The Sand Catcher                                                       The thesis project The Sand Catcher investigates the encounter between permanent structures and an ever-changing landscape. The migrating sand dune Råbjerg Mile in northern Denmark is 40 meters high and moves more than 15 meters every year. By introducing a solid structure on the site, the fast movement of the sand dune is emphasised and thereby our view of time and space.Through intuitively building models with varied openings and densities I investigated how architectural elements react with sand. From these experiments a series of spatial features and effects were found, generated from the meeting with the sand.The Sand Catcher is a solid and permanent structure. The sand is the liquid element that generates new spaces, circulations and experiences.

Today we keep our horses in a way that is easy for us humans but may not always be the most optimal way for the horse. Often the housing of the horse prevents the horse from performing behaviours that they have natural needs to perform. It is not unusual that animals that can not adapt to their environment develop abnormal behaviours. Many of our stabled horses therefore develop some kind of stereotypic behaviour. This study was made in purpose of comparing the behaviour of a weaving horse to two non-weaving horses under similar conditions, where one of the horses was stabled next to the weaving horse and the other horse was stabled further away in the same stable. Seven weaving horses were included in the study.

Glimmingehus is one of the most well preserved medieval castles in Sweden. This essay examines why it was built ? what were the intentions of the Lord, Jens Holgersen? Even though we?ll never be able to ask him, the answer to the question ?why?? can give us aninsight of how a man of his position thought in the Late Medieval time. To answer the question the castle are explored through three different angles ? the Lord of the castle and thesocial context the castle was built in, the landscape surrounding Glimmingehus ? has Jens Holgersen left any structural clues there, and finally the castle itself ? how has a potential visitor experienced Glimmingehus? The methods are greatly influenced by Gunhild Eriksdotter, who in her book Bakom fasaderna explores the possibilities of an analysis ofexperience together with an analysis of function in the archaeology of buildings.

Allt fler människor vårdas och dör i sina hem, vilket gör hemmet angeläget som forskningsobjekt. Syftet med föreliggande studie är att undersöka vilken eller vilka idémängd(er) relaterad(e) till begreppet hem som förmedlas i forskning om palliativ vård, samt att analysera resultatet utifrån kulturgeografiskt centrala rumsliga begrepp och perspektiv. Använd metod är Rodgers´evolutionary concept analysis, och materialet som analyserats 15 vetenskapliga artiklar inom palliativ vård publicerade 2009-2014. Resultatet av studien redovisas i fem attribut relaterade till begreppet hem; hem som aktör, hem som känsla, hem som plats, hem som rum och hem som bakgrund. Hem som aktör karaktäriseras av att det privata hemmets förmåga att agera så att det påverkar patient, närstående eller vårdpersonal.

During the latter part of the 20th century the situation for people with intellectual disabilities in Sweden changed and developed. Clients have the right to participation and self-determination in society and in applied measures under the law of individual rights legislation; LSS. The purpose of this study is to describe and understand how team-leaders and managers in day-centres in a municipality works with participation and self-determination for clients, and what the professionals consider affects the client's possibility to self-determination and participation. The research questions intended to be answered are:? How does the team-leaders and managers work to enable self-determination and participation of the users in the public day-centres?? What does the team-leaders and managers describe and understand as enabling and limiting factors for the client?s possibility to self-determination and participation?The study is qualitative and interviews have been held with eight interviewees, which I contacted through snowball sampling.

Skillingaryd en ort i Vaggeryds kommun med ca 3800 invånare. Det är ett litet samhälle med allt vad det innebär. Varför väljer man att bo så? Vilken sorts livsmiljö är Skillingaryd? Vad är det som gör orten attraktiv? För att besvara frågorna ovan görs en ortsanalys som undersöker vilken typ av livsmiljö Skillingaryd är och som speglar hur Skillingarydsborna ser på sin ort och på sin vardag på orten. För att få en inblick i Skillingarydsbornas vardag tillfrågas en samling personer som bor på orten eller har en koppling till orten om deras syn på samhället.

The BA thesis Front Yard Gardens ? spatiality, design elements, expression and social aspects is a summary of the entrance and front yard garden phenomenon ? where the entrance is the set design and the designer is the director. The thesis touches the social context of which entrances have been and still are shaped. The various appearance of the entrance and front yard gardens throughout the history, starting with the first entrance by the edge of the wood and coming up to the front yard gardens of today, is described. It touches the present day through an analysis of some entrances and front yard gardens of modern residential areas.

