This paper examines the consequences of membership and participation in immigrant associations on individual immigrants? political integration and indirect political participation with reference to Swedish society. The theoretical underpinnings consist of a social structural outlook on social capital, combined with the Civic Voluntarism Model, both of which focus on the potential role of social networks for moving people into political action. After a presentation of parallel qualitative data over the experiences of individual members in a Finnish and Bosnian-Hercegovinian organisation, it is suggested that immigrant associations support the political integration of their members into the host society. Firstly, the case studies indicate that members of immigrant associations gain the opportunity to augment their civic skills, which is a significant prerequisite for political participation.

The purpose of this study was to increase the knowledge and understanding of what impact support-groups, such as represented by Qvinnoqulan, can have on women with drug-addiction. The questions at issue for the essay was: How does a selection of women who participate in Qvinnoqulan describe their thoughts, experiences and reflections of the group? What sense has Qvinnoqulan made for the women on a personal level and for contributing to live a life without drugs? To answer the questions a qualitative method was used and five interviews were made with women who participated in the activities of Qvinnoqulan. To analyze the data a social constructionist perspective and an empowerment perspective was used. The result of the study showed that the women were in the process of rebuilding a new life without drugs and reconstructing a new identity.

Kronisk sjukdom berör många människor och livsstilsförändringar i samband med sjukdomsbilder är viktiga ur både individ- och samhällsperspektiv. Litteraturstudie användes som metod för genomförandet av studien. Syftet med studien var att undersöka vilka metoder för patientutbildning som fanns beskrivna för hur sjuksköterskor skulle kunna öka motivationen till livsstilsförändringar hos patienter med kronisk sjukdom samt hur dessa metoder upplevdes av patienter och sjuksköterskor. Sökning efter relevanta artiklar gjordes i databaserna PubMed och Cinahl. Begränsning gjordes till vuxna patienter med de kroniska sjukdomarna: KOL, ischemisk hjärtsjukdom och diabetes typ 2.

Since 1999 Sweden have a law that criminalises the person who buys sexual services instead of criminalising the one who is selling, which in most cases is a woman. Seven years has passed since this law took place and in this study we aim to investigate what kind of help the society offer women in Malmö, Sweden, who wishes to step out of prostitution. Our aim with this study is also to look at the attitudes among citizens towards the new law and prostitution. The research is qualitative and all the six persons we interviewed has knowledge about the problems the women are facing when they want to step out of prostitution. To explane and analyse the answers we are using the theory of empowerment, labelling theory, the theory of gender socialisation and Jürgen Habermas theory of the lifeworld.The most significant outcome of this study shows a positive result in regard of the laws effectiveness in diminishing street-prostitution to half of what i t was before the law was put into practice.

I linje med tidigare forskning bör adoptivföräldrar bli mer öppna för att adoptera ett barn med funktionsnedsättning eftersom det är färre och färre friska barn som blir aktuella för adoption (Glidden, 2000, s.397; SOU 2003:49, s.144-145). Studiens syfte var att öka kunskapen om hur nöjda adoptivföräldrar är med samhällets stöd före, under och efter genomförd adoption av ett barn med funktionsnedsättning. Studiens frågeställning var om adoptivföräldrar till barn med funktionsnedsättning anser att de har fått tillräckligt med stöd från samhället före, under och efter genomförd adoption. För att besvara frågeställningen användes en kvantitativ metod, vilket bestod av en enkätundersökning som var riktad till 31 adoptivföräldrar. Efter inkomna svar gjordes analys av empirin och en resultatredovisning där vi använde teorierna om anknytning och empowerment.

AbstractFokus för denna uppsats är våld i lesbiska parrelationer och hur man teoretiskt kan konceptualisera detta våld. Mitt övergripande syfte har varit att öka förståelsen för denna form av våld och därmed bidra till ett relativt outvecklat forskningsfält. Ett ytterligare syfte har varit att undersöka om den könsmaktsanalys som haft stor betydelse för tolkningen och förståelsen av mäns våld mot kvinnor i heterosexuella relationer även kan förklara våldet i en lesbisk parrelation. Fokus för min analys har dels varit om och i så fall på vilket sätt kön är en faktor som kan förklara det lesbiska relationsvåldet, dels om en förståelse av våldet inom en könsbaserad teori kan innebära en viss problematik. Jag har även undersökt andra faktorer som heterosexism och homofobi och dess betydelse för våldets uppkomst och former samt mer individrelaterade förklaringsmodeller.

