Unaccompanied children that arrives in Sweden are usually placed in homes for care and residence, called HVB. It is the municipality's responsibility to provide adequate care and protection for the children. The aim of the study is to examine how a workgroup on a HVB home for unaccompanied children is working to meet the needs of the children, and how the workgroup improves the children?s integration process. The study also aims to examine the emotional labour of the workgroup, which illustrates how they can manage their own emotional behavior when working with the unaccompanied children.The study is based on a qualitative approach with detailed descriptions of five semi-structured interviews with the workgroup and assistant managers.

Äldreomsorgen utgör i dag den största delen av Sveriges kommunala vård och omsorg och antalet äldre ökar i snabb takt. Samtidigt utsätts denna sektor för ständiga krav på nedskärningar och besparingar. Mot bakgrund av denna situation ökar också kraven på att verksamheten ska organiseras effektivt. Men vad som utgör en effektiv organisation inom omsorgssektorn är ingen självklarhet.Syftet med uppsatsen är att ur ett organisationssociologiskt perspektiv ta reda på vad effektivitet kan innebära för personal och chefer i en äldreomsorgsenhet samt att titta på vilka effektivitetssatsningar som görs inom enheten.Uppsatsen bygger på en kvalitativ studie med djupintervjuer. Materialet har analyserats utifrån olika organisationsteoretikers syn på effektivitet.

Tutor: AlfSundin. ?Implementation of a job guarantee for young people. - A study on the struggleagainst unemployment at the municipal level?The purpose of this dissertation is to examine if municipalities could affect theimplementation of labour market policy measures to reduce unemployment among youngpeople.

The purpose with this essay is to look at how categories of "us" and "them" are created, reproduced and categorised. The areas of politics and media are in focus, though they are powerful and influential actors in generating discourses.The method is qualitative analyses of current research and analyses of discourses, contexts and resources from an intersectional perspective. Intersectionality presents a theoretical tool for complex understandings of power as it takes its point of departure in an understanding of power as multidimensional and one where gender, ethnicity and class are constitutive and bearing principals. Intersectional analyses aim to understand how these dimensions are created and changed in relation to each other and how they interact with specific gender orders in specific contexts.The analyse shows that "immigrants" are in a subordinate position compared to "Swedish" when it comes to resources, contexts and discourses. The analyse indicates the relation of power between "us" and "them", where "us" have the power and with that preferential right of interpretation in discourses, contexts and resources.

The project was carried out in cooperation with the department of product development IOS at IKEA. The work included improvements of a new existing product that Ikea soon will release on the market, Observatör, a wall bracket for flat screens. The product is supposed to fulfil the needs within this market for IKEA. However, since Ikea was not satisfied with it, our work was to carry out the improvements that were specified in the beginning of the project. Another task in the project was to develop a side-product that is supposed to be used together with Obeservatör for storage of DVD/decoders.The project included labour as problem definition to final technical drawings and a prototype.

Peat litter has been used in animal houses for a long time. Because of its good ability to absorb liquid and nutrients from the manure it can create a dry surface for animals and a valuable manure product. Through changes in agricultural practises the use of peat litter has diminished and is to a great extent replaced by straw, sawdust and cutter shavings although Sweden is rich in peat-findings. The aim of this work was to summarize the presented knowledge about the used of peat litter, techniques, advantages and disadvantages and to compare with other commonly used litter materials. Articles on peat litter have been searched for in magazines, databases and books at SLU library. Visits to peat industries, interviews with peat producers and with peat researchers contributed to the material. Peat is not a uniformly material.

This report is the result of a project in the course Independent Projekt in Molecular Biotechnology at Uppsala University during the spring of 2014. The foremost purpose of the course is to give students the opportunity to carry through exstensive work in a project environment. This project was formed based on a comission from the biotechnology company SweTree Technologies, and the goal has been to compose a summary of the different techniques and methods that exist in the field of mass propagation of trees through the method of somatic embryogenesis.The project group has obtained information about the area mainly throgh reading patents, trying to find key components and bottlenecks in other companies? somatic embryogenesis technologies. This paper is divided into different sections, containing the patents of the automation of different steps in the process.

