In secondary school for individuals with learning disabilities there has been a focus on care-taking rather than on comprehension in general, and on reading comprehension in particular.The purpose of this study was to investigate whether Reciprocal Teaching would increase reading comprehension and motivation among upper secondary school for individuals with learning disabilities. The study presents how three 17-year-old pupils and their teacher, discussed expository fact texts during twelve lessons using the reciprocal method combined with power point-presentations to get the students to read more actively with interferences and reflections. The ambition was to make the structured text talks as interesting as possible with texts easy to read, technical aids, structure to make the students feel security when reading and to get committed pupils with an increased interest in reading.The results show an increase in motivation in reading, and the students were more prone to take an active part in discussions..

Studien undersöker fem manliga gymnasieelevers upplevelse av stress och coping genom intervjuer. Respondenterna upplever att flera delar av skolan är stressande men mest så på examinationer. Respondenterna avänder olika former av coping och de som klarar skolan bäst använder en intern locus of control och problemfokuserad coping. Studenterna som misslyckas i skolan trivs inte där och använder extern locus of control och undvikande coping med betoning på socialt stöd..

Bakgrund: Stress är något vi lever med varje dag, hela tiden. Denna stress hjälper oss att prestera i de situationer vi ställs inför. Stress kan i längden även ha en negativ inverkan i form av utbrändhet och sänkt livskvalitet. För att minska den negativa stressen är det viktigt med en god kommunikation på arbetsplatsen och ett gott förhållande till konflikter. Felhanterad stress kan också ha en negativ inverkan på det kvalitetsarbete som sker på restaurangen, vilket påverkar den slutgiltiga upplevelsen för gästen.Syfte: Detta arbete är en fallstudie med syftet att undersöka hur kommunikation och kvalitetsarbete på en västsvensk restaurang kan förändras mellan lugna och stressiga arbetssituationer.Metod: De metoder som har använts i denna studie är av kvalitativ typ.

Syftet med följande studie är att undersöka huruvida universitetsstudenter finner fenomenet konkurrens stressande och isåfall hur detta manifesteras i olika konkurrenspräglade situationer. För att ta reda på detta intervjuades 9 universitets-studenter någonstans i Sverige där de fick besvara 13 frågor om hur de upplevde konkurrens i sin essens, i utbildningen samt i arbetslivet. Det visade sig att studenterna ansåg sig kunna uppleva en viss form och nivå av stress i samtliga konkurrenskategorier, men stressen var som mest framträdande då det gäller att behöva tävla med sina medmänniskor, framförallt i arbetssökarprocessen. Det kan i och med följande studie bekräftas att konkurrens har en betydande, och oftast negativ, inverkan på studenters mentala hälsa då man uppgav att man i konkurrenspräglade situationer kunde uppleva nervositet, oro, frustration och/ eller självförakt..

The aim of the study was to explore the methods used in horticultural therapy gardens in rehabilitating people suffering from fatigue syndrome. Nine horticultural therapy gardens were contacted of wich three chose to participate. Using case study as method e-mail interviews was carried out with the participants about their establishment and what kind of theories they based their methods upon. The material collected from the interviews was complemented with additional data from the establishments web pages and information pamphlets. Collected data was processed trough content analysis and then formed as background for the development of a program theory for horticultural therapy.

The economic analysis of building contracts is an unexplored field within Law and Economics. This paper makes an attempt to cast some light over the subject and encourage to more research within the field. The main purpose has been to describe why the actual price in a public construction project often turns out to be higher than the contract price and offer a way of handle that risk. Background: The amount of elderly patients who?s suffering from dementhia increases every year. Many of these patients develop and decrease in their cognitive ability. The development can lead to people's communication skills deteriorate. It can be a problem for the nurse to communicate with these patients.

