This paper discusses runic inscriptions from the middle ages on Gotland and how they portray social structure. It focuses on three themes: (1) fixed time and space, (2) women and the nuclear family and (3) profession and social status/structure. It also discusses changes brought on by a more structured and established Christianity, as well as differences between medieval rune stones on Gotland and their predecessors Viking Age rune stones in the Mälar Valley..

För att uppnå syftet ska följande frågeställningar besvaras:Vilka faktorer bör påverka ett outsourcingbeslut?Vilka kostnader bör analyseras för att ett outsourcingbeslut ska bli väl avvägt?Vilka komponenter bör ingå i en beslutsmodell för outsourcing?Metod ? Examensarbetet bygger på en analytisk konceptuell studie med ett deduktiv och induktiv förhållningssätt, där påverkansfaktorer togs fram genom litteraturstudier. Jämförelser och analyser av redan befintliga teorier gjordes för att identifiera påverkansfaktorer, utifrån dessa faktorer skapades en beslutsmodell för outsourcing.Resultat ? Resultatet från studien visar att det finns ett flertal olika faktorer som påverkar ett outsourcingbeslut och kan sammanfattningsvis placeras som påverkansfaktorer, strategiska- och konkurrensfaktorer samt kostnadsfaktorer.

This thesis examines the effects of electricity visualization in an office building. The subject was investigated through the creation of a web based visualization tool that was made accessible to the about 1500 employees in a large office building. The visualization was available for three weeks. During this period interviews, user studies and observations took place in order to evaluate what, if any, effects the visualization had on the attitudes and behaviors in the office. Electricity use data was collected and analyzed to see if the project had a statistically significant effect on the electricity consumption in the office.The results from the interviews and the data analysis indicate that no reduction in electricity consumption took place, and a number of factors that could increase the chances of success were identified.

Geografiska informationssystem, är verktyg som kan användas visa olika mönster som visualiseras och presenteras på en karta. Uppsatsen är en kvalitativ studie med syftet att undersöka hur en prototyp för ett operationellt GIS kan utvecklas och användas för denna typ av mönster. Frågeställningarna var: Hur kan en prototyp i ett operationellt GIS utvecklas? Hur kan geografiska mönster visualiseras i ett GIS? Kunskapssynen i uppsatsen är hermeneutisk, med ett tillvägagångssätt som kan liknas vid abduktivt.

By examine plastic craniums from eight different hominids I wanted to find morfological characteristics that agreed with those of modern humans. The species that were selected had a plastic casting of its cranium in the laboratory at Gotland University. My focus was on species from the family Australopithecius and Homo and only working with their craniums. And this because the cranium and the theeth shows the most visible morfological characteristics between the different hominids. I also wanted,in a small part of the essay, to write about the differences in now living primates and humans skulls.Except from analysing the plastic castings I also studied surveys written by other scientist on the same subject.

Denna rapport har för avsikt att utreda tekniska lösningar och programmeringsspråk som kan vara lämpliga att använda vid utveckling av ett administrationsverktyg som ska användas över internet. Dehuvudsakliga kraven för verktyget är säkerhet och tillförlitlighet.Huvudsakligt fokus ligger på två programmeringsspråk, Java och Erlang. Deras virtuella maskiner, syntax, standardbibliotek samt feltolerans är några av aspekter som presenteras. Därutöver har olikalösningar för kryptering, minneshantering, nätverkstopologier samt olika sätt att kommunicera i parallella system granskats. Baserat på denna studie har två system implementerats, ett system i Java och ett iErlang.

The aim of this master thesis is to measure library service quality in two groups of libraries, newly developed and well established, and to see if there are any differences in the users perception of the dimensions in LibQUAL+. The thesis also examines the different perception of quality for the user groups: undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty. Another approach is to test the Swedish translation of LibQUAL+. Different theories on service quality are presented but the main theories are from the marketing perspective. The grounding and development of LibQUAL+ is described as well as the use of the instrument in different libraries.

AbstractSwedish tuition for immigrants (SFI) is a public adult education program in Sweden that was created in order to provide the immigrants with basic skills in Swedish. People with different backgrounds speaking different languages learn together how they should communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing. For those who teach SFI it is important to know which factors have positive effects on the Swedish language acquisition. One of the questions to be asked is if the learning materials´ genre has any effect on the SFI students´ proficiency, in particular, oral proficiency. Scientists as von Franz, Vygotskiy and Bettelheim argued that fairy tales, as a genre consciously or subconsciously recognizable by all the people, present texts that are easy to acqiure.
