Integrationsprocesser bland 6 invandrade japanska personer i Sverige

This research outlines studies about the relationship between social integration process of Japanese immigrants in Sweden and how social media assists in this process. The purpose of this research includes: To find out the reasons of migration to Sweden for six Japanese immigrants, any difficulties that they faced at the beginning of their immigration process and/or any positive qualities that they found in living in Sweden, whether they have accessed social media since they have moved in, if they do so, how the social media has been used and also, whether the social media has had a role to play in contributing to help their social integration process. In addition, it has been considered whether the participants have plans to return to Japan. In Sweden, there is relatively small Japanese migrant population. This social science research paper is the first in Sweden which explores the immigration process of Japanese migrants into Sweden.

"Det är så tabu" : Att utreda föräldraförmågan hos personer med utvecklingsstörning

The purpose of this essay is to describe and analyse the dilemmas within assessments to establish the parenting ability of mentally handicapped parents, and furthermore to see how these assessments are carried out.To achieve this purpose we have interviewed eight professionals from three different professions who comes into contact with mentally handicapped parents throughout these assessments. These professions we have interviewed people from, are employees from social services, employees from assessment homes and lawyers.We have summarized the results of our interviews into three main themes. The first is focusing on which method/model employees from social services and assessment homes use to help establish the parenting ability of mentally handicapped parents. The second theme describes different dilemmas that can arise in these assessments and the last theme describes the knowledge that people we interviewed have regarding mentally handicapped parents.Professions which carry out assessments of mentally handicapped parents often come across a variety of different dilemmas, one of the clearest is how to enable these parents to understand the necessity behind the assessment and to give them an understanding of what kind of help and support they need in order to give their children a "good enough" childhood..

"Oprah" i den senmoderna offentliga sfären. En textanalys av "The Oprah Winfrey Show" och dess funktion i samhället

The intention of this thesis is to examine "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and its position and functions in the public sphere. Particularly interesting aspects are like the linking of private and public issues, the show's potential as a forum for debate and dissemination of knowledge, and what types of criticism the show has been subjected to. The methods used dealt with the textual aspects of the show. Semiotic analysis and conversation analysis were applied to five episodes and a search of literature was made. The thesis rests on theories concerning television studies and talk shows, in addition to theories on modernity and identity.

Vikten av att prata ut: En jämförelse mellan två grupper av kvinnliga undersköterskors självskattade psykiska och fysiska hälsa vid en arbetsomställning.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka om en möjlighet att prata ut ger upphov till skillnader i självskattad psykisk och fysisk hälsa mellan två grupper kvinnliga undersköterskor vid ett svenskt sjukhus. Den ena gruppen på 25 personer har vid en arbetsomställning fått behålla sin tjänst och den andra gruppen på tio personer har blivit omplacerad på andra avdelningar inom organisationen. Vad som också skiljer grupperna åt är att lämnargruppen har fått en möjlighet att tala ut om vad de känner i samband med omställningen. Följande självskattningsformulär har använts: Forsman & Johnsons test om självkänsla (SES), Pennebaker Inventory of Limbid Languidness (PILL), KASAM och Levels of Emotional Awarenness (LEAS). Inga signifikanta skillnader mellan grupperna framkommer vad det gäller självskattad psykisk och fysisk hälsa.

Hurvamorden och Lasermannen : Två fallstudier inom kriminaljournalistik

Resume: Mitt ämne var kriminaljournalistikens behandling av de två fallen Hurvamorden och Lasermannen, mer specifikt om det ena fallet behandlades på ett mer sensationalistiskt sätt än det andra. Arbetshypotesen var att täckningen av Lasermannen skulle visa sig vara mer sensationalistisk än täckningen av Hurvamorden, eftersom den generella trenden går åt det hållet. Jag valde ut fyra tidningar som jag tyckte representerade ett acceptabelt tvärsnitt av svenska pressmedier, och läste de artiklar som behandlade de två fallen i de fyra tidningarna. På så sätt försökte jag hitta mönster som gick igen både inom tidningarna och inom varje tidsperiod. Jag studerade bland annat språkbruk, val av detaljer, bruket av namn som "lasermannen" och rubrikval.

"Det är en ungdomsgård för vuxna" - En studie av det sociala livet på en kvarterskrog i Malmö

The purpose of this essay was to examine what social functions the local pub provides to its regular frequenters, as well as the significance of the pub in the regulars? life. Essential questions were: For what purpose do the regular frequenters visit the pub? What are the routines of the pub visit? Can regular frequenters be viewed as a homogenous group, and if so, what are the prevailing norms in the group? How do the regulars perceive the staff, does the staff influence the regulars´ choice of pub? How does the staff perceive the regular frequenters?Our method was a qualitative case study based on participant observation and eight interviews with regular frequenters on a particular pub in Malmoe, Sweden.The main conclusion of this essay was that the relationship between the regular and the pub was much deeper than we initially thought. In addition to drinking beer, they also visited the pub to avoid loneliness, find fellowship and socialize with people who have similar backgrounds and values.

