The aim of this thesis is to try to make the mathematics content of textile handicraft visible. This is done through an attempt at integrated studies in the two subjects with 6th grade Students.The main question is: In what way may integrated studies in mathematics and textile handicraft lead to making the mathematics content of textile handicraft visible to the Students? This question has been divided into three sub-questions: 1. What knowledge do Students have on the order of the millimeter, centimeter, decimeter and meter units of length?, 2.

During the past twenty years, the Swedish school systems have slowly changed to becomemore and more performance-driven. Private schools have been growing in general and, likeindependent schools and schools managed by municipalities, they profile themselves. Schoolsare becoming more performance and result-oriented, which has changed the roles of teachersin a dramatic way and is in general, still changing.By profiling Students based on theirindividual performance, schools are able to help Students identify themselves and their owngoals. The process of profiling is a slow one in which some teachers adapt more quickly thanothers, and one that is critical for other teachers to learn in order to keep up with the demandsof society.Schools, like ordinary businesses, are in constant competition with each other to keep up withthe newest and greatest models of teaching and to rank among the best in high achievements.Perhaps the downside of this modern school structure is that it is often difficult to have aschool where both school management and teachers see eye to eye. School management must heavily focus on the school?s results as a whole.

I have chosen to write this essay on language development in a preparatory class due to the fact that I live in a city where diversity is big and newly arrived Students from different countries are constantly increasing in schools. My study has been made in a preparatory class in Södertälje. The National Agency for Education highlights the deficiencies in preparatory classes and believes that education is not adapted to each Student's knowledge and maturity and it is therefore difficult for Students to reach the goals in school. According to studies by the National Agency for Education, it appears that many newly arrived Students do not recieve study guide in their native language, a resource that they are entitled to. Teachers and principals do not take charge of  Students knowledge from previous school attendance in their home countries such as mathematics, history and other subjects.

A crisis is something that can happen to all of us in an unexpected situation, and the school should be prepared in a way that is the best way to handle a situation with a wide foundation through a crisis plan. On a well-defined way, you should have a developed and relevant emergency plan. Defining the word crisis can be difficult, it is an individual interpretation, and to get found out what the word stands for and it have to be discussed. The two selected schools that I have chosen to interview have discussed the understanding of the word crisis in able to get what the word means for them. The two selected schools have come to the conclusion that a crisis is something that creates disturbances for people or a person concerned to the everyday way of living.

Since studies points out declining interest in science among Students in Swedish schools, I have in this paper chosen to examine how some Students at the Social Science Programme are experiencing the lessons in Natural Science and how to make lessons more interesting according to these Students.The purpose of this study was to gain a greater understanding of how teachers would develop new perspectives and tools to make lessons in Natural Science more interesting. I also wanted to investigate whether an intercultural perspective could be a possible tool to increase Students? interest and motivation.As a theoretical framework, I have assumed Vygotskij's sociocultural perspective, Habermas's theory of deliberative conversations and an intercultural perspective. Through a qualitative approach, I conducted interviews with Students and teachers. The main results showed that Students felt that natural Science lessons were too theoretical and undemocratic and that they wanted to have more Student interactions, such as discussions and group works.

Studiens syfte var att undersöka hur röntgensjuksköterskor upplevde den psykosociala arbetsmiljön vid den verksamhetsförlagda utbildningen som Studenter. Syftet var också att utreda vilka omständigheter som upplevdes stressande och hur informanterna upplevde sin sociala situation på VFU som Studenter. Vidare var avsikten att få fram förbättringsförslag. Metoden för studien var intervjuer med tio nyligen utexaminerade röntgensjuksköterskor med en kvalitativ innehållsanalys som ansats. Informanterna hade allmänt trivts på VFU, men arbetsmiljön upplevdes som bättre utanför universitetssjukhuset, på mindre VFU-platser.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how teachers approach communication in their mathematics instruction. The communication involves concepts such as teachers' mathematical language, incorrect answers, and various interaction patterns. In line with this, the study also examines how these types of communication may affect Students in the classroom. Furthermore, observations and interviews were conducted with five different teachers in Sweden using an observation scheme and an interview guide. The results reveal that four out of the five teachers use both child-directed and adult-directed language when addressing Students at different levels of mathematical understanding.

SammanfattningVårt examensarbete i pedagogik handlar om kränkningar mellan lärare och elever på Colin Leclairgymnasiet i Södertälje. Syftet med studien var att finna när och hur kränkningar mellan lärare och elever förekommer, och i vilken utsträckning kränkningar förekommer.Metoden vi har valt att använda i studien är en fallstudie. Studien är gjord med hjälp av en enkätundersökning som både lärare och elever på skolan har besvarat. Tjugo lärare och åttioåtta elever har besvarat vår enkätundersökning. Frågorna handlade bland annat om:? Har du känt dig kränkt av någon lärare/elev någon gång?? Beskriv händelsen i ord.? Har du själv någon gång omedvetet och/eller medvetet kränkt någon lärare/elev?? Hur kan man förebygga kränkningar?Resultatet i vår undersökning visar att elever svarar ärligare än sina lärare då de ska reflektera över sig själva.

