This thesis has been carried out at the Department of Urban and Rural Development at SLU Ultuna during the spring semester 2009. The topic of the paper is how energy consumption can be influenced through design and if the conditions for good design decreases when solutions based on energy efficiency are used. The report is divided into one literature study and one part where energy efficient solutions are used in a design. The thesis work has its origin in a project called "Energihus i Uppsala." The planned building will be a center for energy research in Uppsala. The project aims to demonstrate to the public what is currently happening in research related to energy.

Det här är en uppsats i pedagogik om förberedelseklassen, vars syfte är att undersöka om det är positivt eller negativt för invandrar- och flyktingbarn att gå i en förberedelseklass, och även modersmålets påverkan på förberedelseklassen. För att få en inblick i vad en förberedelseklass är börjar uppsatsen med en bakgrundshistoria och fortsätter sedan den med att gå in lite närmare på några områden. Dessa områden är trauma ? krigsupplevelser, den första tiden, överslussningen, modersmålet, samarbete med föräldrarna och lärarrollen. Metoden består av två undersökningar, den första handlar om modersmålsundervisning där fem elever intervjuas i förberedelseklassen och en diskussion med två modersmålslärare.

Various problems with nail disorders have been noticed in the Swedish population of Giant Schnauzer, but the frequencies of these problems are unknown. This could be due to the fact that bad nail quality has several differential diagnoses and lack of diagnostic criteria and diagnostic codes for nail disorders. The main purpose of this study is to review different types of claw defects and diseases of the nail bed in dogs, and to classify and evaluate the proportions in the Swedish Giant Schnauzer population. The nail is a specialized part of the skin. The quick will strengthen and protect the third phalang against the surrounding.

Background During the child?s first year of life there is a continuous contact with the Child Health Services (CHS) and the parents feel confident and involved. After the first year, the visits to the CHS is reduced at the same time as the everyday life changes for the family as the child starts going to day-care and the parents often go back to work.Aim To examine what it is like being a parent to children aged one to five and what kind of parenting support parents of children aged one to five are in need of.Method Semi-structured interviews were used to interview 25 parents in 21 telephone interviews and one focus group with 4 parents. The recruiting of parents was done on site at one open day-care and with the help of CHS nurses in Sweden. There were 10 men and 15 women.

Access for disabled people in the outdoor environment is an important and accurate issue for landscape architects. The demands on public places are increasing and the aim is that everyone should be able to use the environment and be a part of the society. To enable this, landscape architects must put and extra effort to their design. This report shows examples from Uppsala Travel Centre where different ways of travelling meets in one place and many people pass on a daily basis. The area is newly built and should thereby represent modern solutions that enable access for disabled people.

Huvudämnet för uppsatsen är små barn som utsätts för våld inom familjen. Syftet är att undersöka hur ett antal verksamheter i Göteborgsområdet som vänder sig till barn som utsatts för våld inom familjen, arbetar med barn i åldern 0-6 år. Syftet är även att jämföra dessa verksamheters arbetsmetoder och utbud av hjälp och stöd till små barn, i relation till relevant forskning. De frågeställningar som varit aktuella är:o Vilka erfarenheter har de yrkesverksamma av att arbeta med små barn (0-6 år) som blivit utsatta (eller bevittnat) våld inom familjen? o Vilka behov av hjälp och stöd har små barn som utsatts för våld? Enligt de yrkesverksamma? Enligt relevant forskning och teori? o Hur ser utbudet av hjälp till små barn som utsatts för våld ut i Göteborgsområdet?Studien genomförs genom kvalitativa intervjuer med yrkesverksamma från sex olika verksamheter i Göteborgsområdet som riktar sig till barn som utsatts för våld.

The report also presents possible solutions to prevent the occurrence of defects. It also covers the issue of how the client looks at Peabs way to overcome the objections of warranty inspections. The report has the following issues:?What are the most common errors observed during the warranty inspection??What are the causes of complaints??What can be done to reduce the number of complaints??How the customer thinks that the complaints be addressed?Twenty-five Guarantee survey records from the projects Peab has done in recent years has been the starting point for the investigation.