Social kompetens - What?s the point? : En kvalitativ studie om hur begreppet används inom bemanningsbranschen.

The term ?social competence? is widely used by organizations in job advertisements, despite the problems of making a unified definition of it. The purpose of this study is to investigate which features the organizations require, why organizations require them and how the assessment is implemented for recruitment. To answer the purpose of this study, eight qualitative interviews conducted with recruiters from four different staffing agencies. Further a literature study was performed to define the concept of ?social competence? and its meaning, in order to later connect this to the result.

En kvalitativ studie av Social Enterprise som fenomen - Motsättningar i Social Enterprise bolag bottnar i marknadens bild av socialt företagande

A Social Enterprise is a business that features a mixture of characteristics that originates from the third and private sector. A general conception of Social Enterprises is that they aim to improve social welfare by the use of sustainable business models. The mixture of social and business features has created ambiguity about how to define Social Enterprises. The purpose of this study is to clarify Swedish Social Enterprises as a phenomenon and to examine antagonism that arises from mixing the two different sets of organisational characteristics. This is achieved by conducting a qualitative study of ten Swedish companies that the market considers to be Social Enterprises.

"Så länge man kan motivera ett beslut": en vinjettstudie av variation i bedömning om ekonomiskt bistånd

The purpose of this study was to examine divergences in assessments of social assistance in one big and one small social welfare office in the municipalities of Malmö. To examine this we used a qualitative method. We held interviews with social workers and their superiors. At the end of the interviews with the social workers we presented two vignettes, describing different cases of first time applications of social assistance. The social workers was asked to assess whether the application should be granted or not, and motivate their decisions.

The purpose of this paper has been to explore how Swedish users of the file-sharing software Direct Connect perceive their own situation and the file-sharing phenomenon. In addition to ascertain what attitudes prevail in the file-sharing culture and what knowledge file-sharers have regarding the relevant Swedish legislation. The questions central to my area of interest were: - Why do file-sharers use the program Direct Connect? - What knowledge do file-sharers have of the relevant legislation in Sweden? - What attitudes prevail in the file-sharing culture? - Is file-sharing behaviour affected by an individuals experience and/or level of knowledge? I compared the results of my survey with earlier surveys done. In addition I compared categories within the file-sharing group such as gender, age, experience and level of knowledge to determine if there were any patterns within or differences between the groups.

Överinvesterarna : En studie av avancerade språkelever i gymnasieskolan

Over-investors ? a study of advanced language pupils in the upper secondary school.  The thesis examines the advanced study of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) from a sociological point of view, inspired by Bourdieu.  Founded in official statistics and a specially designed survey its main findings can be said to be that it is mainly pupils with a high amount of acquired educational capital from higher social backgrounds who avail themselves of this opportunity, predominantly girls. The amount of inherited language and transnational capital in the family seems to be of particular importance for the pupils? choice of advanced language studies. French, German and Spanish are the predominant languages of study.

En diskursanalytisk studie om Israel-Palestina konflikten : en studie om sexdagarskriget och intifadan utifrån Dagens Nyheter

Israel-Palestina konflikten är en av de mest debatterade konflikterna i massmedia. Konflikten bevakas världen över och har varit studieobjekt för många forskare. I denna uppsats undersöks framställandet av sexdagarskriget 1967 och intifadans inledningsfas 1987 i Dagens Nyheter.Materialet analyseras utifrån Norman Faircloughs tredimensionella modell som sedan placeras i en större samhällig kontext. Björn Hettnes modell om världsordningen har använts för att få ett större samhälligt perspektiv. I uppsatsen redogörs för den kritiska diskursanalysen och den tredimensionella modellen.

Delvis deltagande: Hur volontärer lär sig förstå kulturer genom att leva i länder i Syd

Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att visa hur volontärer lär sig förstå kulturer genom att leva i länder i Syd. Detta har undersökts genom kvalitativa intervjuer med sex personer som arbetat volontärt i Syd, med fokus på följande frågor:- På vilket sätt förändrade volontärerna sin förståelse av kulturer?- Hur kan dessa förändringar förklaras genom volontärernas lärande under vistelsen i Syd?Volontärernas berättelser analyserades utifrån teori om lärande i praktikgemenskaper kombinerad med postkolonial teoribildning. Resultatet visar att volontärerna tyckte resan gett dem en större förståelse för kulturer, men att det är långt ifrån självklart vad "förståelse för kulturer" egentligen betyder. Volontärerna både ökade sin identifikation med och stereotypisering av personer från andra kulturer, men de gjorde detta på sinsemellan olika sätt.
