The aim of this study is to examine what Social workers consider as ?challenging behaviour? among adolescents, but also to examine the connection between investigation and intervention in cases where such behaviour is being displayed. The questions of the study are to examine what Social workers think of the instrument of assessment BBIC (Children?s Needs in Focus) and how the usage of BBIC affect Social workers understanding of challenging behaviour. Moreover, it is a qualitative study and the respondents are all Social workers with various length of professional experience who work with making decisions in juvenile welfare cases.

The purpose of this study was to examine how some Social workers in Sweden describe the social work with unaccompanied children. Emphasis was on the role of culture in social work with the unaccompanied children. I wanted to examine how the Social workers describe their view on social work with unaccompanied. I also wanted to examine how the Social workers describe their view at their own and the unaccompanied children?s cultural backgrounds influence on the social work with the unaccompanied.

The purpose of this study was to examine Social workers apprehensions about institutional placement of youths and what determines when these proceedings are used. When research not always shows that institutional placements lead to positive changes for youngsters, we wondered how Social workers act on their assessment to institutional placement. We wanted to find out if the Social workers meet any dilemmas along the way. To find out about that we used qualitative interviews with ten Social workers, who worked in social service and came from different places in the southern parts of Sweden. To analyze our material we used the theory of human service organization and street-level bureaucrats work situation.

"Det är ju inte förvaring" : en jämförande studie om socialarbetares inställning till institutions- och familjehemsvård för barn och unga i Belgien och Sverige

The purpose of this essay was to examine and compare what attitudes Swedish and Belgian Social workers may have towards residential care and foster care for children and young people. To answer the purpose eight qualitative interviews with four Swedish and four Belgian Social workers were made. The results were analyzed by theory of organization and professional acting space. The results of the study show that the Social workers in both countries preferred foster care, especially for small children, and that the Swedish Social workers had a more negative attitude towards residential care than the Belgian Social workers. Even though the Belgian Social workers preferred foster care, they found themselves forced to choose residential care due to lack of available foster care facilities, something that did not seem to affect the Swedish Social workers.

The aim with this study is to see how Social workers apprehend the law, support and service for persons with certain functional impairments (LSS) and the application. We interviewed six Social workers in six different municipalities to get a distribution between small and big municipalities. In the study we have used a qualitative method with half structured interview questions, since we wanted to get a comprehension for the Social workers apprehensions. We have used a communication theory and a role theory in the study. The result showed that the Social workers consider that the LSS is important, but that there are a few difficulties in the application.

Relationens betydelse i klientarbetet inom missbruksvård : En kvalitativ studie utifrån ett socialarbetarperspektiv

The purpose of this particular study was to examine the client relationship as described by Social workers during the ongoing process of addiction treatment in conjunction with the effects on creating these relationships as affected by government stipulations. As a basis for the study, qualitative interviews were conducted with five separate Social workers in the course of their work within addiction treatment. Results from the study were analyzed by means of power and dramaturgically roll theory. The Social workers stated that it was of the utmost importance to create a good relationship in order to effectively help the client. The Social workers further stated that a good relationship was characterized by the virtues of cooperation, trust, and confidence.

Lately, alarming reports have appeared regarding the work environment and work situation of Social workers. Research focusing on the promotion of health and well-being in the workplace among other professionals show that factors such as social relationships, ability to influence their work situation and leadership are important. A quantitative study was conducted focusing on the work climate for Social workers employed by some of the district administrations in the City of Malmö. A questionnaire with questions and statements on various factors in the work environment was sent to 34 Social workers. They were asked how important these factors were for their well-being, as well as to what extent they felt that these factors were present at work.

This study aims to examine how Social workers, in the Swedish social services, perceive and interpret LVU § 3 from a gender perspective. In total eight Social workers participated in the study, attending interviews based on a vignette. From a gender perspective we wanted to found out how the Social workers define "other socially destructive behaviour" and understand their thoughts about this subject. The study aims to gain insight into how Social workers perceive their psychosocial work environment and examine whether this effects the performance of their duties. The study mainly addresses the shortcomings of the psychosocial work environment of Social Services and the implications it entails for Social workers health and wellbeing. The psychosocial work environment includes physical and psychological factors therefore the study's interpretive framework consists of organizational theoretical and social psychological concepts and previous research on the subject. We examined the organizational and social psychological connections to Social workers perception of their work environment with a qualitative approach. The empirical data was collected through interviews with four Social workers in a municipality in central Sweden using a semi-structured interview guide.

Genom socialsekreterarens glasögon : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om socialtjänstens samverkan med olika myndigheter vid en barnavårdsutredning.

The aim of this study is to understand the collaboration at a child investigation and the actions that may be encountered as a result of the investigation, based on the Social Secretaries experiences of collaboration with other agencies such as schools, police, health visitor and child psychiatry. In the study, eight Social workers from different municipalities was interviewed at a total of six occasions. One of the occasions was a group interview with three Social workers at the same time. Through the interviews, it appears that the collaboration has an important role in social work and the necessity is something that manifests itself in the social secretaries stories but also in the earlier research done in this area. The results show that Social workers extensively want to interact but that the purpose of interaction varies depending on the nature of the matter.

In the last couple of years changes in the legal systems treatment of young offenders has given the social worker more legal responsibility. In view of this, our purpose with this study was to examine how Social workers and prosecutors apprehend the role of the social worker during the legal process. The study was delimited to look into the handling of young offenders between the ages of 15 and 18 years old. The questions we intended to look at were: How do the Social workers reason when trying to see the need of a child within a legal context; Do prosecutors and Social workers experience that they have different approaches when looking at young offenders, as a consequence of their different professions; What is the opinion among Social workers considering the duty of the social services to administrate community service for young offenders; How do the Social workers argue when determining whether or not a young offender has a "special need for care". These questions were answered through empirical studies where six Social workers and two prosecutors were interviewed.
