This study examines the factors that influence the seasonal movements of Golden Eagles (Aquila chrysaetos), and can thus provide important information that helps to improve the protection of the species. There were two main purposes of this study. First, I wanted to analyze the difference between preferences of juvenile and adult Golden Eagles in their choice of southern or northern hibernation areas. Do younger eagles prefer moving longer distance to southern areas of Sweden? Second, I wanted to investigate how the climate influenced the choice of date of migration in the fall.

Uppsatsen handlar om hur Västerås centrala parker används. Arbetet syftar till att utvärdera om deras utseende, karaktärer och funktioner bidrar till att tillgodose invånarnas behov och intressen. Hur användningen förändrades beroende på aspekter som väder, vardag eller helgdag samt tid på dagen undersöktes genom platsobservationer vid olika tider och dagar. De tre parkerna Vasaparken, Rudbecksparken och Djäkneberget i Västerås valdes ut för undersökningen. Vasaparken och Rudbecksparken liknar till utformning och karaktär majoriteten av stadens centrala parker.

Bakgrunden till vår uppsats var de tankar som vi hade kring tillgängligheten till nationalparker och skyddade områden. Nationalparker och skyddade områden ligger ofta på platser som inte är lättillgängliga. Som besökare till dessa områden behövs ofta egen bil eller båt för att ta sig dit. En del av planeringen vid upprättelserna av parkerna består av att säkra att de är tillgängliga.Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka hur de svenska nationalparkerna har gjorts tillgängliga för offentligheten, sedan upprättelsen av de första nationalparkerna i Sverige i 1909 och till Hamra Nationalpark utvidgades kraftigt i 2011. Vidare är syftet att belysa de olika etableringsdiskurserna.För att kunna undersöka detta har vi använt oss av litteraturstudier för att samla information om historiken kring nationalparkerna samt vad som tas upp i Sveriges nationalparksplan.

The purpose with my essay was to investigate how genre pedagogy works in a practical manor? I wanted to reach a deeper understanding for the genre pedagogy and to find out if it fits all students. To investigate this issue I have asked following questions:What is genre pedagogy?How do teachers work with different genres in the genre pedagogy?For whom is the genre pedagogy?Is the critic right that Frøydis Hertzberg is proposing about the genre pedagogy formalism? I have been using qualitative methods, to gather my empirical data. I have been using two unstructured interviews and one unsystematically observation, in a third grade class in a school south of Stockholm, with 30% second language students.

The choice between bare-rooted and containerized seedlings in southern Sweden affects the investment costs as well as growth and survival. It is important to take these differences into account when choosing seedling type for reforestation. The most important differences between the two seedling-types is that bare-rooted seedlings has open root systems whereas the roots of containerized seedlings are grown in a container which may contain water and nutrients that are available for the seedling during the first period after planting. Moreover, bare-rooted seedlings are often older which results in thicker stembase and better resistance to attacks of pine-weevil (Hylobius abietis). In order to study differences in survival and growth between bare-rooted and containerized seedlings a survey study of newly planted clearcuts in south-western Sweden was made. In the study tree seedling types was included, one bare-rooted and two containerized with different ages. The population of pine weevils was probably low during the studied period which resulted in lower pine-weevil damage than normally found in this area.

In this report a study has been done regarding different heating systems on which are the mostcomprehensive with solar heating systems. The report has also been focusing if solar power can beused as a primary heating source for supplying more than 50 % of the buildings total heatingproduction. The University of Dalarna constructed a demo-house for this purpose and according tocalculations the total solar usage is more than 50 %. This house has been made for referenceregarding the design of the heating system of property 5:37.Further studies have been made to compare different heating systems that are compatible with asolar system, where the compared systems purpose is to be independent of direct using electricity. Asystem of this design is regarded as sustainable according to environmental as economic issues.

I dagens allt tätare städer har platser med växtlighet och grönska blivit ett ofta diskuteratämne. Sedan ett par decennier tillbaka har uppvärmda vinterträdgårdar byggts runtom i världen (främst på norra halvklotet) och de senaste åren har även gröna väggaroch tak blivit ett allt vanligare inslag i våra urbana miljöer. I Sverige byggdes mångavinterträdgårdar under det glada åttiotalet, en trend som tog tvärstopp några år in pånittiotalet. Av olika orsaker har dock intresset för inglasade växtanläggningar återigenväckts.När en planteringsyta planeras i exempelvis en park, är målsättningen att skapa så braförutsättningar för god tillväxt hos växten som möjligt. Detta kräver förståelse ochkunskap både om vilka behov olika växter har och om hur miljön på den planeradeplatsen kan anpassas för att uppfylla dessa.

