Intern materialhanteringsutveckling på Kongsberg Automotive AB

This examination report is a part of a program for Industrial organisation and Economics with specialization in Logistics and Management at Jönköping University. The report contains an analysis of the internal material handling at Kongsberg Automotive, and also an improvement proposal for a new material handling system.The aim with the report is to find a better material handling system and also make an analyse of the existing system. The goal is to shorten the distance for the operators when they order material, and also to increase the productivity.The investigation methods for the report have for the most part consisted of observations and interviews of key-persons who daily work in the production. During some time the actual material handling-system has been observed and some shortcomings have been discovered, and these are also discussed in the report.The shortcomings that have been discovered are for once the indistinct Signal that should Signal need of material in the production. Some other activities have also been discovered that does not bring any value into the final products.

Kombinerad DSP- och FPGA-lösning för en bildbehandlingsapplikation

This Master's Thesis describes the design of a new system where a digital Signal processor has been added to an existing imaging system consisting of field programmable gate arrays. The new system will offer a higher degree of flexibility by considerably shortening the design time and make it possible to implement more complex algorithms than the existing ones. The choice of system architecture and a test implementation are discussed. The test implementation consists of a program for the digital Signal processor and VHDL code for one of the field programmable gate arrays. The code for the digital Signal processor was designed for testing on an evaluation board from Texas Instruments.

Filter och kapsling för IR-givare

This paper describes the work done trying to diminish the noise present in the Signal from an IR-detector. The project was aiming towards two different kinds of applications; heat protection and presence detection. The hypothesis was that the Signal-noise ratio would decrease if a filter and a proper installation were used for the detector. Some experiments were executed to determine what kind of filter were the most suitable for each application and how these could be installed. After executing the experiments and evaluate the results we recommend to use a specific filter for each application.

Theory has concluded that consumers evaluate advertising not only based on what the advertiser's message aims to communicate, but also how the message is communicated. As the most popular activity on the world's largest social media channels is to upload and share photos, it has become crucial for advertisers to define strategies that maximize the reach of photo posts. Two observed variations of images used in posts are graphical images and digital photographs. The aim of this study is to investigate which of these two strategies that generate most positive impact on the sender and its brand. 230 users of the Chinese Facebook and Twitter counterpart, Sina Weibo, were exposed to manipulated Sina Weibo posts after which they answered a survey.

Påverkas stereotypt vandrande hos amurleopard (Panthera pardus orientalis) vid ökad förutsägbarhet i samband med utfodring?

Stereotypic pacing is frequently observed in captive carnivores, however the underlying causes of this behaviour remain somewhat unclear. One of these possible causes are unpredictable feeding Signals, which may give rise to frustration and subsequent pacing. Animal keepers at Nordens Ark had noticed that their Amur leopards had shown stereotypic pacing in connection to the passing of ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) used by animal keepers primarly when feeding the animals in the park. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the stereotypic pacing of the two Amur leopards at Nordens Ark were affected by the introduction of a Signal associated with feeding. The leopards were trained by classical conditioning to associate the sound of a siren with the delivery of food by an animal keeper.

Volvo Human Monitoring (VHM) is an ongoing project at Volvo Cars where they measure, amongst other parameters, inhalation and exhalation through a device called Respiratory Inductance Plethysmograph (RIP), on drivers. RIP measures changes in the cross-sectional area of the chest and abdomen. When the driver is in motion, such as when she is turning the vehicle, the cross-sectional area changes and noise in the RIP Signal may arise.The noise results in a large number of manual adjustments in the analysis of the RIP Signal, which is very time consuming and the validity of the device for measuring inhalation and exhalation is questioned.The purpose of this study was to improve the efficiency of the analysis of the RIP Signal. The goal was to create a new data processing tool in Matlab that automatically detects inhalation and exhalation from a RIP Signal with higher validity compared to the previous data processing tool.In this study, nine tests were performed on drivers while they were driving in different scenarios such as highway, country road and in city traffic. Inhalation and exhalation was measured using a RIP, a pneumotachograph with a tightly sealed facemask and a thermocouple placed between the nose and mouth, which was used as reference to the RIP.The result of this study was a data processing tool that automatically detects inhalation and exhalation with higher validity compared to the previous data processing tool.

