This thesis describes a conceptual design of a support frame for a synchronousgenerator used in a vertical axis wind power plant. In this system the generator isplaced on ground level. The thesis also considers the design of housing for thesupport frame and generator. The concept presented in this report is based on anearlier design. Besides geometric design, simplified simulations has been run in orderto optimize some of the parts included in the construction considering naturalfrequencies and structural strength.The result is presented as CAD-models andan assembly drawing..

External Thoughts is a studio based project with its purpose to throughworkshops establish contacts and create a dialouge about the content of contemporarygraphic design. Utgångspunkten för denna uppsats var att analysera gestaltningen av invandrare och utom-svensk kultur i svensk ungdomsfilm med syftet att uppmärksamma en eventuell bristande mångfald. Tillsammans med teorierna postkolonial teori och sociologi har sex utvalda filmer inom mellan åren 2006-2012 analyserats med problemställningar som ska lyfta fram den tänkbara frånvaron. Anledningen till problematiseringen av svensk ungdomsfilm kommer från kännedomen att ungdomsfilmens målgrupp är lättpåverkad och därför anser jag att denna genre har ett större ansvar när det gäller förmedling av ideologier och människosyn. Det samlade undersökningsmaterialet tyder på en omfattande avsaknad av icke-svensk etnicitet i filmer med svenska huvudkaraktärer, samt att de filmer som innefattar andra kulturer ofta skapar en intrig kring huvudkaraktärens etnicitet.  .

This report describes the process of developing a user-friendly and responsive archive website. The website is a Hi-fi prototype and was created for the company JG Communications, to serve as an archive for their customers? style guidelines. To create this website I have used HTML5 and CSS3 to make it responsive for various computer screens. I have also used PHP and some JavaScript to make some of the functions and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to make design elements for the prototype.

Rapporten beskriver ett examensarbete på 10 poäng som har genomförts av Moa Jantze, möbeldesignstuderande på Carl Malmsten Centrum för Träteknik och Design vid Linköpings Universitet. Rapporten består i huvudsak av två olika moment. Det första som beskriver skånska allmogemöbler och -textilier ur ett historiskt perspektiv och den andra som beskriver arbetet med att ta fram två produkter med inspiration ur allmogen. Projektets bakgrund är ett möbelprojekt som engagerat mig under hösten 2004, där jag tog fram en gungstol som presenterades i Malmstens monter på möbelmässan 2005. Gungstolen fick mycket uppmärksamhet både i svensk och internationell press och därmed väcktes ett större intresse för historien och mitt ursprung.

Syftet med min studie har varit att analysera svensk nationell identitetsprocess baserad på mediematerial rörande dispyten som i media kom att gå under namnet Kubakonflikten. Medieanalysen bygger på en totalundersökning av ett femtiotal artiklar under en tvåmånadersperiod våren 2007. Resultatet har påvisat hur svensk identitet produceras i relation till kubanen genom att tillskriva denne en stereotypisk karaktär vilken framställs som svensk identitets motpol. Centrala begrepp vilka genomsyrar svensk identitet har visat sig vara förnuft, modernitet och demokrati. Således verkade konflikten stärkande för en svensk identitet samtidigt som denna förflyttas mot en gemensam västerländsk identitet.

The project is about making a Re-Design of the Swedish Socialistic Newspaper ?Dagens ETC?. The background to the project is my search for commitment when I work with a specific customer or project and how importantthat commitment are?The project was from the beginning split up to three different phases. The meaning of the first phase where to make a re-design mainly based on a interview with Johan Ehernberg, the chef editor on ETC.The second phase was a design totally made of my own idea and creative view as a Graphic Designer.I had in mind to make the third phase based on the result of the first two phases.During phase one and two I reconsidered and decided to skip the third step and put more effort in to the two first ones.

Transcending sound design is possible. There are unseen possibilities and a great potential for improvement and development in sound and music design ? but there is a great difficulty penetrating the obstacles that lies in the way for such development to take place and to exist. The difficulties in being negotiable and productive lies more within the limits of the audience it has to gain, than in itself. It is as though music and sound design has to evolve very slowly, in an almost evolutionary style; one step at a time, to be accepted.

This study concerns design thinking and how to achieve usability when designing applicationsfor smart watches. The study's focus is on interaction and design for online auctionapplications such as Ebay and Tradera. After studying usability and design for devices withsmall screens, guidelines and design principles for interactive systems, we developed apaperprototype for an auction application. The prototype was used for testing our intervieweeswhile observing and asking questions. After collecting the data we analyzed the responses andfeedback on our prototype and combined the results to previous studies.

The IT industry is constantly evolving and it's more or less a requirement today for web developers to be familiar with and to be able to develop for all platforms. A technique that has taken hold and is now widely used is responsive design. Developing responsive design means adapting the layout to the viewing environment; the screen size. Another useful method when developing for different devices is the mobile first theory, which means developing for the mobile screen first. This is done to scale down the site and to clear unnecessary information in order to provide a better user experience.

Effects of climate change, urbanization and global homogenization are resulted in the degradation of land and losses of natural habitats. Ecological design integrates nature into urban environment by respecting natural ecological principles and processes and creating resilient urban biotopes which also can be used by local urban communities. The aim of the thesis is to answer the research questions: How ecological design principles can be applied for re-design of Toledo Riverfront (with requirements of the design competition)? and What is the ecological design in landscape architecture? I participated in the USA design competition with the aim to create a vision and redesign of Toledo Riverfront in Ohio State, USA. The site is located in the south point of Lake Erie. As a result of a long industrial activity, riverfront of Toledo had been transformed into inaccessible and abandoned brownfields. In my proposal I applied ecological design principles on three scales: the city of Toledo by reinforcing of ecological connection and creating green corridors along the river; the intermediate scale by suggesting public parks along the river front and on the fine level by proposing detailed design including remediation of the site and use of dredged material.

What if the emergency response directly knew exactly where to go and what to do if a road accident occured? During the last ten years the number of motorcyclists in Sweden has doubled. Every year, more than 300 riders are seriously injured and over 40 die in road accidents. Being found in time is critical to increase the chance of survival. The goal of this project is to use design methods to find a solution that enables a fast and adequate emergency response for motorcyclists and other unprotected road users..

In this study we are seeking to discover the norms in the design of logotypes and how they havechanged over time. To achieve this we have chosen to analyze the logotypes of twenty companies withthe largest expenditure on advertising in Sweden. We mapped chosen design attributes within the logoto discover the similarities and then we selected the five oldest brands to analyze how their logos havechanged over time. The design changes in the logotypes over time is can be related to the changingattitudes of the general public and the designers ambitions to draw on convention to create iconic designthat will spark brand-recognition. However many changes can?t be directly explained through changesin convention.
