In the profession of architects there is an element called architectural competitions, where several architects compete in submitting the best solution for a certain task. In this master?s thesis I am studying the competitor?s perspective of an international architectural competition, while at the same time gaining experiences for my future career as a landscape architect. The aim of this thesis is to through an introspection of my own process examine a competitors view of the international architectural competition and how to approach the difficulties concerning international competitions. Through that I hope obtain experience about the international competition as part of the profession of landscape architects and other involved professions. To examine a competitor?s reflection of an international competition, I entered and competed in LE:NOTRE Student Competition, a competition for Students where the task was to develop 25 kilometers of complex urban periphery along a chain of natural and artificial lakes in Bucharest, Romania.

The purpose with this essay is to study how Students in elementary school are placed within the subject called ?svenska som andrasspråk?, or SVA. SVA is a subject specially designed to deal with the complications that Students with a different native language encounter when trying to learn Swedish.  National school documents state that a Student is to be offered SVA if he or she has a different native language than Swedish and if the headmaster decides it?s ?needed?. In this work I focus on the different factors which are involved in the headmasters decision whether a Student should be in a SVA-class or a normal Swedish class.

This paper aims to examine how the beginning of newly examined teacher?s professional life might look like and also highlight the obstacles that might occur during the induction, the time during which the Student becomes the teacher. The paper also discusses what support that is available for newly examined teachers in schools concerning the possibility to have a mentor and a period of introduction.A qualitative method was used for this study and interviews were made with new teachers who shared their experiences from the beginning of their careers. The results from the interviews were also discussed from the points of view of the study?s theories concerning different leadership styles.Two handbooks for new teachers, aiming to support them in their new professional role were compared.

The aim of this study is to investigate the notion of pupil influence in English teaching at level 1 and 2 at High-School level. The study focuses on how the Students and teachers experience the possibility of influence in their English classes. Empirical data has been collected through questionnaires from two classes at year 1 and two classes at year 2 in English. The study also includes interviews from four teachers and four Students. The study is both qualitative and quantitative.

Varje år tar cirka 3700 sjuksköterskeexamen i Sverige. Efter examen påbörjas en transition från Student till arbetande sjuksköterska. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva den nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskans upplevelse av denna transition. Studien baserades på tolv vetenskapliga artiklar som analyserades med en kvalitativ manifest innehållsanalys. Analysen resulterade i fem slutkategorier: att ha förväntningar på vården och sjuksköterskerollen, men bli besviken på verkligheten, att känna sig otillräckligt förberedd och det är överväldigande med allt nytt, att känna stress, rädsla och oro över det ansvar som vilar på axlarna, att känna sig ensam och sakna stöd samt att bli trygg och bekväm i sin sjuksköterskeroll genom att lotsas in i arbetet och bli en del av teamet.

Egen erfarenhet av klinisk praktik inom såväl sjuksköterskeutbildning som intensivvårdsutbildning samt som handledare för Studenter i grund och specialistutbildning inom intensivvård visar på att mötet och samspelet mellan hand- ledare och Student är betydelsefullt för det fortsatta yrkeslivet. Hur kan den kliniska utbildningen förbättras? Jag anser att det är av största vikt att ta reda på hur Studenterna upplever sin situation för att hjälpa handledarna under den kliniska utbildningen att ge det stöd Studenterna har behov av. Om Studenthandledningen förbättras blir intensivvårdsjuksköterskorna tryggare i sin yrkesroll, detta kommer patienterna tillgodo genom förbättrad omvårdnad. I bakgrunden finns en miljöbeskrivning av intensivvården, en beskrivning av Student- handledning och tidigare forskning inom området.Syftet är att belysa vad nyfärdiga intensivvårdsjuksköterskor upplever att de behöver stöd med för att utvecklas till intensivvårdsjuksköterskor under Studenthandledning i den kliniska utbildningen.Studien har genomförts i form av intervjuer och analyserats utifrån en fenomenologisk ansats på livsvärldsteoretiskgrund.

När sjuksköterskeStudenten är färdigutbildad skall denne ut i arbetslivet och ensam hantera de uppgifter och situationer som uppstår. För att klara av detta krävs att studietiden varit givande och gett möjligheter att utveckla förmågan att bilda en god relation med patienterna. Syftet var att beskriva sjuksköterskeStudenters upplevelser av relationen med patienter som de vårdat under den verksamhetsförlagda utbildningen. Metoden som användes var en litteraturstudie, denna byggde på tio kvalitetsgranskade artiklar som valdes ut efter sökning i databaserna CINAHL och Medline. Artiklarna granskades i sin helhet för att identifiera delar i materialet som gav svar på syftet.

The aim of my study is to investigate how last year Students in upper secondary schoolunderstand certain mathematical concepts, in particular the unit circle and its trigonometry.I have used intentional analysis to interpret Student?s actions when they solve certain tasks onthe basis of a cognitive, situated and cultural context.Interviews with four university teachers in mathematics about the unit circle, trigonometry,and mathematical understanding, serve both as background for the study and as basis for adiscussion, where I relate Students understanding to what the teachers want new Students toknow about these concepts when they begin university studies in mathematics.The Students were arranged in three groups with three Students in each group. Each group waspresented with two tasks, one in which they were asked to calculate the cosine values for onepointed, one blunt and one straight angle, each located in a separate triangle. They were alsoasked to decide whether the points (0,71; 0,71) and d (1 2 , 3 2 ) are located on the unit circleor not.My conclusion is that Students mainly have an operational conception of the unit circle andtrigonometry. The lack of structural conceptions result in difficulties in seeing connectionsbetween the concepts in unfamiliar situations.

The development of the web has become an attractive area, with continuously and rapid development in the area it has led to a big change in the way of learning. Learning is a concept with many definitions, but a definition that is many at hand is that learning means that individuals seeking new knowledge and experiences that shape their goals, behavior and environment.With the development of the web a new way of learning emerged, E-learning. E-learning integrates information technology with the traditional learning to offers a flexible way of learning for Students where they won't be dependent on time, place or others issues that would prevent their learning. E-learning takes shape of an application, LMS (Learning Management System). Today LMS are widely used in many universities, but with new technique comes new problems. The constant developments of the LMS have made the decision to use LMS difficult.

The purpose of this study has been to examine the archival management at the 14 Student Nations in Uppsala. This may be relevant to study to extend the research in the field that Berndt Frediksson calls ?empirical archival science?. Another reason is that the Student Nations hold a unique position as organisations and their archivists holds a unique position from a professional point of view as they mostly consist of Students without professional archivist training. I have mainly focused on why the archival management at the Nations looked as they did.

In a school for children from 6-9 years in a small town in the southeast of Sweden, is areading activity program in progress since 8 years. The original purpose of this program wasto enhance the Student?s reading interest. All of the Students read at least one book a week andthen they review the book in front of the class.The purpose of the present study was to examine vocabulary, word retrieving, narrative skillsand grammatical abilities in children in this school. The objectives were to investigate if thechosen language abilities in these children were different compared to normative data andearlier studies in children at comparable ages.

Employable humanists. A qualitative study on humanist Students' views on employability.The crisis of the humanities is a controversial debate in the media and within academic settings. Because of lack of request for humanists in the labor market, the question of humanistic skills and employability is becoming increasingly important. The concept of employability importance not only echoes within the economic discussions, but also on everyday agenda in the academic world and takes a large part in the communication between the university and the Students. It is therefore important to get answers to the question whether there is conformity in the interpretation of this concept between the university and the Students.The aim of this desk study is to examine how the concept of employability has its significance in the academic communication and how the responsibility for employability is portrayed.
