In January 2005 large forest areas in south Sweden were severely damaged by storm. This final thesis describes the work with creating an ecological and landscape-adapted regeneration plan for a severely storm damaged property in Kronobergs region in south Sweden. This regeneration plan, in difference to more regular plans, are focusing more on the owner?s use and goal?s for the property and seeing the property from a more comprehensive view in the regeneration process. Beside production and environmental values the plan also take in consideration other values as aesthetic, culture history, landscape picture and recreation values.

Rekreation har flera definitioner, i denna studie används definitionen "återhämtning i en stärkande miljö". Idag vet vi att grönska i staden har en stor betydelse för människors hälsa och livskvalitet, och rekreation i utemiljö är en viktig del av stadsbornas möjlighet att återhämta sig från vardagens stress och krav. De finns flera teorier kring innebörden av rekreation, både inom psykologin, medicin och landskapsarkitekturens forskning. Ämnet miljöpsykologi behandlar frågor som berör människans relation till sin närmiljö och miljöns påverkan på människan. Denna studie behandlar rekreationsvärden i park och grönområde, den gör ett försök att ta reda på vilka dessa rekreationsvärden är och var de finns. I projektet Green Space Award (GSA) finns ett intresse för att lyfta fram parker och naturområden med en god kvalitet när det kommer till funktion och organisation, genom att tilldela de som uppnår kriterierna priset GSA. Målet med denna studie var att hitta ett passande verktyg som skulle kunna identifiera och bedöma dessa kvaliteter utifrån kriteriet rekreation. Som exempel på verktyg för bedömning och värdering av park och grönområdens rekreationsvärde testas Patrik Grahns åtta parkkaraktärer (Grahn, 2005).

Biodiversity consists of all life on Earth and in all forms. Biodiversity is often discussed at three levels: ecosystem, species and genetic variation within species. Biodiversity also provides many of the ecosystem services performed by nature and that we depend on, including cultural services such as aesthetic values, education and recreation. In Sweden the environmental objectives are central; there are 16 environmental quality objectives, and "A rich plant and animal life" is one of them. Conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity is a prerequisite for achieving also most other environmental objectives. Another environmental quality objective that is tied to a rich biodiversity in cities and biodiversity is "Good built environment" where cities, towns and other built environment should provide a good living habitat and contribute to a good environment.

Att växa inåt, eller att förtäta, är något som man i många städer strävar efter. En av dem är Malmö som i sin nya översiktsplan, ÖP2012, lägger mycket fokus på just förtätning. Det är ett viktigt steg ifrån den funktionsuppdelade till den blandade staden och kan innebära både miljömässiga, sociala och ekonomiska fördelar. Exempelvis genom att resurser samutnyttjas bättre, färre transporter, större trygghet, bättre integration och större attraktivitet. En ogenomtänkt förtätning kan dock innebära negativa konsekvenser.

To explore how children use dialect, and whether the dialectal language develops during growth might be of interest from a speech language pathologist?s point of view as the dialect could influence the child?s speech. Previous research is often based on older material and/or examines the speech of adults.  In the present study, everyday language in groups of south- eastern Swedish speaking children was investigated. The aim of the present study was to examine to what extent typically developed children of the ages of  5, 8 and 11 years use dialectal language. A further purpose was to discover which dialectal characteristics that were present in the different age groups, and how they differed.

Ronneby torg är beläget centralt i Ronneby stadskärna i sydöstra Blekinge. På denna plats går det att identifiera tre problem som utgör brist på människor (social hållbarhet), rumslighet (mötesplats) och vegetation (ekologisk hållbarhet). Tidigare har torgets södra del innefattat en stadspark vid namn ?Gröna Torget? medan hela torget idag utgörs av en hårdgjord yta med inslag av träd i dess kanter. Det finns ett behov från Ronneby kommun att utveckla torget som en mötesplats, då kommunen utlyst en förslagstävling av just denna anledning.

This is an essay about gated communities and their impact on society. The key questions of my essay are: why people choose to live in gated communities; how the city is impacted by gated communities and what the difference concerning the reasons and impact of gated communities in Florida and Sweden is, and what this difference might depend on. I am using postmodern urbanism as a starting point, and I look closer on Edward J. Soja?s theories about the postmodern metropolis.

