In urban planning and design today interventions tend to take place in already existing areas and inevitably effect also surrounding areas. The many parties involved in any change leads to a demand for a shared language around these areas. This thesis aim to, through understanding and communicating a site, Stora Södergatan in Lund Sweden, inspire to a novel way of looking at an urban site preceding design- or planning interventions. Based on a theoretical framework where site is considered as a relational construct, material as well as immaterial, a framework for site thinking is constructed. Further, with theory of representation, the communication of the site is emphasized and accounted for as part of the framework.

Street Sound Labs är ett projekt skapat av två DJs till bröder som ville skapa de ultimatahörlurarna, de som du ?alltid har med dig?. Street Sound Labs är projektet och VainSound ärvarumärket. De lanserade deras första hörlur 2012, Model One och vill de skapa en ny hörlurför deras kommande serie. Examensarbetet går ut på att ta fram ett hörlurskoncept för män,kvinnor som är intresserade av design och som vill visa sin identitet med en viss typ avprodukter och varumärken.

 Our study aims at investigating the unit manager?s, within LSS, perceiveddiscretion, when people with Down´s syndrome develop Alzheimer?s disease. We wanted to know what they perceive as limiting factors or facilitators in order to meet changing and/or emerging needs, as well as how they interpret their discretion in relation to this. We have conducted semi-structured qualitative interviews with five unit mangers within LSS.When analyzing the interview material, we have used a theoretical approach from a street-level bureaucracy and from the unit managers? perceiveddiscretion point of view.Our study?s result demonstrate that the unit managers are experiencing a wide discretion and do not feel a need to widen their identifieddiscretion..

With this study, our purpose has been to achieve profounded knowledge and understanding regarding the use of discretion among social workers specialized in social allowance issues. The Social Services Act, structured as a framework law in the Swedish context, provides the social worker with a certain degree of discretion, in order to enable accommodated decisions depending on client case specifics. This study problematizes these aspects of legal security, and our intention has been to examine which factors impact the assessments social workers carry out in statutory decisions of social allowance applications. To attain this, we narrowed down our intention into a number of distinct and delimitated research questions: (1) Which elements of the client case impact the social worker?s assessment? (2) Which external aspects influence the social worker?s assessments and decisions? (3) How do social workers decide the client?s credibility? In order to establish answers to our research questions, we have utilized a qualitative approach of research by exerting qualitative interviews in addition to a vignette study.

This thesis investigates how the level of implementation of New Public Management affects an organization?s efficiency. According to theory, a high level of implementation leads to a more efficient organization. This thesis is based on two case studies conducted on two units within Stockholms Stad. One of the units shows a high level of implementation of NPM and a high level of efficiency.

Our essay is about the grammar structure that the participants in A- and B- level of a school in the middle of Sweden, in the subject, Swedish as a second language, process. We have collected written productions from an A-level group and a B-level group and made a comparison between them morphologically and syntactically according to the processability theory by Pienemann.Processability theory was applied to Swedish by Pienemann & Håkansson (1999), with five steps in syntax and four steps in morphology. It turned out that the B-level group had much higher processing level of grammar than the A level group and one of the reasons for this can be that grammar is explicitly taught during the first year of studying Swedish as a second language in the school we have chosen to study..

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka och jämföra Djävulens funktion i dagens mest lättillgängliga och populära mediagenrer. I studien redogörs hur bilden av Djävulen uppstått med nedslag i Gamla testamentet fram till upplysningen. I den gestaltande landskapsarkitektens yrkesliv är arkitekturtävlingar praxis, eftersom det anses vara ett effektivt sätt att få fram alternativa och högkvalitativa förslag i ett projekt. Som ett komplement till den ordinarie utbildningen på landskapsarkitekturprogrammet är deltagande i arkitekturtävlingar ett sätt att förbereda sig för det kommande arbetslivet. Genom tävlingen Re-design the cityscape from the forest to the seafront: Tritis Septemvriou Street, Thessaloniki, Greece, finns en möjlighet att kombinera kandidatuppsatsen och deltagande i en arkitekturtävling. Tävlingen berör hanteringen av stadsmiljöer med undermåliga allmänna platser, kopplat till modernismens genomslag. Syftet med kandidatarbetet är att övergripande gestalta Tritis Septemvriou Street i Thessaloniki med utgångspunkt i tävlingsprogrammet.