The aim of the present study was to examine smoking behaviour and motivation for smoking cessation in patients at a dental clinic. Another aim was to examine if the patients had been asked by the dental staff regarding their smoking habits.Twenty-two patients from a Student clinic and twenty-one patients from a Swedish Public Dental Service Clinic in southern of Sweden participated in the study. Participants consisted of eighteen women and twenty-five men. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire that was directed at smokers. The questionnaire was answered in connection with the visit to the dental hygienist.The patients smoked between eight and twelve cigarettes per day and had on average smoked between 5 -15 years.

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to examine what the data from recent Library- and Information Science studies tell us about the importance of school libraries in a Student perspective. Our theoretical framework is built upon Elisabeth Tallaksen Rafste?s concept about the values of school libraries to Students. Our aim is to investigate how Students between the ages of 15 and 18 use and experience school library.

The key purpose of this research has been to study and understand how young people with Syriac ethnicity experience their identity, when living in two different cultures. The Syriac minority is something of a special case when it concerns establishing the identity of an individual, since syriac´s do not have an official country.To be able to do this research an interview has been done with four young Students with syriac ethnicity. The four of them is attending their final year at ?gymnasiet? in Sweden which is equivalent to USA?s senior year in high school.The multicultural school is today a fact and many immigrants attending the Swedish schools today feels misplaced when they meet the Swedish culture through fellow Students and society. A clash between cultures occurs and most of the Students, with non-Swedish ethnicity, live some kind of dual life.

The purpose of this study is to illustrate how some teachers in multicultural school environments reflecton and experience the educational work with national tests in the third grade for Students who do not have Swedish as their native language. The research questions I have chosen to work with are:How do teachers experience working with national tests in groups of Students where there are children with Swedish as a second language?How do the teachers reflect on the Students linguistic preconditions relating to the national tests in these groups of Students?What strategies in their teaching on national tests do the teachers use when it comes to Students with Swedish as a second language?In this study I have chosen to use a qualitative interview method. Since the purpose of the study is to understand how teachers reflect on Students with Swedish as a second language the obvious choice was to interview teachers who work in a multicultural school. In my thesis I have chosen to use sociocultural theory, Cummins four quadrant model and context for theoretical approach.

This essay deals with the subject of the use of news medium amongst the Students inKarlstads University. The presentation of the problem is about illustrating the or thosemedium that is the most used amongst the Students, and also which one, ore which onesof the news medium the Students puts largest trust in. This subject was chosen with thepurpose to illuminate patterns and attitudes of and to news medium, to make it easierfor eventual research in the future to connect these patterns and attitudes with theparticipation in political elections. The subject in question is interesting because of thefact that the news medium is one of the largest sources of information for the citizensknowledge?s about the society, and the citizen?s attitude to the news medium mightpossibly have the ability to affect people?s commitment in politics.

Högskoleutbildningar på distans har blivit en allt vanligare studieform. De vanligaste orsakerna till att Studenter väljer distansutbildning som tillvägagångssätt är att många har familj och barn, långt till högskolan eller att de helt enkelt vill arbeta vid sidan om sina studier. Från högskolans sida gäller det då att bygga upp ett pedagogiskt ramverk och att inspirera Studenterna till den teknologi som erbjuds på den nätbaserade utbildningen. Därför kan det vara intressant att titta på vad som motiverar en Student att vilja lära under de pedagogiska villkor som gäller på en distansutbildning. Syftet med denna studie var därför att söka kunskap och förståelse för vad distansStudenter upplever som studiemotivationshöjande faktorer i distans utbildningens genomförande.

The purpose of this study is to explore specific pedagogical activities that benefit the Student's verbal language development and to learn more about how our schools use teaching methods to achieve the ambitions in the governing documents in Sweden. The aim is finding the correlation between theory, research, governing documents and the educational work in our schools. This study contains an empirical survey in intention to see how teachers, pupils and school administrators experience school activities, to see if those activities are formed with the intention for pupils to reach the learning goals according to the governing documents.The aim of this study has been achieved by relating empirical data with theories and previous research on conversation analysis. Goffman's and Norrby's research on the importance of dialogue and previous research on dialogicity studied by Dysthe, Vygotsky and Bakhtin are presented. Those are related to empirical data and show that most teachers realize the importance of integrating dialogues in daily activities and in different learning contexts.