Medarbetarskap har fått mer betydelse i det svenska arbetslivet under de senaste decennierna. Många organisationer strävar efter att förbättra samarbetet inom och över avdelningsgränserna samt chefens och medarbetarens relation. Arbetstagaren har till stor del övergått till att ta en mer aktiv roll i arbetet. Enkätundersökningen (N = 139) genomfördes i en statlig myndighet där medarbetarskap undersöktes utifrån F. Hällstén och S.

Psykisk ohälsa har successivt ökat och blivit ett av de största folkhälsoproblemen i samhället. Skolhälsovården är en del av samhällets folkhälsoarbete, där skolsköterskan har en viktig roll med sitt hälsofrämjande arbete kring skolungdomars fysiska och psykiska hälsa. En pilotstudie genomfördes för ta reda på hur skolsköterskor arbetar hälsofrämjande med skolungdomars psykiska hälsa. Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur skolsköterskor beskriver och upplever sitt hälsofrämjande arbete med psykisk hälsa hos skolungdomar. Pilotstudien genomfördes med en kvalitativ ansats.

The aim of this study is to increase knowledge and understanding regarding which institutional demands can be identified by social welfare secretary?s in their work with juvenile offenders. The study uses organizational theory to try and find different institutional strategies that social workers use to handle such demands. The study takes a qualitative approach and consists of six semi-structural interviews with social welfare secretary?s who work with juvenile offenders.The results of the study show how institutional influence comes from various organizations and institutions such as media, legislation as well as the police and justice system.

The concept of large paintings includes panoramas, cycloramas and other paintings thatin size exceeds the normal magnitude of wall hung paintings. When these large paintingsare mounted in the ceiling, they are referred to as plafonds. When they are performedon canvas, certain kinds of structural distortions and stress occurs. In addition, becauseof their size and mounting high up in the ceiling, plafond paintings are often difficult tohandle, which leads to less or no maintenance. A plafond may therefore be left withoutattendance for many decades.This thesis has its focus on what happens with plafond paintings on canvas when they areexposed to gravitational forces, and the problems involved in restoring large paintingsmounted in the ceiling.

People recieving social assistance is today very common in Swedish society. Of those receiving social assistance single mothers is one ofthe largest groups. The purpose of this study is to examine how single mothers with social assistance experience themselves to be treated by social services, how this treatment affects their confidence in the social services and how they experience it is to live with social assistance. To answer the question, we use qualitative interviews with three clients. Previous research has shown that single mothers receiving social assistance experience vulnerability, and how they perceive it is affected by how they are treated by their social secretaries.

The aim and purpose of this paper is to identify and investigate the effects of affirmative action as a tool to improve the equality of the sexes in a male dominated organisation such as the Swedish armed forces. The study takes a qualitative approach, using feminist theory as a point of departure. Primarily socially based differences between men and women are identified and the resistance towards change is taken into account.To understand the impact of affirmative action I have observed the political debate on the subject and contrasted it to the ongoing debate from within the armed forces. Extensive interviews have been held with both men and women from varying ranks and ages to understand what the overall opinion of the method is.My results show that there is a widespread animosity towards affirmative action as a method of improving equality. Both in the political debate and within the organisation in question.

Studier visar att hälso- och sjukvårdens personal har olikauppfattningar om innebörden av hälsopromotion. Hälsopromotioninkluderar ett helhetstänkande som utgår från en salutogeninriktning, där individen ses som en helhet. Människan ses utifrånflera hälsodimensioner där fysiska och biologiska aspekter ingår.Sjuksköterskan ska tillgodose patientens psykiska, fysiska, andliga,sociala och kulturella anspråk och vid behov identifiera hälsoriskeroch motivera till förändrade levnadsvanor. Syftet medlitteraturstudien var att belysa sjuksköterskors uppfattningar omhälsopromotion i omvårdnad. En systematisk granskning av 13vetenskapliga artiklar genomfördes.

The thesis ?Vi fixar och trixar oss fram till att hjälpa människor? focuses on social work in the field of prostitution and human trafficking in Sweden. Through semi-structured interviews with social workers in the municipalities of Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö working with persons selling and buying sex, and through discourse analysis, the author analyses the perceptions among these social workers of the relation between human rights, prostitution and human trafficking, and the social work which they conduct.The thesis concludes that although the social workers perceive prostitution and human trafficking and social work in this field as human rights related, they are not explicitly using a human rights based approach in their work.The thesis concludes that the social workers identify several aspects that infringe on the rights of their clients in relation to the human rights principles of Universality, Non-discrimination, Accountability and Rule of law and the principle of Participation and Inclusion. They portray the human rights situation of street based sellers, especially those not being Swedish citizens and those affected by human trafficking, as severe.The thesis concludes that the social workers find several obstacles (legal as well as structural) that diminish their ability to strengthen their clients? human rights situation.
