Smallholder farmers in Uganda suffer from declining productivity. With a rapidly increasing population, marginal land is taken into production and the current land management leads to loss in soil fertility and escalation in soil erosion. There are studies indicating that the use of agroforestry increases soil organic carbon (SOC) compared to systems without trees. Soils which are high in carbon have many advantages, for example better water holding capacity, which can reduce stress on crops during drought. The aim of this study was to determine the effect agroforestry has on SOC concentration in small-holder farming systems in Uganda. The intended system to study was farms practicing agroforestry methods or not in intercropped plantain (cooking banana) fields.

In Northen Bungoma, Western province ? Kenya, the Vi-Agroforestry Project (VI-AFP) has introduced a new project that covers 7000 households. To succeed with the project, a water resources protection project, agroforestry methods will be implemented to secure the water quality of the area. In this thesis a foundation is laid for future follow-up studies of land cover and land use of this area. To carry out this study an existing method from a cooperation between VIAFP and Dalarnas University (HDa) has been implemented.

Allt fler flyttar in i städer och 2050 tros över 90 % av Sveriges befolkning vara bosatta i städer. Samtidigt minskar grönområden runt om i städerna. Forskning visar på olika problem som uppstår i städer och dess miljö men också på hur växter och deras naturliga egenskaper kan vara till nytta. Syftet med detta arbete är att visa olika alternativ på hur man kan använda sig av befintliga outnyttjade områden i Stockholm och grönska dem. En litteraturstudie och exkursioner har resulterat i tolv olika gestaltningar av platser tagna ur sex olika grupper som presenteras som resultat.

In Halland, agriculture is the major source of eutrophication of water. In the study, synoptic sampling were performed in the three watercourses Nyrebäcken, Skintan and Vinån all located in the county of Halland. Sampling occurred during the period February to May on three occasions with different flow rates: high, low and base flow. Samples were taken in the mainstream and tributaries with intention to show how big the impact of eutrophication it is in the water and  to assess the impact of the tributariesThe results show that all watercourses are affected by eutrophication. Nyrebäcken has the highest concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus in the mainstream, then Skintan and last Vinån.

This essay reviews the situation for real estate agencies within the Stockholm area. In this essay we assume that costumer loyalty is a requirement for survival on the competitive estate market. Two actors have been compared; A well known national Internet-based agency, Skandia Mäklarna, and a smaller local traditional agent Mäklarfirman Grönberg. These actors have been analyzed up on theories on loyalty, relationship marketing, service marketing, quality and involvement .The conclusion of the essay is that it is possible for small estate agencies to compeed with larger Internet based agencies by building loyal relationships with their customers. This can be achieved if the right strategic decisions are made.

The common asylum and migration policy of the European Union is a struggle between a strong belief in the protection of human rights and the need of strong and secured borders. This paper highlights the dilemma that occurs in the common asylum and migration policy of the European Union. What happens when the union have to choose between liberal standards with high priorities to human rights and a realistic focus on security? The aim is to study the asylum policy presented in the Stockholm Program, and thereafter evaluate what kind of character the union has itself. By an ideal type analysis of the Stockholm program from 2009, the common asylum policy is divided into either liberal or realistic ideas.

Purpose: The aim of this paper is to investigate whether there are differences between big cities and small cities in adventure tourism. The cities that are studied are Stockholm and Visby.Methodology: The study is based on a qualitative method. We have done interviews and observation. We also used books and internet when collecting information.        Conclusions: The study has shown that differences exist between large and small cities. People seek out the opposite, whether you're from a big city or small town.

Ett operahus på Stadsgårdskajen, väster om Fåfängan. Placeringen är vald för att försöka ta tillvara på många av platsens kvalitéer och koppla byggnaden både till staden och till vattnet. Detta görs genom scenernas vinkelräta relation till varandra där den lilla scenen lägger sig i fonden av Folkungagatan medan den stora vänder sig mot vattnet. Symbolen skapas med hjälp av de utkragande salongerna som. The background to this work was to see if there was a connection between large woody debris (LWD) and the presence of brown trout in our Swedish forest streams. Previous researches by Degerman et al. (2004) have shown that there is a strong correlation between the amount of dead wood and the presence of brown trout. The goal was then to find a way to restore, maintain and increase the trout habitats by constructing and adding manmade wooden structures that would mimic natural deadwood and its features in flowing water. The inspiration was partially taken from a water restoration program in the Klamath River of northern California, USA.

Travelling by train has increased during the last decades in Sweden. This has put pressure on the existing infrastructure and has created problems with delays and cancelled departures. The railway is a complex system with mutual dependencies and high vulnerability for disruptions. The situation for the railway system in the Stockholm region is today strained. The capacity is fully used.

The objective of the essay was to identify the nursing care required by a dog suffering from heat stroke and how to educate and advice the owners how to start treating their dog and prevent the condition from occurring in the first place. The essay is based on a literature study. Several databases were searched for scientific research to try find answers to the issues. Keywords concerning the subject were used and mixed in different combinations to sort out the suitable studies. The results of the study indicate that the dog should be cooled by the owner directly after detection. The most crucial issue is to reduce the body temperature as quickly as possible or the morbidity will worsen.

The present study discusses the metabolism of ethanol in the human body from the ingestion of ethanol to the excretion of its break down products water and carbon dioxide. Ethanol is a small molecule, soluble in water as well as in organic solutions. It is quickly distributed to every section in the body, where it exerts a direct toxic effect on the cells. Ethanol cannot directly leave the body efficiently so it needs other metabolic pathways. The molecule is metabolized by oxidation, predominately in the liver.

Den här studien handlar om unga vuxnas identitetsskapande. Syftet med studien är att analysera hur åtta unga vuxna i samtida Stockholm identifierar sig själva och hur de upplever sig bli identifierade av sin omgivning. Utifrån ett material, bestående av åtta intervjuer gjorda med unga vuxna, undersöker jag hur meningssammanhang som ålder, utbildning, etnicitet och plats förstås, används, gestaltas och kommuniceras i de unga vuxnas berättelser och hur dessa meningssammanhang skapar identifikation. Studien utgår från ett teoretiskt ramverk som dels utgörs av intersektionell kulturanalys. Studien visar att meningssammanhang som kläder, umgänge, språk, bloggar, graffitti, studier och boende osv.

Uppsatsen undersöker tre Stockholms tidningars gestaltning av Crusenstolpekravallernas junidel sommaren 1838 i Stockholm. Studien är aktörscentrerad och inriktar sig på tre aktörer folket, ordningsmakten militär/polis och tidningarna själva. Som teoretisk utgångspunkt har Maxwell McCombs dagordningsteori använts i vilken gestaltningprocessen är en del. Metoden som används är en kvalitativ textanalys. Detta tillvägagångssätt kompletteras med komparativ metod.

I takt med att företag växer och etableras på marknaden brukar förr eller senarefrågan om en börsnotering bli aktuell. Primärt torde detta vara ett tillvägagångssättför anskaffning av kapital vilket får till följd att nya investeringar kan genomförasoch tillväxtmöjligheter öppnas. En börsintroduktion är dock en svår ochomfattande process där det emitterande bolaget ställs inför en rad kompliceradeoch svåra val. Ett sådant val är vilken marknadsplats bolaget ska noteras på, enbörs eller en handelsplattform. Vidare behöver en rad samarbetspartners anlitasför att introduktionen ska bli verklighet.
