The purpose of this thesis is to examine the role of nationalism in the former Yugoslavia conflicts, with focus on the most involved parts: Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The conflict was characterized by extensive ethnic cleansing between all ethnic groups (Muslims, Croats and Serbs). This study looks at three different nationalism theories formulated by Ernest Gellner, Benedict Anderson and Thomas Hylland Eriksen through a case study of former Yugoslavia. When the president of former Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito died and the communism in Europe was brought to an end Yugoslavia went towards its disintegration. This is when nationalism and ethnic separatism begins.

This report is the written documentation of a project work carried out at the Division of Engineering Materials at Luleå University of Technology in cooperation with Seco Tools AB. The project deals with the analysis of residual stresses in Ti-Al-N thin film grown on WC/Co cutting inserts. The composition of Al varied from 0% up to 75%. Increasing the Al content in the Ti(1-x)Alx N compound improves the compressive residual stresses even after annealing of the material. The experiments have been performed in a high temperature x-ray diffractometer (HTXRD) where the interplanar atomic spacing was determined in-situ and subsequent converted into stresses.

Intressenter har under de senaste åren ställt högre krav på att företag ska ta ett socialt ansvar vilket har bidragit till en omfattande debatt om Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Denna uppsats ämnar att undersöka hur Ericssons CSR integreras på organisationens huvudkontor i Kista. För att kunna svara på samhällets förväntningar är det väsentligt för företag att integrera CSR djupt i organisationen. För att integrera CSR presenterar denna uppsats en fyrstegsprocess som bygger på att företag bör ha en intern CSR röst, att de ska mäta CSR aktiviteterna, att företaget ska ha ett proaktivt synsätt och att det ska ske en attitydförändring angående CSR i företaget. Genom att analysera Ericssons CSR-aktiviteter utifrån denna process kan vi konstatera att Ericsson integrerar sina CSR aktiviteter via sitt ledningssystem, sin Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability rapport, intern kommunikation och utbildning och dialoger med företagets interna intressenter.

This thesis studies the Swedish advertising business as an actor in the national formation of Sweden. It argues that earlier research has ignored to see advertising businesses as possible forces of these formations. The essay investigates how this appears historically through collaboration with an informational organisation that had risen due to the Second World War and that was a part of the national defence. I can, by investigating a discussion that focused on this informational organisation and the advertising businesses relation to it, show how the business as an effect of a civic engagement expressed an interest to participate in the informational work. Det finns idag en mängd forskning som visar hur eleven påverkas av familj och hemförhållanden då eleven gör sitt utbildningsval inför framtiden. Både intervjustudier och enkätstudier har påvisat hur elever, mer eller mindre medvetet, gör sina val med utgångspunkt i de sociala förutsättningar som eleven har i och med sin uppväxtmiljö. Att det ser ut på det här viset kan leda till att skola och utbildning är med och reproducerar ojämlikhet samt att upp-rätthålla klasskillnader i samhället. För att skola och utbildning ska ha möjlighet till att skapa och möjliggöra lika förutsättningar för alla elever, måste bakomliggande faktorer gällande elevens gymnasieval synliggöras och problematiseras. I föreliggande studie har det gjorts tio intervjuer med elever i årskurs nio, där de tillsammans med en av sina föräldrar samtalar kring frågor om kunskap, utbildning och gymnasieval.

This Bachelor of Science thesis was carried out at Metso Panelboard AB, located in Sundsvall, Sweden. The work lasted for 10 weeks and began at the end of February 2007. Metso Panelboard is one of the leading suppliers of complete lines, single machines, engineering knowledge and after-market services to the fibreboard industries. The task involved building a 3D-model of a dryer cyclone in the CAD-program Pro/ENGINEER. A dryer cyclone is the part where the tree fibres are dried in the process of manufacturing fibreboards. Currently, it takes about two weeks to draw a dryer cyclone. By creating a 3D-model of it, which should have the functionality to be generated to different sizes, the goal is to decrease the drawing time to about 20 hours and to increase the quality of the work. This report includes the fundamental theories behind the manufacturing of fibreboards with focus on the dryer cyclone.