The object of the thesis is to propose a new lighting plan for the square Fyristorg in Uppsala, and to describe the process which have led to it. It all started when I choosed the place together with the municipality of Uppsala. I have been doing research and analyzed how the place and it´s existing lighting works both during different times of the day and also in the evening. After researching the place and it´s existing lighting I´ve decided to put up the following goals fot the new lighting design. 1. The general light level of the place shall be experienced as higher than today. 2. The light level of the place shall be adapted to the light levels of surrounding places. 3. The lighting shall be free from glare. 4. The lighting shall be adapted to people passing by. 5.The lighting shall be adapted to the surrounding architecture. 6.

Cerebellär abiotrofi är en sjukdom som drabbar ett flertal olika djurarter och innebär en degeneration av purkinjecellerna i lillhjärnan. Eftersom lillhjärnan är den del av hjärnan som styr finmotoriken kommer tillståndet att ge upphov till att finmotoriken försämras kraftigt. Hos häst är det främst arabhästen som drabbas men även hos raser där arab korsats in för att förfina linjerna dyker sjukdomen upp emellanåt. En häst med denna defekt kommer att verka helt normal vid födseln men symptomen uppträder relativt tidigt oftast mellan sex veckor till ett halvår efter födseln. Symptom som en drabbad häst uppvisar är bl.a. ataxi och muskeltremor, främst då i halsmuskulaturen.

Strandskyddsproblematiken är startskottet för detta examensarbete. Det är en problematik som har sitt ursprung i strandskyddslagen, en lag som funnits i Sverige sedan 1950-talet. Lagen har alltsedan dess uppkomst väckt en rad känslor, den är både omdiskuterad och omstridd. På senare år har diskussionen om strandskydd blommat upp på nytt, det i takt med att kraven på strandnära boende har ökat samt att lagen har tolkats olika. Det har resulterat i att lagen idag står inför en förändring.

It has become increasingly common for cities and municipalities to take greater account of the place marketing, and to see the physical location as a brand. An early step in this process is to make the image measurements of the place, in order to develop better marketing strategies. A method often used in tourism research for this type of measurements is Etchner and Ritchie's theoretical framework. The framework is initially designed to measure visitor's image of a tourist destination.Almost all previous research in this area is based on the visitor's perspective, but Olofsson and Skredsvik have used this framework to measure a location's image among the residents. They feel that the residents of a place can be seen as ambassadors of the place because they know the site well.

Vi har fått i uppdrag av enhetschef Viveca Ekdahl-Lindgren vid kvinnokliniken på Sahlgrenska universitetssjukhuset, att undersöka hur stöd och behandling av patienter som utsatts för våldtäkt ser ut. Syftet med uppsats är att beskriva metoder för hur man som kurator kan arbeta med de psykosociala konsekvenser som inte sällan efterföljer en våldtäkt. För att uppnå vårt syfte har vi följande frågeställningar:1. Vilka blir de psykosociala konsekvenserna för de kvinnor som varit utsatta för våldtäkt?2. Hur kan man som kurator arbeta med dessa konsekvenser?Uppsatsen är en kvalitativ studie där vi genomfört fyra intervjuer med kuratorer inom hälso-och sjukvården. Vi har även genomfört en litteraturstudie för att inhämta kunskap som ett komplement till våra intervjuer samt för att bli mer insatta i vårt forskningsområde.

The Swedish boreal forests are limited by nitrogen (N) availability. While biological N2 fixation by cyanobacteria hosted by pleurocarpous feather mosses are important sources of N input to natural boreal forest ecosystems, little is known about the patterns of N2 fixation in silvicultural systems. This study investigates the biological N2 fixation rates of two boreal feather moss species (Pleurozium schreberi and Hylocomium splendens) along a chronosequence from clear-cut to mature forest, as well as the vegetation characteristics along the chronosequence. Measurements and samples were collected from 32 forest sites that were classified into four age classes (clear-cut, pre-commercially thinned, thinned and mature forest). The sites were located near the city of Arvidsjaur in northern Sweden.

From the customer?s perspective the only reason for a firm to exist is the value it creates. However, a problem within manufacturing companies is that of the total lead time, only a small part can be considered as value adding. It has further been discovered that when working with improvements businesses often sub-optimizes single processes instead of considering what benefits the entire company. Thus, when improving processes and activities it is important to have knowledge about and understand which factors that affect how the flow can be designed.Several studies have been performed with a wide perspective on process flows in order to obtain a more resource-efficient and value added flow.