The present study deals with task-oriented conversations between a person with hearing loss and a relative or friend. The purpose was to investigate how the participants in the task-oriented context co-construct understanding, and to focus on different kind of repair strategies that the participants may use to make the hearing loss relevant in the conversation. The method used was Conversation Analysis (CA). The material consisted of eight videotaped task-oriented conversations between a person with hearing loss and their significant other. Altogether eight persons participated in the study ? four of them had a hearing loss and the other four had normal hearing.

Syftet var att med en enkätstudie undersöka om det fanns någon upplevd skillnad mellan två produktionsflöden inom stålindustrin gällande arbetsrelaterad stress och tillfredsställelse. Val av flöde baserades på sjukfrånvarostatistiken då flöde 1 hade en högre korttidssjukfrånvaro än i flöde 2. Studien syftade även till att undersöka om det fanns någon mätbar skillnad mellan yngre och äldre arbetstagares arbetsrelaterade stress och tillfredsställelse.Resultaten visade en signifikans för delmåttet rolltydlighet där de äldre deltagarna skattade rolltydligheten högre än de yngre deltagarna. Resultaten visade också signifikans för arbetstillfredsställelse för delmåtten belysning, ljud, smuts och temperatur där deltagarna i flöde 2 var mer nöjda än i flöde 1. De yngre jämfört med de äldre visade sig uppleva mer psykosocialt stöd och deltagarna i flöde 1 upplevde sig ha en högre grad av autonomi än deltagarna i flöde 2, äldre deltagare upplevde sig även ha en bättre autonomi än de yngre deltagarna.

This Master?s thesis is a comparative study of information retrieval results between three distinct search strategies in simulated automatic query expansion in a bibliographic database. Our purpose is to investigate which of the search strategies score the most effective precision and to what extent the same relevant documents are retrieved (overlapped). A thesaurus attached to the database is used to select appropriate descriptors for the baseline query formulations which subsequently are expanded with hierarchical relations. The search strategies are s1: A baseline query with two or three descriptors, s2: The baseline descriptors combined with at least one Narrower Term, s3: The baseline descriptors combined with Narrower Term and at least one Broader Term.

As a result of global competition, companies within the automotive industry are required to improve their production systems to achieve sustainable and competitive production. To attain operational excellence, companies have adopted concepts like lean and World Class Manufacturing (WCM).In order to deliver, companies need to increase the availability and reliability of production equipment. This demands focus on both operational and strategic maintenance, and efficient equipment acquisition and management. The main objective of this thesis is to identify processes and success factors that are necessary for improved maintenance performance. By conducting a case study and by performing a literature review, the following has been studied: 1) how companies within the automotive industry work with maintenance and maintenance strategies, 2) implementation of maintenance strategies, and 3) new acquisition and spare parts management for maintenance. The results show that basic maintenance concepts and related terms are well defined in the literature.

AbstractAt the UN Conference on Environment and Development in 1992 the nations stated that traditional environmental policies were not sufficient to handle the multidimensional challenges posed by sustainable development. Governments needed to broaden their political decision making procedures in order to coordinate and integrate environmental, social and economic policies. Therefore a new tool was introduced in Agenda 21, National Strategies for Sustainable Development (NSDS). The aim of an NSDS would be to bring together actors from all parts of society to jointly reach a consensus on how to work towards the vision of a sustainable society. An NSDS would be seen as a strategic tool to help focus national policies for SD.

Syftet med föreliggande studie har varit att se om stress och provångest påverkar resultatet på ett minnestest. Följande frågeställningar har behandlats: presterar elever med en hög grad av provångest sämre på ett minnestest än elever med låg grad av provångest? Presterar elever med en hög grad av provångest sämre i stressig miljö än lugn miljö? Har kvinnor en högre grad av provängest än män? Har kön en betydelse för prestationen i en stressig respektive lugn miljö? Urvalet bestod av 34 gymnasieelever varav 21 fullföljde undersökningen. Deltagarna fick dels fylla i en enkät för att fastställa deras grad av provångest och sen göra ett minnestest i stressad respektive lugn miljö. Undersökningen visade inte på några signifikanta samband.
