The purpose of this investigation was to find out more about students? spontaneous ideas about properties and transformations of matter. Examples of matter chosen are such which students know about from everyday life and focus is mainly on the questions if students know that all matter has weight and that matter is preserved in transformations.The method used is semi structured qualitative interviews with individual students. Different experiments were carried out together with the students who afterwards were interviewed. However, the students show varying answers and no generalizations can be done.
Ökad kollagring i boreal skog : Kan blädningsbrukad skog lagra mer kol än trakthyggesbrukad skog?
This study was conducted to test the hypotheses that a forest managed by selective cutting can store more carbon than a forest managed by clearcutting. The study was carried out as a meta-analysis. The data that was found was analyzed by performing t-tests on the proportional effect that the two silvicultural methods had on the driving factors of CO2-efflux and carbon stores in coniferous boreal forest. In all areas tested, an effect in favor of selective cutting was found, but not all of them significant however. The soil respiration following selective cutting was significantly lower than that of clearcutting, and the primary production of a clearcut area cannot according to reason exceed that of an area post-selective cutting.

Miljonprogram is a Swedish building program from 1964 to 1975. During that time about a million homes were constructed. Now, almost 50 years later, they are in desperate need of renovation. In order to fulfil the Swedish environmental objective to decrease energy consumption 50 per cent until 2050, considerable housing stock built under the Miljonprogram has to be renovated.Focus in this thesis is on the building services and theirs profitability that can decrease energy consumption in households build during the Miljonprogram. Building construction is not considered in this report.

In the west part of Trelleborg, on previous farmland a new society is under construction. It is situated right next to the ocean and close to the European freeway. Eight types of villages, all with different kind of architecture will be built in the area, one of them is Torns Village built by Skanska and Ikea. A concept called BoKlok.
This specific village consists of twelve houses and five apartment buildings. They are all somewhat classical in their appearance with wooden panel, but at the same time they have a modern touch.

Kenya is considered to be a developing country. This means that basic needs such as nutrition are not met for an extended period of time (www, Sida 1, 2012). Approximately half of the population is living under the poverty line (www, CIA 1, 2012). Agriculture is the largest sector in the country, employing 75% of the population. These are thereby directly dependent on the sufficiency of outputs received.

However an anaerobic environment needs to be sustained in order for this reaction to be used. For this reduction to work in an aerobic environment as well, a greater knowledge of the reducing enzymes, regulating factors and their corresponding genes is needed.
Markberedningsresultat och plantbildning med såddaggregaten Humax 2-4 och KSM-såddskopa
Fördelarna med skogssådd är bland annat att de kan ge stamtäta bestånd med potential att producera träd med bra vedegenskaper och bättre utvecklade rotsystem samt att sådder har en högre biomassaproduktion per ytenhet jämfört med planteringar. Nackdelar som kan nämnas är att de ofta täta förbanden ger ökade kostnader vid eventuella röjningar och att föryngringsresultatet är mera osäkert för sådd än för plantering.Mekaniseringen av skogssådden startade under 1970-talet. Humax och KSM är två kranspetsmonterade aggregat för skogssådd. De har utvecklats för att användas på marker med svår ytstruktur där dragna såddaggregat som harv och högläggare har svårigheter att skapa tillräckligt mycket lämplig såddbädd på grund av att aggregatet inte kommer ner mellan hindren eller att basmaskinen inte klarat av att köra över hela arealen. Fördelen med KSM och Humax är att aggregaten är kranspetsmonterade vilket gör att föraren väljer var aggregatet skall markbereda och på det viset kan markberedningen göras mellan hindren samt att kranarmens räckvidd gör att basmaskinen inte behöver köra över hela arealen som skall markberedas.

Deep Green i oceana strömmar - en konceptstudie
With growing economies and better living standards in many parts of the world today, there is a need of expanding the capacity of generating electricity. The alternatives for renewable energy technologies are not fully developed and have still some problems to conquer.The company Minesto has developed a technology that is called Deep Green. It is designed to gain electricity from tidal currents. Deep Green works in a similar way as a kite that is attached to the seafloor with a moving wire. It contains of a wing that moves due to the water current.

Burnt Spine-cap Sárcodon fuligíneovioláceus are one the most endangered
mycorrhizal fungal species in Europe. They have their main distribution in Sweden. It
form mycorrhiza with pine and dependent on limestone, which makes it connected to
a rare environment. It has therefore been important to study the ecology of it further
and to recognise the requirement it has on the environment more accurate and what it
need to establish in a new area. In this study, 31 of 34 known sites in Sweden was
visited and studied in field and their history analysed through aerial photographs.

Vindkraft är en förnyelsebar och utsläppsfri naturresurs. En fortsatt global utbyggnad av land- och havsbaserad vindkraft är att vänta. Fördelar med vindkraft till havs är bättre vindförhållanden och lägre krav på hänsyn till landskapsbild och närboende, vilket medför att vindkraftverken kan byggas större och därmed kan vinden utnyttjas mer effektivt. För havsbaserade vindparker krävs en lösning för grundläggning som är rationell och anpassningsbar. Vid dimensionering av konstruktioner till havs är det viktigt att ta hänsyn till den cykliska belastningen från vind och vågor konstruktionen utsätts för.

Burnt alun shale and lime is the residual product that was formed when alun shale was
used as fuel to convert limestone to quick lime. The material contains arsenic, vanadium,
molybdenum, cadmium, nickel, lead, and uranium among other elements. The aim of this
paper is to examine the uptake of trace elements in vegetables grown on burnt alun shale
and lime to determine whether or not the surrounding environment and humans are
exposed to these elements by eating plant products.
A cultivation trial was carried out where onion, carrot, and lettuce were grown on three
mounds of burnt alun shale and lime in the Falköping area in Sweden. The treatments
were burnt alun shale and lime mixed with peat, only burnt alun shale and lime, and a
reference soil. The reference plots were natural soil mixed with peat adjacent to the
mounds.

I dagsläget när intresset för miljövänlig energi ökar, ses den småskaliga vattenkraften som ett sätt att minska Sveriges import av energi. I Sverige finns det tusentals nedlagda kvarnar och små vattenkraftstationer som med små medel skulle kunna börja leverera energi. I Björkefall i Olofströms kommun finns en privatägd och övergiven kvarn. Detta arbete undersöker möjligheterna till en småskalig vattenkraftstation i denna åt Olofströms Kraft AB.Småskalig, vattenkraft, elkraft, generator, turbin .
Kvarteret Mjölnaren : bostadsgård på bjälklag
Uppsalahem, Uppsalas municipal renting company, builds about 250 new apartments every year. Mjölnaren in Kungsängen is a project which contributes with about 130 new renting apartments finished in 2010/2011.
This report has lead up to a proposal. Focus lies on how to create a courtyard on beam joists where shape, style and different types of functions are important elements. The report also brings up ground materials, details, plants, availability and built up plantings. All these aspects together are what create a well functioning and pleasant courtyard.
All through the work with this report I have taken part of the meetings concerning the project.