Socialtjänstlagen (2001:453) är en ramlag i vilken socialsekreterare med ett särskilt handlingsutrymme fattar beslut. I uppsatsen undersöks, genom vinjettmetoden, hur nio socialsekreterare i tre kommuner fattar beslut som rör barn. Socialsekreterarna arbetar med försörjningsstöd. Syftet med uppsatsen är att belysa beslutsmotiveringar. I beslutsmotiveringarna undersöks särskilt hur barnperspektivet beaktas. I uppsatsen har Lipskys teori genom "Street Level Bureaucracy ? The purpose with this review is to investigate evidence-based practice (EBP), and which arguments are used to justify EBP. The year of 2006 Bergmark and Lundström published an article regarding the problems concerning EBP. They are discussing that several different definitions of EBP are existing, which they mean can lead to difficulties using the EBP-methods in real life. In this study six articles, from the years 2007-2011, have been analyzed using Mertons structure-functional theory and Lipskys theory of street-level bureaucracy. Different definitions of EBP are discussed in the articles and there seem to be a need to clarify the concept.

The sea-level is rising due to climate change. This report inquires into the possibleconsequences of sea-level rise in Värmdö and its archipelago with particular focus on roadsand buildings. Four scenarios with a sea-level rise of 0.5, 1.5, 2.5 meter and a worst casescenario of 3.9 meter are analyzed using a geographic information system (GIS) calledarcMap. The report also examines how Värmdö is taking into account future sea-level rise intheir planning today. The report´s findings show that uplift and sea-level rise cancel eachother out in the scenario with a sea-level rise of 0.5 meter, but that a number of more or lessimportant roads and buildings will be affected by a rise of 1.5 meters.

En studie riktad mot fem lärares användande och definition av formativ bedömning i matematikundervisningen i årskurs 1-3. Utifrån genomförda observationer och intervjuer redovisas insamlad data med hjälp av konkreta exempel från det verkliga matematikklassrummet. Studiens resultat tyder på att samtliga deltagande lärare använder någon form av formativ bedömning i sin matematikundervisning. Majoriteten av lärarna använder det dock inte kontinuerligt i sin matematikundervisning trots att tidigare forskning belyser gynnsamheten av ett formativt bedömningssätt. En anledning till detta är att lärarna ser svårigheter i användandet av formativ bedömning i ämnet matematik för årskurserna 1-3..

Vi står idag inför stora utmaningar eftersom vår miljöpåverkan resulterat i en rad miljöproblem. För att få bukt med dessa måste vi hitta alternativa sätt att göra saker på. Vi måste konsumera mindre globalt och mer lokalt. Traditionell Ekologisk Kunskap(TEK), som är ett begrepp för praktisk, erfarenhetsbaserad kunskap om djur, växter och natur, kan kanske bidra till lösningar på problemen. Innan vårt jordbruk blev beroende av fossila bränslen arbetade långt fler än idag inom jordbruket och det fanns en stor kunskap om hur naturen fungerade och hur man skulle bruka den på bästa sätt.

Gender politics in Sweden is considered unique because gender policies (jämställdhet) are integrated into national politics and politicised both in the public and the private sphere. The Swedish case is therefore considered a role model by many feminist scholars.This view has been criticised by both post modern feminists and public administration scholars. Critics imply that the increased immigration and more heterogeneous population have led to a new challenge for state institutions. The Swedish model, with its universal welfare solutions, lacks the ability to recognise differences within groups. Universal solutions that treat everyone the same is no longer the most just way to treat people.The growing use of goal orientation in Swedish public administration has increased the civil servants discretion in the implementation process, and thereby the space for differentiated treatment.

This study examines implementation from national law in to local practice in the district of Kalmar to assure newly arrived immigrants orientation in civics. The study takes its starting point in Lipskys theory about street-level bureaucracy.  Questions that are discussed are about how  the education is understood by refugee?s coordinators, civic communicators and the new immigrates, how the organization has been and what role the demography and economic structures has played for the organization. It is a case study where interviews and enquete has been used.
