The discussion about high culture and popular culture in our society has been going on for decades. In few places is it as loud as within culture journalism and the critics? society, where the question of what is good taste and what is dumb entertainment constantly gets brought to the surface. Film is a particularly vulnerable area, since it is such a universally appealing and rather young medium. In America and England several studies have been performed of the reviewing society and reveiwers? use of high and low art-discourse in their writing.

Background: The increasing number of actors on the market has led to a more intense competition among superstores. With this, marketing has gotten an even more essential meaning. The marketing activities superstores perform are adapted to the context in which the store is located. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to, from different theoretical dimensions, compare superstores? application of marketing strategies in Tokyo with the marketing strategies used by superstores in Stockholm.

Detta är en studie kring hur filmer framställer olika grupper som risker, till exempel muslimer som terrorister. Vi har gjort en kvalitativ studie av tre spelfilmer, nämligen Rambo III, Belägringen och The Kingdom samt en dokumentärfilm; Det svider i hjärtat. I dessa filmer har vi tittat efter hur muslimer framställs. För att strukturera upp studien har vi valt ett tesdrivande tillvägagångssätt utifrån Karl Poppers metod och prövat en rad olika teoretiska begrepp och perspektiv. Dessa är Edward W.

This study aims to determine whether pupils, students and teachers at various music schools feel that there is a difference in status between different music styles/genres, and if this has an impact on the individual level. The survey was conducted with a digital survey that was e-mailed to junior/high schools with music profile in the Stockholm area and to all the teachers and students at the Royal College of music in Stockholm (KMH). Due to low participation by students and teachers from the junior/high schools the students and teachers of KMH became the main object of the study. The results shows that a majority of the main group of this study feels that there is a difference in status between different music styles/genres. The study also shows that half of the participants believe that the difference in status affects them on an individual level.

Uppsatsen utforskar några omständigheter kring vilka de omfattande förändringarna i Stockholms centrala delar vid mitten av 1900-talet dokumenterats, i första hand genom fotografiska bilder. I de "minnesböcker" där dessa bilder står i förgrunden får "Klarakvarteren" i en viss mening stå som symbol för det moderna Stockholm i och med anläggandet av den nya centralstationen på 1870-talet, samt genom att utgöra den självklara platsen för otaliga tidningsredaktioner, hotell och kaféer. Som sinnebilden för det moderna stadslivet i Stockholm är "Klarakvarteren" förbundna med en annan viktig aspekt av moderniteten: den fotografiska bilden. "Klarakvarteren" finns idag, i spåren efter den omfattande omdaningen av stadskärnan, i allt väsentligt enbart kvar som minnesbilder i form av text och fotografier. Genom att undersöka en i sammanhanget central fotografisk bok, med en längre essä av Per Wästberg tillika fotografier av Lennart af Petersens, som i många år arbetat som fotograf för Stockholms stad, hoppas föreliggande uppsats kunna väcka frågor kring hur minnen, fotografier och tillvaron i den moderna staden kan sägas gå samman i dessa "minnesböcker" som publicerats under, liksom efter, dessa storskaliga arkitektoniska förändringar..

AbstractThe author Selma Lagerlöf was born in 1858 at Mårbacka, in Värmland and died in 1940. Fifty years after Selma´s death were her correspondence released and ten thousand of letters were found in the collection. But it was just the correspondence between Selma and Sofie Elkan who interested people because they wanted to know if Selma and Sofie have had a sexual relationship. Later, in time for Christmas 2008 the Swedish Television shows a film about Selma. "Selma Lagerlöf Society" was critical to the movie and thougt that the movie focused too much on Selma`s sexual orientation.

This study highlights the stereotypical depictions of journalists in film using a narrative analysis of four major Hollywood productions, starting with All the President?s Men from 1976 through The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo from 2011. Its purpose is to highlight traits given to journalists in the movies and re-occuring themes in the portrayal of the media and the journalistic occupation. Differences and commonalities between the films are concluded in a discussion of ethics, personalities and the media?s self image.

