I många städer sker idag en förtätning för att försöka skapa så hållbara samhällen som möjligt. En förtätning av staden har dock inte endast positiva effekter då det idag sker en tydlig minskning av städernas andel vegetation. Vilka blir då konsekvenskerna för denna minskning? Natur och grönska har alltid varit en viktig tillgång för människors hälsa och välbefinnande. Kan man ersätta stora kvantitativa grönområdena med små kvalitativa parker? Vilka rekreationsvärden försvinner med en minskad storlek? Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka och diskutera kring frågan: Kan små kvalitativa parker ersätta stora kvantitativa grönområden ur ett rekreationsperspektiv? Genom en litteraturstudie har jag undersökt vilka funktioner som rör människors hälsa och välbefinnande som finns i urbana parker.

An increasing number of peole are resisting the attraction of living around nature and opting instead to spend their lives in cities. Parks and green areas play an important part in our well-being and we become fascinated with the diversity of nature, in which we find a peacefulness that is unique. Amongst other things, being surrounded by nature can reduce high blood presure, lower the production of stress hormones and stimulate the mind and our ability to concentrate. It is therefore vitally important to entice city residents to parks and green areas to improve their physical and mental well-being. Previous research has shown that humans are seeking for certain characteristics in the parks and green areas which they are visiting.

SammanfattningDet här arbetet bygger på en inventering av Stadsträdgården/Boulognerskogen i Gävle, sett ur folkhälsosynpunkt, där syftet har varit att hitta och identifiera de åtta strukturella kvaliteter; egenskaper i uppbyggnaden, som behövs i en hälsofrämjande park. Utifrån ett formulär från Statens Folkhälsoinstitut har frågor angående grönområdets allmänna karaktärer (naturtyp, upplevelsekvaliteter) och särskilda karaktärer (tillgänglighet, trygghet, anpassningar) besvarats, utvärderats och sammanställts för att kunna svara på om parkens innehåll uppfyller de kriterier som förväntas av ett hälsofrämjande grönområde . I inventeringen har hänsyn tagits till följande målgrupper barn/ungdom, äldre, personer med funktionsnedsättning, övriga samhällsgrupper.För att kunna förstå stadsparkernas utvecklingsfaser i Sverige har en litteraturstudie gjorts om stadsparkers historia. En litteraturstudie har även gjorts inom ämnet miljöpsykologi och hälsa för att få en förståelse kring hur naturen påverkar och uppfattas av människor ur folkhälsosynpunkt.Stadsträdgården och Boulognerskogen har varit en plats för rekreation för Gävleborna sedan långt tillbaka och är det än idag. Parkens utseende och närområdet har förändrats en del under åren och det har fört med sig att även parkens hälsofrämjande kvaliteter förändrats.

Historiska stadsbyggnadsstrategier med fokus på hållbarhet eller grönska utgör utgångspunkten för framtagandet av en ny stadsbyggnadsstrategi som ska vara hållbar ur alla aspekter; både ur ett socialt, ekologiskt och ekonomiskt perspektiv. I kandidatuppsatsen undersöks möjligheterna att fortsätta förtäta staden och samtidigt behålla stadens parker och grönska. Stadsbyggnadsstrategin är döpt till Stad-i-park och är en utopisk vision som syftar till att förändra vårt sätt att leva och vilken funktion en stad ska fylla för att nå en hållbar utveckling. Detta uppnås i teorin genom att ersätta transporterna inom staden med framförallt spårbunden trafik, öka mötesplatserna i staden genom att föra in mer grönska och torg samt att förtäta staden då byggnader som tillhör dagens trafiksystem inte längre behövs. Förändringar i infrastrukturen ska inte påverka rörligheten utan staden ska även i fortsättningen vara tillgänglighetsanpassad vilket bl.a.

This thesis deals with information provision to the knowledge intense biotechnology businesses of Ideon Science Park in Lund, Sweden. Previous research concerning the information needs of Science Park companies has been conducted from the information provider s perspective. Instead, we apply a user perspective to find out what information needs these companies have, and how they prefer to acquire information. Central terms are: information, -needs, -acquisition, -consciousness, -strategy, small and medium sized enterprises, scientists and engineers, information (resources) management, networks, tacit knowledge, knowledge transfer and innovative milieux. The companies need scientific and business information; the latter is easily obtained within Ideon.

The Internet is a constant source of information about the world and has contributed to the globalization of texts and pictures. A part in the tourists process of consumption involves looking at pictures and read about places that create an image of places that they have never been to. Websites are therefore important as a first impression and it is here that places are being represented. Places are created on the Internet and the Australian outback is an example of this. The study is interesting because it can be used to understand the relationship between people and places.

In the middle of the 19th century came an opposite reaction against the hospitals? treatment of their patients and a more human way was requested. A link between crowded housing, bad hygien and other bad conditions had been noticed and nature was considered to be healthy. Hospitals and sanatiories moved closer to nature due to influences from England, USA and Germany, and cities began building public parks. Employment was seen as calming and healthy for the patients.

The aim of this paper was to investigate whether or not it is possible to keep bottlenose dolphins and killer whales in captivity while maintaining good animal welfare. Today, many zoos and aquariums claim that their primary function is to conserve species and educate people about conservation and threatened species. The keeping of wild animals is justified by conservation programs and by the information spread to the zoo visitors. This does however not seem to be the case for marine mammals such as bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops sp.) and killer whales (Oricnus orca) since these species are not threatened in the wild and neither of them are listed as threatened in IUCN's Red List. Bottlenose dolphins and killer whales are entirely aquatic carnivores and are distributed in all coastal and pelagic waters from the Arctic ice in the north to the Antarctic ice in the south.

Since a couple of decades the community of Jönköping has worked out an urban vision of how the city should be appropriated expanded. The prospect extends to around year 2040 and deals with the area south of lake Munksjön in Jönköping, Sweden. Today there is a proposal of how this would look like and what main public functions that should be located there. One issue in the so-called urban vision 2.0 indicates a congressional building. This report describes how such an object can be designed according to the urban vision conditions.The work is focused on three main themes;* Architectural concept and a modern form of expression.* A functional attractive congress building in a new planned town centre.* General concept of a realistic structure system that meet the spatial and architectural possibilities.Various concepts in the meeting industry and in the architecture field are identified in order to understand the concepts and ideas with today´s congress buildings.

The global wood pellet market has seen a rapid growth after the adoption of the Kyoto protocol and the renewable energy incentives created within the European Union. The global consumption of wood pellets reached 13,5 million tonnes in 2010 and several experts estimate the consumption to be between 35-50 million tonnes by 2020. These forescasts raise the questions which regions that can supply this vast amount of wood pellets and what the conditions are for producing it. This study evaluates the conditions for wood pellet production and export from British Columbia, on Canada?s west coast, focusing on existing industry structure, raw material supply and the distribution chain.

Syftet med mitt projekt är att med arkitekturens synliggöra detta utbredda samhällsproblem. Genom att föreslå en egen byggnad i övrig stadsbebyggelse för dessa specifika brottsoffer så visar jag att problemet finns samtidigt som jag också meddelar kvinnorna att de brottsoffer med en sådan juridisk status och att de inte behöver gömma sig utan kan bo säkert inne i staden..
