This thesis studies the relationship between risk and the first day returns of Initial Public Offerings (IPO) by assessing the risk of each issuing company with a risk model that combine financial key ratios of importance. The study is based on 92 IPO?s that were made on the Stockholm OMX stock exchange during the period of 1997-2009. The point of departure was to investigate if the uncertainty created by the asymmetric information between investors and the issuing firm could be captured by predicting the possibility of failure in the future. This has been studied by applying Skogsvik?s probability of failure model on the 92 issuing firms.

The Apollo butterfly, Parnassius apollo, is categorized as Near Threatened (NT) in IUCN Red List. Today in Sweden it is found only in strongly fragmentized populations. In the county of Stockholm, P. apollo exists exclusively in some islands of the archipelago and with one mainland population in Stora Vika. This study has the purpose of expanding the knowledge of the local conditions for the butterfly in the south parts of the county of Stockholm and thereby contributes to a sustainable land management that can preserve the Apollo butterfly.A comparative study was done between areas where the butterfly today have: a stable population (Stora Vika, Utö and Ålö), has disappeared (Muskö and Yxlö) or is strongly declining (north part of Ornö).

 Denna uppsats handlar om huruvida det har skett en förändring i svenskans adjektivkomparation under de senaste årtiondena. Undersökningen består av två moment. I moment ett har jag jämfört korpusarna Talbanken, som innehåller presstexter från 1960-talet och 1970-talet, och SUC (Stockholm-Umeå Corpus), som innehåller presstexter från 1990-talet, med fokus på förekomsten av suffixkomparation och perifrastisk komparation. Moment två har bestått av att undersöka hur 50 utvalda adjektiv kompareras i Språkbankens konkordanser Press 65 och Press 98. Resultaten av undersökningen visar att den perifrastiska komparationen har ökat i användning, men även att suffixkomparation har ökat bland vissa adjektiv.

Enrons kollaps år 2001 aktualiserade frågan om revisorns oberoende. Ett ämne som till stor del utgör själva grundstommen i revisorsyrket. Enronskandalen förde med sig en ordentlig restriktion av amerikanska, men även svenska, regelverk. Dessa reglementen åsyftar att säkerställa revisorns oberoende gentemot sina klienter, för att minska risken för nya redovisningsskandaler. I Sverige infördes analysmodellen i revisorslagen den första januari år 2002.

This examination paper is the account for the author?s work while arranging and registrating the business archives and business records of the Herman Bergman?s Foundry in Stockholm, Sweden. It is part of the one year Masters program in Archival Science at the University of Uppsala. The records are from the beginning of the 1900s to the 1970s. Most of the business archives are from he 1940s to the 1950s.

Denna C-uppsats undersöker den svenska journalistkårens brist på mångfald. Den forskningsmetod som används är kvalitativ. I arbetet genomförs en fallstudie av en redaktion där samtliga reportrar och även chefredaktören samt Vd:n för Direktpress Stockholm intervjuas. Teorin bygger på forskning om mångfald inom journalistiken och utgår bland annat ifrån teoretiska ramverk utvecklade av samtida medieforskare såsom Gunilla Hultén, Gunnar Nygren och Kent Asp. Den kvalitativa metoden inbegriper semistrukturerade intervjuer enligt Steinar Kvales och Svend Brinkmanns etablerade mall.

Många byggprojekt är redan från start tids- och prispressade, vilket gör dem känsliga för ändringsarbeten. Det krävs att projektet är väl projekterat för att onödiga kostnader inte skall dyka upp, speciellt i ett ROT-jobb där man skall anpassa sig efter befintliga lokaler. Många ändrings-PM och ÄTA-arbeten kan bli kostsamt för både beställaren och entreprenörer. Att konsultera en installationssamordnare i projekteringsstadiet kan därför bli en vinst för projektet, speciellt när många och omfattande installationsarbeten skall utföras.Min praktik på Kungsfiskaren Bygg och Fastighet utfördes på ett bygge i frihamnen i Stockholm. Ett bygge som växte och drog ut på tiden, mycket på grund av många ändrings PM och ÄTOR.Rapporten innehåller en sammanställning över installations PM och ÄTOR som gjorts, och en kalkyl för installationssamordning..

