respectively the reporters own ideas. Of course we also wanted to find out if there were any similarities or differences between the two studied newspapers.We used a type of constructed week, but with non random selection instead of random. We chose one of each weekday the newspapers were published and studied the news covered in the papers that specific day.

This essay focuses on the construction of so called "computer game addiction" or "computer game abuse" in the Swedish press during 2000-2006. During this period computer game addiction went from an obscure phenomenon to a legit reason for the involuntary commitment of a fourteen-year-old.The study's theory is based on several social constructionist ideas. Kitsuse and Spector's theories about constructing social problems as claims-making activities are used for understanding the actions of the individual and groups involved. Hewitt and Hall's article about quasi-theory is used to explain the construction of explainations for the new social phenomenon. Blumer's five-stage model is used for categorizing the construction of the new social problem.

Before the general election 2006 all of the Swedish parties represented in the Parliament held their political party conference. At each political party conference, the leader for respectively party held their opening speech, a speech that was covered by the press. This essay deals with how the press covers these speeches. Analysing how the different speeches were covered by the press, some tendencies regarding how the press report could be visualised. In this comparison the ?quantitative content analysis? was used.

I den här uppsatsen bedrivs en narrativ medieanalys av hur den svenska rapporteringen om Ukraina sett ut mellan januari 2004 och mars 2006 utifrån sex rikstäckande tidningar. Genom kvantitativa och kvalitativa metoder och med hjälp av ett ramverk av de teoretiska begreppen stereotyper, berättelser och diskussionen om "den Andre" i Europa, urskiljer och diskuterar jag ett antal huvudteman i bilden av Ukraina. De dominerande huvudteman i rapporteringen är den orange revolutionen, diskussionen om Ukraina i relation till öst och väst i Europa, historiska referenser och ekonomiska möjligheter.Bilden av Ukraina är förvånansvärt homogen i de olika tidningarna. Jag urskiljer en långsamt förändrad bild av Ukraina ? med den orange revolutionen som vändpunkt ? där landet går från att betraktas som ett Gränsland till ett Europaland.
