Om patientföreningar och kunskapens kärna En kritisk realistisk studie av patientföreningar, diagnoser och vetenskap
Aims: Patient associations have been around for some time and research has shown that such associations can influence society, politics and how diagnoses are thought of. This study is a comparative analysis of two patient associations in Sweden. The first association called Attention represents people diagnosed with neuropsychiatric disorders such as ADHD. The other association called RSMH represents people diagnosed with mental illness such as depression. The aim of this study is to explore the social and political agenda of these associations and to explain their relation to biological, psychological and social models of explanation.Method and theory: The method used was a qualitative document analysis using documents produced by the associations themselves as well as documents from media and politics.

Meanwhile the internet is developing in a fast pace and social websites are increasing in popularity. The purpose of this essay was to investigate how internet banking will develop in the near future based on interviews, literature and trend studies. With web 2.0 techniques the internet bank could develop to help the costumers take more informed decisions regarding their economic situation.

This paper is based on a quantitative survey. The study aims to answer the questionwhich media young people rather use to take part of the news. The results showthat young people today in Kalmar preferably and often read newspapers on theInternet and mobile phone.The questions asked was about which media they usually use, the level ofconfidence they had in various media, how interest was in different newscategories, willingness to pay for online news and background issues relatedsubjects. The survey was aimed at high school students in Kalmar and weredistributed and collected on-site at the schools. What was remarkable among theresponses was that young people largely had access to a morning newspaper athome and said that they would consider subscribing to one in the future.

Something that all people have come across and more or less experienced is climate change. Climate change in itself is a very complex problem since there are no borders between countries that can stop the problem. The link between science and the public is largely in the hands of the media, since the media play an important role in defining environmental issues and to inform the public about research findings. In recent years, reports from the media showed a slightly skeptical and uncertain picture of this problem. This is despite the largely prevailing consensus among climate scientists that there is an anthropogenic climate change.
Vad gör biblioteken på Facebook och Twitter? En studie av fyra folkbiblioteks användande av sociala nätverk
The aim of this Master thesis is to describe why and how public librariesuse the social networks Facebook and Twitter. The focus is to study whatbrought about their use, how the work is carried out, ideas and objectivesbehind the use and what libraries actually convey on the networks. Themethodology is twofold: semi-structured interviews with responsiblepersonnel at four Swedish public libraries, and an ethnographic contentanalysis of four months of the libraries' status updates and tweets onFacebook and Twitter. The theoretical framework consists of a model forthe roles of the public library in society, and of discourses about thepublic library in media.Results indicate that social networks are used to market, make accessibleand inform of the library's resources and services. Furthermore, networksare used to communicate/interact with followers and to inspire people toread.
Hälsosamhället: En kvalitativ studie av medias påverkan på människors livsstil
Hälsa och sättet man valt att leva sitt liv på ligger i fokus i vårt samhälle idag. Detta väckte mitt intresse att studera vilken påverkan media har på vår livsstil. Media har en inflytelserik position när det gäller människors inställningar och kunskaper i området hälsa och livsstil. Mitt syfte är att få en förståelse för hur människor påverkas av medias rapporter om livsstil samt att ta reda på om media kan motivera till ändringar i människors livsstil. Frågeställningarna jag kommer att söka svar på är; Hur fungerar medias påverkan av människors livsstil? Vilken betydelse har media när det gäller val av livsstil? Det är en kvalitativ studie där jag valt att genomföra intervjuer vid insamlandet av min empiri.
Hedersrelaterat våld - Hur kan hedersrelaterat våld förklaras, och hur används begreppet i svensk media?
The purpose of this study has been to explore definitions of violence performed in the name of honor, and the conditions under which the phenomenon occurs and is upheld. Furthermore, the study aimed at exploring how the Swedish expression for violence in the name of honor, ?hedersrelaterat våld?, is used within the Swedish media. To achieve these purposes, previous research in this matter was reviewed, as well as an analysis by means of categorizing the content of news articles from two Swedish daily newspapers. Previous research has showed that this type of violence occurs foremost within cultures upholding patriarchal structures and traditions, and women?s (non-)sexuality is looked upon as being of an utmost importance for the family?s honor.
Social rekrytering ur arbetssökandes perspektiv ? en känslomässig upplevelse.
Ur ett arbetsgivarperspektiv visar tidigare forskning en alltigenom positiv bild av rekrytering via sociala medier, vilket kan förklara dess ökade popularitet. För en arbetssökande däremot kan social rekrytering upplevas som ett hot mot integriteten, eftersom personlig information exponeras för arbetsgivaren. Syftet med denna enkätstudie var därför att öka kunskapen om arbetssökandes inställning till och emotionella upplevelse av social rekrytering utifrån demografiska aspekter. Resultatet från de icke-parametriska testerna visade på en något ambivalent inställning, men med positiva förtecken. Ett samband framkom mellan upplevd nytta och den generella inställningen, men även ålder hade en inverkan på attityden.
"Alla känner alla" : En studie om musikbolags relation till media
The purpose of our study has been to analyze the character of the interaction between music labels and media and to examine to what extent the artist brand is being considered in music labels relationship with media. This has resulted in our research question:What characterizes the large music labels relationship with media?For this study we have used a qualitative approach to achieve a deeper understanding of our chosen topic. We have conducted seven interviews with representatives from both major record labels and media companies with great knowledge about our subject. Five of the interviews were conducted face-to-face and two were performed via e-mail.In the final chapter we answer our research question and thus present our conclusions.

Styrelsen och samhällsansvaret - En studie om hur styrelsesammansättningen påverkar CSR-prestation i svenska börsbolag
The composition of the board of directors and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are two widely researched subject and discussed by the media. This study aims to examine the impact of the board of directors' composition on CSR performance among the largest companies listed on Nasdaq OMX stock exchange 2008 in Stockholm, Sweden. A linear regression analysis is applied to investigate the relationship and evidence is found that board attributes have an effect on CSR performance. Among these; the size of the board, outside directors and employee representatives all have a positive impact on environmental performance. Furthermore; female, outside directors and employee representatives have a positive impact on social performance.
Hedersrelaterat våld : En studie om socialarbetares förståelse av hedersrelaterat våld
After the honor killings of Fadime and Pela, an extensively discussion started in the media, debating honor-related violence and oppression. This debate also made us, the authours of this paper, to pay attention to the problem. As a professional in social work, there are several good points to be made by having an in-depth knowledge in the field, both to discover individuals exposed to honor-related violence and to be able to protect them. The study was conducted by four qualitative interviews with professionals in social work with a professional experience of honor-related problems. Through the interviews, the social worker's view of honor problems emerged.
