The purpose of this essay is to examine and compare the news covering of Swedens three biggest cities (the metropolitan areas) and their surrounding areas with the covering of the rest of the country (the provincial areas) in two daily national newspapers, Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter. The aim has been to answer the following questions:- What amount of the news coverage in Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter concern the metropolitan areas compared to the provincial areas, and how do these two newspapers differ in the news covering of these areas?- Is there a difference in the news articles size and content, depending on weather they concern the metropolitan or the provincial areas?- How has the balance between news concerning metropolitan and provincial areas changed over the recent 20 years?The theories used in this study are News values, the media commercialization and Popular Journalism, and The Agenda Setting Theory. The method that has been used is a Quantitative Content Analysis.Despite the essays hypothesis, that the news coverage in the two newspapers would be dominated by material from the metropolitan areas, the result showed that a majority of the examined articles concern the provincial areas. It also showed that Aftonbladet has a bigger percentage of provincial news than Dagens Nyheter.

Does not the urban space belong as much to children as to other people? Yes, of course. Today and in the future most people will live and grow to be adults in cities. Due to progresses constantly being made in veterinary medicine combined with increasing knowledge in pet owners, the dogs of today gets older than before. The population of geriatric dogs is there for constantly growing, which makes them an important group of patients on small animal clinics and hospitals. As dogs age, so do their interior organs. Geriatric dogs are prone to several diseases and in this text the author has decided to focus on three of the most common: Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CDS), cancer and osteoarthritis (AO). All of these illnesses are incurable in dogs, but it is important to remember that they are still treatable.

Romanies have long lived outside the fabric of society and have long been exposed to discrimination in Sweden as well as the rest of Europe. The purpose of this study is to elucidate the experiences of young Finnish romanies in their everyday lives as well as their perceptions of living as a minority group in Stockholm today. Previous scientific researchers have often concentrated their studies on the romanies as a group, so we, the authors have chosen to concentrate our research on the individual?s own experiences. We, the authors have chosen to use a qualitative approach, to give us the opportunity through using open ended interview techniques to comprehend and interpret the individuals own accounts.

Cultivable land is a limited resource and agriculture contributes to some of the most serious environmental problems facing the planet like, global warming, eutrophication and loss of biodiversity. The specialized, industrial agriculture with monoculture and extensive input of external energy, commercial fertilizer, and chemical pesticides are all essentially unsustainable. An adaptation to other methods of production is necessary to preserve the environment for future generations. The aim of this study is to describe the factors that distinguish sustainable from unsustainable agriculture. The results will be used to examine if and how the European Union (EU) works in order to create a more sustainable agricultural industry and to analyze the preconditions for such development.

Fo?r att uppna? detta har de teoretiska begreppen hegemonisk maskulinitet och manlig homosocialitet operationaliserats i en tematisk analys av tre utvalda avsnitt av serien.

SIDA?s relief work in Bosnia aims at making the country ready for a membership in the EU where the main focus lies in the creation of a sustainable state as well as liberalizing the market to create an increased economic cooperation between Bosnia and the rest of Europe. These ambitions are closely related to the neo-liberal theory of state building which aims at creating democratic societies in line with the western democracy model, with a liberal economy constituting its base. Despite generous financial aid, the democratic and economic development in Bosnia is moving very slowly and the ethnical tensions seem to grow despite international involvement in the country. The purpose of this study is to evaluate SIDA?s present relief work in Bosnia out of a peace perspective.

Den här uppsatsen är en undersökning av hur nationell identitet har framställts i tre populära, svenska filmer: Sällskapsresan (1980), Änglagård (1992) och Jalla! Jalla! (2000).De teoretiska utgångspunkter som ligger till grund för uppsatsen är begreppet nationalism och då främst Benedict Andersons tankar om nationen som den föreställda gemenskapen, begreppet nationell film främst utifrån Andrew Higsons definition, samt svensk etnologiforskning och vad som på det området, genom historien har sagts om nationella identiteter och framförallt svenskhet.Med hjälp av etnologiforskningen genomförs näranalyser av ovan nämnda filmer som besvara frågan om hur svenskheten framställs och stereotypiseras i dessa, samt hur dessa bilder av svensk identitet ser ut i förhållande till den bild etnologiforskarna framhåller och har framhållit genom åren.Då de utvalda filmerna är tre mycket populära filmer med höga besökssiffror på biograferna, är ytterligare ett syfte med uppsatsen att diskutera något kring hur filmerna och dess framställning av svenskheten har mottagits av svenska folket, såväl publik som kritiker. Detta görs med hjälp av ett urval filmrecensioner samt kommentarer från filmskaparna själva.I slutdiskussionen argumenteras för att de tre filmerna innehåller liknande framställningar av svenskheten som också förefaller stämma väl överrens med såväl etnologernas teorier som svenskarnas uppfattning om sig själva och sitt land. Men också att filmerna inte innehåller annat än stereotypa och romantiserade bilder av svensk identitet som bidrar till skapandet och bevarandet av föreställda gemenskaper..