Avregleringen av apoteksmarknaden innebär att nya aktörer kommer att inträda på marknaden och hela marknadsstrukturen kommer att ändras. Konkurrensen blir givetvis hård då alla aktörer vill slåss om marknadsandelarna och det blir vitalt att fokusera på kundens behov. Syftet med denna uppsats är att segmentera  apoteksmarknaden. För att identifiera kundgrupper kommer vi att genomföra en kundundersökning i Stockholm som baseras på sexkonkurrensmedel. Slutsatserna är att det finns tre kundsegment på apoteksmarknaden.

Urbanisation has increased the distance between the urban and the rural. Urban agriculture can be a solution to overcome that distance. The characteristic of urban agriculture is the intensive production in intra urban and peri-urban areas. Until 1950s food production in cities was an important part of the urban economy and the urban food supply. Since the 1950s the urban located production of food has almost ceased in Sweden, partly as a result of cheap food imports.

This report documents the process of designing a laboratory exercise in Fourier analysis at Vetenskapens Hus (House of Science) in Stockholm. The lab is designed for high school students studying science or technical education. It focuses on the physicalunderstanding and mathematical description of sound, in particular music. A model of such a lab is presented in this work; containing a review of the mathematical theory, summary of educational research in the field, descriptions of the design process and of the investigativework that led to the final result. The designed material for the lab includes developed computer programs, visit leader tutorial and description for teachers. .

This work investigates the breeding success of the Black-throated Diver, Gavia arctica, related to the water quality in three lakes located in the Vallentuna area, north of Stockholm, Sweden.For more than 30 years, I have studied the bird life around these three and other nearby lakes, and noticed that the Black-throated Diver breeds in some lakes, but not in others.The results confirm that the deep and clear lakes Tärnan and Stora Harsjön have good water quality regarding pH, alkalinity, aluminium and Secchi disk values. As expected, the Black-throated Diver shows breeding success in those two lakes, but does not breed in the shallow and eutrophic lake Mysslingen. .

The main aim of my research essay is to examine two congregations, one in Sweden and one in Democratic Republic of Congo, how theology and the life in the church shape the cultural context. The analysis uses semi-structured interviews of two pastors responsible for organizing the Easter celebration in their churches. The interviews serve the purpose to reveal how they apply theology in their context, how they interpret the Easter celebration liturgically in relation to the early church and how they perceive the cultural development in the congregations Easter celebration 2010-11. To give complementary insights to the interviews I use computer-aided interviews with members of the congregations. The methodological approach is based on a study of contextual theological theories, Easter traditions in the early church, Easter theologies and then applying these theories in the interviews.

This thesis investigates the effects of active ownership on the return on assets (ROA) of Swedish listed companies during the years 2003 to 2013. Active ownership is operationalized based on the probabilistic voting model that is used to calculate the minimum amount of shares the largest shareholder needs in order to possess control of a contested vote at the shareholder meeting. We study the three largest lists on the Nasdaq OMX Stockholm, having 1454 observations from 207 companies to test our hypothesis. The main result from the study is that there's a significant positive relationship between active ownership and ROA during the investigated period. The active owners' relative strength also proves to have a significant positive relationship to ROA..

In Sweden we have a regulated gambling market which means that there are three gambling companies who are operating under the supervision of the Swedish state. These companies have exclusive rights to the Swedish market, divided between them. AB Svenska Spel is one of them and they control all gambling concerning sporting events and the four casinos in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and Sundsvall. However, since a few years back several Internet-based companies have entered the Swedish market and the competition has become even fiercer in the last years. Due to numerous marketing restrictions the Internet companies have been forced to find new ways to strengthen their brand.

This thesis uses ten years of data to examine the underlying drivers behind changes in the taxi price, specifically we look at the relationship between the taxi price and changes in the underlying costs. We use a two-step error correction framework to investigate how changes in costs affect prices in the long run as well as in the short run. We also study if the price adjustment process is asymmetric. Furthermore, we examine if price discrimination exists on the taxi market in Stockholm. We find that in the long run the pass-through effect is almost complete, whereas in the short run prices are considerably less sensitive to cost changes.