Vi har som examnesarbete utformat en informationsbroschyr åt Munktell Science Park (MSP), med hjälp av god textdesign har vi förmedlat MSP:s koncept till en bred målgrupp. Vi har haft fokus på texterna då det redan fanns en grafisk manual. Genom materialinsamling och undersökningar kom vi fram till hur vi på bästa sätt kunde producera den här informatinosbroschyren..

This master project in landscape architecture is named Interactivation Design - places for social imagination and conversation in Lindängelund. There are two main purposes of this thesis the first being to bring forth a study of interactivity implemented in the subject of landscape architecture. The second purpose of this thesis is to present a proposal to design a confluent landscape weaving together the upcoming botanical garden of Lindängelund and the residential area of Almvik, both situated in southern Malmö, Sweden, and also weaves people and their experiences together. This project may be described as investigative and experimentative reaserch by design.The first part of this project, Interactivation, is consisting of a theoretical report which discusses different ways of approaching when, how and why we interact in public space. Literature studies in for example space, placemaking, social life, people, participation and Japanese emptiness concepts has been undertaken to gain knowledge in the aim to create interactive landscape design.The second part, Context and Design Proposal, introduces the project context area of Southern Fosie in Malmö which consists of different kinds of residential areas, people of different nationalities and a large building site for a botanical garden and recreational area.

This time budget study was made during daytime and when there were no visitors or caretakers in the park. The horses where observed in the morning (5.30-6.30 am) and in the evening (5.45-6.45 pm) during four days. In addition to a time budget, the horses? positions in the enclosure were registered.

Men det är samtidigt bevisat att man mår bättre av att vistas i naturen än bland bebyggelsen i staden. Speciellt stor effekt har naturen för återhämtning från stress (Sahlin, 2010, s. 29).

Abstract This master thesis is a result of the work thas was done for my entry in the international architectural competition Urban spaces and urban life in Ørestad South, that was announced by Ørestadselskabet on the 31st of October 2006. The project work lasted from early November until the deadline on 14th of February. In addition to the proposal that was handed in, the master thesis consists of a number of reflections about the work that was done and design work in general. The proposal is an answer to a not that evident task. One would expect that the assigment was clearly defined in the brief of the competition like this. And so it seems to do but to define the real assignment and join your own aims to it from such an extensive brief can be quite time consuming. Why do architects participate and what is an architectural competition? How does the brief affect the choices and statements made by the entrants? What is a square? What is the strategy that leads to a convincing concept? The role and use of a concept in the design process.

Parker utgör med sina gröna lungor en kontrast till stenstaden och är en ovärderlig resurs för storstadsmänniskan för att finna avkoppling, ro och stimulans. För att kunna erbjuda detta krävs att parkerna upplevs som trygga. Frågan om vad som skapar känslan av trygghet är komplex men en av de viktigaste faktorerna är att parken upplevs som befolkad. För att attrahera besökare krävs att parken är välskött med en gestaltning som utstrålar omsorg i kombination med intressanta, lekfulla och stimulerande, gärna ?gröna? aktiviteter. För att kunna skapa detta behöver landskapsarkitekter, politiker och tjänstemän bli medvetna om problemställningarna och de möjligheter till gestaltningslösningar som påverkar upplevelsen av trygghet. Teoridelen baseras på information och studier som behandlar trygghet i offentliga utemiljöer.

For years the northern parts of Sweden, Norrland (translated: North land) has been considered mystified and exotified by the southern, more urban parts of the country. The rural Norrland ? though 60 percent of Sweden ? is seldom a part of the common conversation, meaning that most of the people living in the southern parts simply have no idea what is happening in the north. The one million people living in Norrland, on the other hand, every day gets to know what happens in the south on the evening news. The question about this possible structural relation between the urban and the rural became a large matter of cultural debate in the spring of 2015, If this thesis is true, we have a problem on our hands; can the national news be considered national if half the country is misrepresented? That question is what this essay is trying to find out by analyzing two of Swedens largest national newspapers.