Riskfrågan "översvämning" ska kommunerna ta upp i sina översiktsplaner tillsammans med övriga riskfrågor. Riskredovisningen kan ha avgörande betydelse för detaljplanering och ev. bygglov. Denna rapport koncentrerar sig kring redovisningen av denna riskfråga i översiktsplaner och i fördjupningar av översiktsplaner, men mycket av innehållet kan även appliceras på andra riskfrågor i en kommun. Trots att det i många av Sveriges kommuner inträffat upprepade stora översvämningar är detta inte något som kommunerna i någon större utsträckning hittills har tagit i beaktande vid utarbetandet av översiktsplaner. Idag är dock många kommuner på gång att göra nya kommuntäckande planer och här kommer riskfrågorna att få större utrymme än tidigare.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka om fysisk planering kan samverka eller kombineras med destinationsutveckling genom en fallstudie av Stockholms stad för att skapa attraktiva destinationer i stadens ytterstadområden.Undersökningen omfattar en fallstudie av Stockholms fysiska planering och destinationsutveckling. Studien består av tidigare studier om urban turism i en litteraturstudie. Offentliga strategidokument har också analyserats. Intervjuer med fysiska planerare och destinationsplanerare har genomförts. Vidare har resultatet av intervjuerna analyserades tematiskt, en metod som valts för dess användbarhet för att få en djupare förståelse av en företeelse i samhället.Resultaten visar att det finns utmaningar, möjligheter för planerare att samarbeta och skapa ett nytänkande om hur deras planering områden kan samverka.

Framöver kan vi vänta oss ett varmare och mer nederbördsrikt klimat i Sverige. Detta beror till stor del på den globala uppvärmningen, som huvudsakligen orsakas av den ökade mängden växthusgaser i atmosfären. Högre temperaturer bidrar bland annat till att havsisarna smälter snabbare vilket höjer havsnivån. Ett varmare och fuktigare klimat kommer att på olika sätt påverka mark, byggnader och infrastruktur. En höjd havsnivå leder till att kustområden i högre grad drabbas av översvämningar och erosion.

Förändringar pågår ständigt i samhället och är beroende av många olika processer. Så är även fallet längs kusten, vilket avspeglar sig bl a i bebyggelsen och nyttjandet av landskapet. Under början av 1900-talet blev kusten ett alltmer attraktivt rekreationsområde och stora områden togs i anspråk för fritidsbebyggelse. Idag är bilden en annan och kustzonen har blivit allt mer attraktiv som permanentbostadsort. Detta ställer nya krav på både miljön och bebyggelsen i kustlandskapet.

Introduction: Frequent attenders is a term used in health care services that define a person attending a health care setting more than four times during a 12 month period. Recently published research concerning frequent attenders in pediatric emergency departments describes their reasons for attending a health care service or characteristics of these individuals but lacks a qualitative approach exploring their experiences. There is a need of these experiences to be shared so that health care personnel caring for this group may gain a greater understanding of their needs and expectations.Aim: The aim of this study is to describe how parents of children defined as frequent attenders experience the care received at a pediatric emergency department.Method: Qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews. A pilot study of four interviews was conducted to test the method. Sampling consisted of parents of children defined as frequent attenders and that were not diagnosed with a chronic illness.

C3LOOPS is an application for DJs and VJs based on surface interaction. A system is said to be based on surface interaction if it presents content on a two dimensional, endless surface that a user navigates through zoom, pan and incremental text filtering where processing is tightly coupled with the content without breaking the workflow. C3LOOPS is designed to encourage improvisation and collaboration. During improvisation changes occur rapidly. Allowing navigation through time as well as the two spatial dimensions of an interaction surface the possibility of unlimited undo operations opens up.

My essay is an examination of the poet Mina Loy and two poems that are essential in her authorship, these poems also represents a thematic entrance to Loys life and literary concepts. On the basis of Gunnar Harding preface and translation of selected poems from the collection Lunar Baedeker, I have chosen to look further at the poems Lunar Baedeker and Songs to Joanne, poems that accommodate contexts of an esthetical and linguistic complexion.Using terminology from the philosopher Gilles Deleuze as method for analysis, enabling an examination which proceeds from the concepts of nomadism, deterritorialization and line of flight. In the consideration of Loys modernistic and woman ?becoming, a situational and relational context is introduced which includes references to feminism, cosmopolitism, futurism, modernism, Dadaism as well as to acquaintances of Gertrude Stein, Djuna Barnes, F.T. Marinetti and Isadora Duncan.
