?Development of Norway spruce, Douglas fir beech and Scots pine with a larch
shelter wood? is a report written by Per-Olof Magnusson. The thesis is a
compulsory part of forest engineer program at ?Skogsmästarskolan?, SLU,
Skinnskatteberg, Sweden.
The purpose of this report is to describe and evaluate an experiment with hybrid
larch (Larix x eurolepis) as shelter wood, and different tree species growth and
survival depending on the density of the shelter wood. The experiment is
conducted by southern Swedish forest research centre, faculty of forestry, SLU in
Alnarp.
The hybrid larch ought to be an interesting alternative to birch (Betula sp.) as
shelterwood on suitable sites in Southern Sweden.
Vulkanisk svaveldimma : Risken att det drabbar Sverige
In the year 1783 a fissure eruption from Laki in the southern part of Iceland produced a large amount of volcanic gases during a period of eight months. The volcanic gases and aerosols spread across the northern hem sphere due to ideal weather conditions and had a substantial impact on the environment, human health and also climate effects. This, so called dry fog, caused severe health problems, which led to death casualties, killing animals, crops and other vegetation. The consequence was a widespread famine which was aggravated by a hard and long winter in 1783/84. Analysis shows that the Icelandic volcanoes are the primary risk to produce dry fog that can affect Sweden.
Analysen utfördes inom vattenskyddsområdet Ignaberga-Hässleholm i Hässleholms kommun.
A boom in horticulture characterized the 18th century in Sweden and Skåne. Parks and gardens were gradually built out to become, at the end of the 18th century, large and comfortable facilities which responded to European parks. During the late 1700s the new fashion came to Sweden. In Sweden it was named ?the English style? which directly refers to the English expression ?Romantic style?.
Humorstilar, Emotionell Perception och Kön ? Vem skrattar mest och vem skrattar sist?
The main aim of this research was to investigate four humour styles, affiliative, self-enhancing, aggressive, and self-defeating humour, and compare these with emotional perception. Forty-eight persons took part in the research, 27 women and 21 men living in the southern part of Sweden. Two humour tests were used: the Humour Scale Questionnaire ? HSQ, with 32 items, and a newly composed video test, assembled after pilot testing from 26 video clips, the Humour Video Questionnaire ? HVQ. To measure perception and interpretation of emotion, the revised version of the ?Reading the Mind in the Eyes? Test was used.
Abstract and summaryThe glocal province of competence. The regional building up of knowledge at Växjö University and its choice of home region. The aim of the study is to give views on knowledge and to describe and discuss which home region Växjö University has chosen as its context. Taking my point of departure in the literature and in examples, I illustrate, discuss and examine how three different disciplines at the university have chosen their home regions. The disciplines are history, economics and biology. The study covers the last 33 years. The empirical study, with its focus only on regional matters, is based on four sources. 1.
The market value of forest properties can be assumed to consist of two components, a monetary factor and a non-monetary factor. The objective of this examination paper is to study the impact of non-monetary factors on the values of forest properties in Sweden.
There are several known instances of megalithic graves being rebuilt and reused already in prehistoric time. The aim of this study is to investigate the phenomenom of megalithic reuse through the theorethical framework of social memory. Focus lies on two graves in Southern Sweden; Firse sten in Falbygden and Skepparsl?v 10 in Scania. The two graves were originally constructed as passage graves but have in different ways been remodified into gallery graves.
Konkurrenssituationen för den skånska grönsaksproduktionen :
The vegetable production in Sweden is concentrated to the very southern parts of the country. This is also were the major wholesalers are located. In recent years, there has been an extreme focus on price on the food market. As there are only a few big wholesalers and also very few food retail chains, these have a great impact on the producers. The pressure from prominent vegetable-producing countries, providing low price products, such as the Netherlands and Spain is strong.
Evaluation of transgenic lines of field pepperweed (Lepidium campestre L.)
The worldwide industrial demand of energy, often in form of fossil fuel, is continuously growing and at the same time these resources are coming to an end (Hamamre, 2013). The interest and focus in renewable sources are then more important than ever and plants are suggested to be a good
alternative for production of raw material for industrial purposes (Nilsson et al., 1998). But the world is also facing an increasing world population which also increase the nutritional needs, plants therefore need to be suitable for both industrial and nutritional purposes. To achieve this, common plants need to be improved but it also need new potential crops to be developed and introduced
(Carlsson et al., 2009). Modern technology like gene engineering is an important tool to achieve these challenges (Carlsson et al., 2011).
This work focused on analyzes and evaluation of different transgenic lines of field pepperweed (Lepidium campestre L.).
In the current situation there is not much written about assessment of laboratory work, and the majority of the working physics teachers are retiring and there are only a few newly qualified physics teachers. The purpose of this thesis is to examine how physics teachers assess laboratory work within upper secondary schools, with Gy2011 in mind. The new grade system, Gy2011, has a larger focus on the laboratory work then the earlier system Lpf 94. Skolverket has in their man-ual with examples of assessment two different sorts of laboratory experiments. The first assess-ment is regarding the planning of a laboratory work and the other about how able the pupil exe-cutes laboratory work.
Skogen Brun : ett nedslag i västsvensk skogshistoria
After the last is age there was a long period when there was no shortage of forest for peoples needs. People living in Sweden could use the forest resources at their will. Around 4000 years BC the inhabitants of Southern Sweden started to use the agricultural system and people become more stationary. The farms were located together in groups and together they formed a social association, the village. Successively the population grew and in some areas the forest started to become a finite resource.
Survey of regulations concerning pesticides in Sweden and the EU : cultivation techniques and competition aspects for Swedish onion and apple producer
As a member of the EU, Sweden has, in some cases, transferred the controlling rights to the Union. This means that the rules defined by the EU must be followed in all member countries, including Sweden. The European Agricultural policy constitutes the largest part of the EU's
annual budget and is in contrast to many other areas fully funded at EU level. The last decade, many new regulations on chemicals and pesticides have been introduced which brought great changes and a lot of work throughout the Union, including Sweden. Sweden has always had a strict policy on chemicals and has been at the forefront when it comes to sustainable agriculture and environmental management.
BBIC i samverkan för barnets bästa
Purpose of this study is to investigate whether BBIC had an effect on the interaction between social services and schools. To find this out, a comparative study carried out between two municipalities in Southern Sweden who has worked with the BBIC system different lengths of time. The empirical data is based on six qualitative interviews with heads of unit in social services, principals in secondary schools, and social workers who work with children- and youth investigations. The theoretical framework consists of Bronfenbrenners Ecology model, systems theory as organizational theory and the theory of autopoiesis, and Danermark model of collaboration. The results of the survey show that respondents do not find that their inter-organizational collaboration has been significantly affected by the implementation of BBIC, but that BBIC provides a good basis for collaboration due to the logic and structure of the system..
Planering i staden. Hyllie stadsdel- från stagnation till integration?
This thesis deals with urban planning in connection with social and spatial integration. It´s a study of a new planning project in Malmö in Southern Sweden. It´s an interesting case because this new, fashionable area will be located next to areas facing socio-economical challanges and stagnation. By using two theoretical models I analyse how the visions for planning a city are formulated and applied when policy is going to be operated. My models are ?the balanced community? and ?the dual community? .The conclusion is that the focus for Malmö and Hyllie is going towards emphasing the creation of attractive but segregated districs in a city.