Uppsatsen behandlar ämnet om hur diskursen om övervikt skapas och vidmakthålls med specifikt fokus på hur detta görs i tv-programmet "Du är vad du äter". Bakgrunden till uppsatsen hämtas från den rådande samhällsdebatten om fetma och övervikt och syftar till att dels se hur man genom att representera en viss grupp människor kan synliggöra och vidmakthålla en diskurs och dels att ifrågasätta en social norm i vårt samhälle. Den teoretiska ansatsen hämtas inom kultur och diskursanalysen men även från sociologiska teorier om kroppen och kroppens symbolik. Teorier om tv som analysobjekt tillämpas också. Analysen belyser och diskuterar överviktens diskurs samt hur kroppsideal skapas.

Lagförarbeten intar en unik position i Sverige vid en jämförelse med andra rättsystem genom sin starka ställning bland de andra rättskällorna. Sverige är antagligen det land där lagförarbetena åtnjuter starkast ställning i världen. Varför Sverige är så annorlunda är en fråga som det inte har reflekterats över eller diskuterats om i någon större utsträckning i den offentliga debatten. En intressant frågeställning som aktualiseras angående förarbeten är emellertid frågan om maktdelning mellan den lagstiftande, verkställande och dömande makten, dvs. riksdag, regering och domstolarna.

Uppsatsen är en litteraturstudie av befintligt material och befintlig statistik som har gjorts under de senaste 10 åren och som avser den sociala snedrekryteringen. Ändamålet med denna typ av undersökning är att se om, och i så fall vilken effekt den sociala snedrekryteringen har haft när det gäller antalet invandrare till högskoleutbildning. Med invandrare menas utrikesfödda som är folkbokförda i Sverige samt de som är födda här men som har båda föräldrarna födda utomlands. De socioekonomiska grupptillhörigheter betraktas som en allmän faktor dvs. för hela studentgruppen oavsett etnicitet, detta för att se om det har inträffat någon förändring under det senaste decenniet även i detta avseende.Av statistiska uppgifter och andra fakta framgår att det har skett en ökning av rekrytering av invandrarstudenter de senaste tio åren.

This thesis intends to examine the role of the city, Dublin, in the Irish economic growth during the 1990s. It is a case study where Dublin is compared with current theories on post modern cities as growth machines and increasingly prominent actors in the global context. The study has an interdisciplinary approach but focuses on political science issues such as power distribution, global-local governance and local political organisation. It is a theory driven study that also intends to add aspects to the understanding of the cities of our time. I argue that Dublin has faced a lot of changes during the last decades in accordance with the post modern city.

The structural rationalization of rural firms in Sweden has led to many new creative ways of developing companies. The agriculture sector is characterized by the need of capital in form of buildings, labor and inventory. The rationalization process has led to free capacity in rural firms when new technology make buildings and inventory not longer necessary for the production process. To get a better cost coverage this free capacity can be used to start-up new business areas that help the rural firm to growth.The study aims to identify factors that motives entrepreneurs in rural firms to develop new business areas. The purpose is also to analyze driving forces that lies behind development of rural firms and the forces that support or not support development in rural firms.The study is built upon five cases that all can be categorized as firms with different size and orientation.

The aim of this study is to examine social workers? experiences of how the ADHD-diagnosis affects their work with children and youths living in foster care and how it affects the individuals and families themselves. The study is built upon five qualitative interviews and the results are analyzed through a theoretical framework that constitutes ADHD as not only the symptoms and the medical disorder but also as a social phenomenon where the disorder is socially constructed by the current society, norms, and knowledge. The study shows that the social workers? do not rely on the sole ADHD-diagnosis in the understanding and guidance of the children and their foster parents, but rather see the individual needs of each children.

Syftet med forskningsrapporten är att undersöka hur kvinnor över femtio år använder en universitetsutbildning i formandet av sin framtidsstrategi. För att besvara våra forskningsfrågor har vi genomfört både en kvantitativ och en kvalitativ undersökning. Den kvantitativa undersökningen utgjordes av en postenkät som sändes till 30 kvinnor vid Linköpings universitet. Den kvalitativa metoden bestod av tre intervjuer med slumpmässigt utvalda respondenter från enkäten. Slutsatserna är baserade på våra resultat från enkäterna och intervjuerna samt den litteratur vi valt med anknytning till rapporten.