As a forest owner you always have to consider hazards and uncertainty when planning your forestry actions. The aim with this report is to test my hypothesis that there is an overall difference between men and women when it comes to perception, estimation and management of hazards/risks in forestry. I will look into if there are differences in how men and women estimate risks in production forestry from an economical point of view. The aim is also to look into if there are differences between male and female private forest owners, in how they perceive and manage hazards in connection with a possible climate change. To fulfil this aim, an inquiry survey was undertaken in three different areas of Sweden, two areas in the south and one in the north. But in this report I have evaluated the three areas as a whole.

Buffer zones play an important role for the water quality in our watercourses. When harvesting a forest close to a watercourse a buffer zone should be left. When it's not left, it will lead to radical changes in the environment for the water organisms. The overall purpose of this thesis was to illuminate the production- and environmental thinking when establishing new buffer zones in south of Värmland. The partials goals were to determine choice of tree species, ways of regenerate, occurrence of soil scarification and the occurrence of machine tracks in newly established buffer zones.

A case study of inner Brisbane highlight the significance of addressing characteristics, qualities and landscape values in our outdoor environment. At the same time population growth, climate change and urban development put planners and scientists in a challenging position where new solutions must be put on the agenda in order to accomplish sustainability. Open space strategies, collaboration between stakeholders, public participation, learn from earlier failings and a ?value-led? approach facilitate the managing of open space. Brisbane is located in the fastest growing metropolitan region in Australia. The city´s open space landscapes offer cultural, geographical, recreational, social and scenic amenity assets, which make a major contribution to the regions identity they a wide world known for.

Automobilpalatset i Jönköping, ritat av byggnadsingenjör Birger Lindström, uppfördes under åren 1929-1930 och var ett av de första parkeringshusen i Sverige. Förutom parkering fanns det utställningshallar och bilförsäljning, service och bensinstation-långt före bilismen var en del av folks vardag. Efter rivningshot byggnadsminnesmärktes huset år 2001.  Idag finns andra affärsverksamheter i gatuplan, resterande våningar står relativt tomma och mycket nedgånga. Automobilpalatset ägs av kommunen och det finns för närvarande ingen plan för förändring.  Jag vill i mitt förslag addera människan till Automobilpalatset. Stadsbilden och synen på bilen har förändrats sedan 1930.

The search for antibiotic compounds from the natural environment has been going on for seven decades, ever since penicillin entered the market and antibiotic treatments became routine. The evolutionary pressure put on the pathogenic microorganisms induced a rapid spreading of naturally occurring resistance genes, leaving only the option of finding new antibiotics to treat the resistant pathogens. Microorganisms have been extensively mined for their biosynthetic abilities to produce biologically active compounds. To date, more than 23 000 microbial natural products have been discovered. The Actinomycetales are ubiquitous bacteria that have been used for antibiotic discovery for more than half a century, and over 10 000 natural products have been identified from the order.

In Scandinavia today many old harbour areas are developed into residential and commercial areas. For example are both Helsingborg city and Malmoe city in south Sweden planning to restructure some of their harbour areas to accommodate shops, schools, offices, residences et cetera. In Copenhagen in Denmark new plans for Nordhavn is also underway. In almost every plan proposal to redevelope an old harbour area the harbour activities are set a side to give room for new development. In Reykjavik, however, this has not been the case.

Näst längst ut på blå linje ligger Tensta. Det tar 19minuter med tunnelbanan från t-centralen och under någramånader åkte jag till Tensta ett tjugotal gånger. Jag deltogi läxhjälp, var på politiska möten, gick nattvandringar ochplockade skräp. Besöken dokumenterades medanteckningar, skisser eller fotografier och är en del avexamensarbetet "Jag och Tensta, personligt perspektiv pådet offentliga rummet".Arbetet mynnade ut i tre upprustningsförslag till Tenstacentrum, alla med utgångspunkt från olika slutsatser ochiakttagelser som kom fram under min vistelse i Tensta.Genom att lägga stor tid på inventeringsskedet och platsbesökville jag om möjligt få fram dolda kvaliteter ochbrister med fokus på upplevelse och önskningar snarare änmer mätbara fakta.Examensarbetet har varit processorienterat vilket gjordeatt jag från början inte visste vilken väg de olika inventeringsbesökenskulle ta eller i vilken skala slutresultatetskulle te sig.Det första förslaget "I skuggan i Tensta" består av elvaväderskydd placerade centralt i Tensta. Väderskydden kananvändas till torghandeln, som sittplatser och när de inteanvänds fungerar de som en del av belysningen av centrum.Väderskydden är utformade med ett stormönstrat tak varsskuggverkan syftar till att ge en illusion av att sitta underett fruktträd, en kvalitet som idag saknas i Tensta.I det andra förslaget "Vardag" bearbetas Tenstas park- ochinfrastruktur på ett mer påtagligt sätt.