The purpose of this study is to examine a brand?s green marketing and its consumers? perception of it in order to compare these views. The idea is to find a potential gap and what effect it may have on the brand. A case study has therefore been made with the grocery market brand Coop with focus on organic food. The material used consists of texts from Coop?s website to represent their brand.

The purpose of this study was to investigate how Swedish retail companies work with CSR internationally.The study also sought to explore the opportunities and challenges that exist, and the stakeholders that motivate companies CSR commitment.The theoretical framework is composed of international CSR guidelines of the OECD and the UN, Carroll's CSR pyramid and three-stage model and Freeman's stakeholder theory. Furthermore a qualitative research approach was applied where four in-depth interviews were conducted with representatives from Axfood, Löfbergs Lila, Oriflame and CSR Sweden.Finally, the study demonstrated the conclusion that the companies CSR strategies are structured in a similar way regardless of the market. CSR attract and retain workers, create a good reputation for brands and results in working conditions, living standards and environmental improvements. Difficulties, however, are the complexity of being able to control each partner and manage differences in language, laws and culture between countries. Finally there are a number of stakeholders that motivate companies to work with CSR, of which shareholders are considered the most important..

The purpose of this legal dogmatic Bachelor Thesis is to define the legal definition of ?a rescue service? and illustrate the division of responsibilities between national authorities and the municipalities with regards to the execution of emergency response operations.?A rescue service? means the emergency response actions that national and municipal authorities are legally obliged to provide to prevent or minimise injury to people and damage to property or the environment when emergencies occur or seem imminent. In the following cases a national authority is responsible for providing the requisite rescue service:1. Målet med detta arbete är att bättre förstå hur riktlinjer ska skapas och användas. Utgångspunkten har varit att media uppmärksammat ett flertal incidenter där främmande människor tog oönskad kontakt med olika förskolor i Karlskronaområdet. Författarna ville då se över hur kommunen arbetade med frågor om yttre hot vilket medförde att arbetet utmynnade i ett försök om att bättre försöka få förståelse för riktlinjer och dess användning då kommunen vid arbetets start saknade riktlinjer för yttre hot av denna typ. Metoden som använts är av kvalitativ art i form av intervjuer med några säkerhetsansvariga för förskolor i andra svenska kommuner. Resultatet av dessa intervjuer tillsammans med kompletterande material från generella tillvägagångssätt för identifikation och analys av säkerhetsproblem resulterade i ett förslag på arbetsmetoden vid skapandet av riktlinjer samt en påminnelse om att se över befintliga riktlinjer för yttre hot..

The aim of this qualitative study was to give an deeper understanding of how employees in the engineering industry experienced health education and how they understood and gave meaning to the terms health and health education. The study was based on interviews with eight men and women who participated in a health education project which had been held on their workplace. When the study took place the interviewees were in the age between 28 and 58 years. The results indicate that the employees understood health as a combination of both physical and psychological factors. The positive aspects described by the interviewees based on their experiences from the project were increase physical activities and that the project had helped them to get a better diet.

Försvarets Materielverk (FMV) är en civil myndighet som sköter all anskaffning av materiel och tjänster åt Försvarsmakten (FM). Vid anskaffning måste de rätta sig efter de upphandlingslagar som gäller i Sverige, bland annat Lag (2007:1091) om offentlig upphandling (LOU) samt Lag (2011:1029) om upphandling på försvars- och säkerhetsområdet (LUFS). För att anskaffningsprocessen ska bli lyckad krävs att FM tydligt definierar det behov de har gällande anskaffning av varor och tjänster. Än viktigare är att FMV bryter ner behoven i väldefinierade och tydliga krav. Detta för att undvika missförstånd och tolkningar som kan leda till att den vara eller tjänst som levereras inte motsvarar behovet.

The purpose of this Masters thesis is to investigate the reasons for public libraries to have story-time today and also the reasons for story-time at the public library historically in Sweden. Why is the phenomenon of story-time still existing at public libraries today? The study is based on a questionnaire that was sent to childrens librarians in the Västra Götaland region. The material collected in this questionnaire was put together and resulted in six different categories showing the libraries purposes and thoughts of their story-time activities. The categories were: cultural heritage/tradition, joy of reading, language and imagination, library visits, storytelling and mutual experience.