This essay investigates how teacher sees and uses mainstream movies as a teaching method. The main question approached is: How does teachers use feature films as a teaching method? Which movies are used and how does their working methods surrounding the movies look like? The purpose of the essay is to make the reader reflect over what influence mainstream media has over the historic knowledge of the students and how teachers use that for educational purposes. The business around historical film has grown over the years and is now a million dollar industry. The conclusion is that teachers mostly use feature films to provoke emotional reactions from the students.

The aim of this paper is to examine the American movie trailer particularly its history, marketing and functions, presented as an historical overview from the serials of the early 1910s to the trailers of today. A trailer from each decade of the twentieth- and twenty-first centuries is selected which represent typical trends and shows how trailers historically functioned, including their formal, generic differences.The introduction focuses on the market in which the trailer operates, and raises the issue of the entertainment value of art or marketing, how the film industry works and to role of advertising. The second part of the introduction focuses on the development of film stars, and their importance in trailer campaigns. This brings in the question of the growth of Hollywood and new media forms/technologies. The aim of this study is to examine the possibilities to use gamification to reach thepolitical goals for the transportation system in the Stockholm region. The study has aninterdisciplinary approach and is based around two main building blocks: gamificationand the transportation system in the Stockholm region. The first part examinesgamification. This includes contemporary use, debate, academic definition and aninvestigation of how gamified applications should be developed. One of the mainfindings is a suggestion that gamification should be seen as a process rather that a setof predefined game mechanics that can be applied to any activity.

Denna avhandling tar upp filmmusiken i Fantastic Mr. Fox.Syftet är mer specifikt att ta reda på vad musiken har för funktion i filmen, hur man använder musiken för att hjälpa till att föra fram handlingen och varför använder man sig av både egen komponerad musik och redan befintlig musik.Urvalet av låtar är grundat på hur stor betydelse de har för samspelet mellan musik och bild.Metoden som är använd är ett närstuderande, eller snarare ett närlyssnande, av musiken i filmen med hjälp av teoretisk grund i tidigare forskning och litteratur.Texten behandlar dels de låtar som är specifikt komponerade för filmen och dels de som är tagna utifrån, det vill säga redan befintlig musik, som har använts i filmen.Genom en diskussion utrönas också det olika musikala beståndsdelarnas viktigare element där diskussionen utmynnar i en jämförelse mellan de två musikala huvudgrupperna, det vill säga de sammanställda (de redan befintliga) låtarna och de sammansatta (de speciellt komponerade) låtarna.Avhandlingen slutar med att diskutera olika metoder man kan använda sig av för att studerna musiken i Fantastic Mr. Fox och även att förklara resultaten i analysen mer djupgående..

Denna uppsats undersöker hur samma historiska händelse kan ha olika betydelser i film. Idag är människor mer benägna att se en film om en historisk händelse än att läsa en historiebok, och detta innebär att vi måste lära oss att förstå de konventioner som används för att placera historia på film. Historiefilmen kan sägas besitta en palimpsestisk historiskt medvetenhet där lager av fakta och myt smälter samman, hellre än att skiljas åt. Men för att en historisk händelse ska passa in i filmens tidsram måste den bearbetas och detta resulterar i att vissa människor, händelser och rörelser prioriteras, medan andra utesluts. Därför undersöker denna uppsats vad som lagts till / uteslutits och effekterna på sammanhanget och trovärdighet, hur filmen hävdar sin autenticitet, och hur upphovsmannen påverkar trovärdigheten.

Syftet har lett fram till följande frågeställningar:Vad uppfattar jag av de utvalda naturrummen?Vad väcker de olika naturrummen för rörelser i mig som dansare?Hur framträder dessa upplevelser för mig på ett reflekterande plan? Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate if there was a difference in the tear film?s osmolarity before and after drinking coffee. 'Method: All subjects in this study were asked to fill in a questionnaire to diagnose factors in their subjective symptoms, the questionnaire TERTC-DEQ. The subjects with a total graduated points of over 17 were not allowed to participate in the further measurements. In the study there was a total amount of 38 subjects, were 5 participated twice for both measurements, coffee and water.