Karaktärisering av hästerns gångarter med accelerometerteknik

In today?s horse keeping, there is an increasing awareness of the importance of movement and activity for the horses comfort and tenability, while tradition has it that horses should be kept in boxes and small paddocks. In order to develop housing systems that fulfils and optimizes the horses needs regarding movement and activity, we need to know more about factors that influence the activity patterns of horses. A first step is to be able to record and analyze the gaits in horses with an automated system. This could be done by use of accelerometer data.In this pilot study, existing accelerometer technique was used to characterize the different gaits in horses (walk, trot and canter) by studying how their respective Signal patterns differ and how this is influenced by the size of the horse.The accelerometers being used in this study measures the movement in three different spaces; horizontal, lateral and vertical.

Karakterisering av bioslam för modellering av biogasproduktion

The report aims to investigate how well a certain type of affordable embedded single board computer can hold up against today's more expensive computers in a computer system by doing various tests on a system with the specified requirements. The system has a Raspberry Pi as the single board computer which task is to control a camera based on coordinates obtained from a server as well as capture and stream a video Signal on a network.The researches were conducted to check how much network traffic a single-chip computer sent in different video formats and how much CPU utilization was required. Studies were also made to ensure the accuracy of the camera control. The researches have been experimental, where several tests have been performed and analyzed.The results show that a sufficiently good accuracy can be obtained from the camera steering unit, in which two different servos have been investigated. When the video format MJPEG and H.264 are used, the single-chip computer is able to transmit a video Signal up to 1280x720 at 15 fps.

Trådlös överföring av mätsignaler

Målet med examensarbetet var att ett trådlöst mätdatainsamlingssystem ska tas fram för att ersätta det trådburna insamlingssystem som idag används vid FOI i Bromma, vid mätning på vindtunnelmodeller. Projektet innefattar konstruktion, inköp, dokumentation, test och utvärdering. En del i projektet är att utvärdera ett nytt CAD system för kretskortskonstruktion.Enligt framtagen kravspecifikation konstrueras ett Signalkonditionerande kort som förstärker, balanserar och filtrerar insamlad Signal samt ett processorkort som digitaliserar och skickar konditionerad Signal trådlöst till mottagande del.Prototypen som projektet resulterar i, uppfyller de krav och specifikationer som FOI hade på det nya systemet, dvs. analog Signalkonditionering, digitalisering och tvåvägskommunikation. Systemet har med sin enkla funktion påvisat att lösningen är realiserbar och att den fungerar.

Styrning av portabelt luftfilter

Målet med detta examensarbete var att utveckla en fungerande prototyp för styrning av ett portabelt filter med varvtalsreglering och tidräkning. Om möjlighet fanns, skulle även tillval som tryckstyrning, gasindikering och flödesmätning göras. Dessa tillval kunde regleras med hjälp av fyra knappar. För att allt skulle vara lättare att hålla under uppsikt, kunde alla inställningar och värden ses på en LCD-display. Konstruktionen består av en mikrokontrollerstyrd elektronikkoppling med extern realtidsklocka för drifttidsräkning.

System för avlyssning, modifiering och överföring av analoga signaler

I detta examensarbete har ett system utvecklats som samplar och digitaliserar en högfrekvent analog Signal och lagrar de samplade värdena i ett minne. Systemet genererar en analog utSignal genom att antingen direkt omvandla de samplade värdena eller genom att använda sampels lagrade i minnet som källa för omvandlingen. Det går då att använda systemet både som en passiv länk eller som en Signalkälla.En triggfunktion har implementerats för att på ett effektivt sätt ge möjlighet att fylla minnet med för användaren intressanta delar av en Signal. Arbetet går även ut på att undersöka om ett FPGA-kort av typen Stratix II DSP Development Kit är ett lämpligt utvecklingskort för att ta fram en prototyp av systemet. Kortet har undersökts med avseende på olika begränsningar för det utvecklade systemet, till exempel vilka frekvenser en inSignal kan samplas i.Ett annat användningsområdet för systemet är möjligheten att få alla sampels lagrade på kortet presenterat i en textfil på en ansluten PC.
