This study is about how changed light conditions induce dormancy in plants. It is divided in two parts. First a literature study where quantification of light, the concept dormancy, photoperiod and light quality are discussed. Second an experimental part, where the importance of light for sprouting capacity in root buds of perennial sow thistle (Sonchus arvensis L.) is investigated.In the science in how flowering in plants are induced the concepts short day/long day plants and light dominant/dark dominant are well-established. These concepts can also be applied to how light induce dormancy in plants.

I Jönköping har problemet med översvämningar, erosion och materialtransport varit ett stort problem i Strömsbergsbäcken i Jönköpings kommun. Detta har tillviss del orsakats av ett ökat dagvattenutsläpp i bäcken, vilket skapar kraftigaflödestoppar då den ursprungliga fåran inte är ?dimensionerad? för den ökadevattenmängden. Syftet med arbetet är att effektivisera ekologisk dagvattenhantering i stadsmiljö med högt dagvattenutsläpp. Målet med arbetet är i sin tur att framställa underlag för hur ekologisk dagvattenhantering i stadsmiljö kan genomföras och att rapporten skall kunna ge värdefull kunskap till liknande sammanhang.

The purpose of this study is to highlight the maritime students' views on and visions for their future career. The results will be used by maritime academies, ship owners and unions to develop their activities in the desired direction and work together for a well-functioning labour market in shipping in the future. To determine the students? views and visions, interviews were conducted with graduating students at the maritime academies in Sweden. The results show that the reduced Swedish merchant fleet worries students, but that the majority is positive about finding a job after graduation.

The intention of this study is to investigate possible excitation on dogs due to buprenorphine treatment. The reason for it to be about buprenorphine and not any other opioid is due to its relevance being one of the most popular opioids in animal care, as well as the authors own experience with what seems to be buprenorphine induced excitation in her own dog. The study consists of a literature review and an internet based survey containing thirty questions sent out to twelve animal clinics and animal hospitals. Significant agitative effects on behavior has been found in studies on horses, sheep, goats, rats and mice, but no one shows the effects of buprenorphine on dogs. The literature on opiod effects on dog behavior seems sparse.

70 % of the lakes and waters in the water district of northern Baltic Sea do not reach the requirements for good ecological status. This is mostly due to eutrophication caused by a too high deliverance of nutrients from agricultural land or effluents. Losses of particulate phosphorus through water erosion contribute to a great extent to this eutrophication. In the action plan for the water district cover crops are mentioned as a measure for reducing losses of phosphorus from arable land. This paper reviews the possible effect of cover crops in the water district and discusses what crop that would be most suitable.

Mitt examensarbete är uppbyggt med fokusering på fyra delar. En utförlig litteraturstudie där jag skriver om begreppet erosion, en sammanställning av en intervju, en översiktlig växtbeskrivning av fem växter som kan användas som erosionsskydd samt en resultatbeskrivning där jag redovisar inventeringar som jag gjort på tre åar i södra Skåne.Min litteraturstudie har utgått från svensk, engelsk, tysk och amerikansk litteratur, det har varit en utmaning att finna svensk litteratur inom ämnet. En del litteratur finns om vattenerosion längst vår svenska kust, men den berör bräckvattenväxter och salttåliga växter, vilka jag inte alls använder mig av i mitt examensarbete.Min inventering har jag gjort under hösten och vintern 2006 och 2007, samt vår och försommar 2008.De åar jag har okulärbesiktigat är Saxån, Höje å och Kävlingeån. Jag har inventerat en sträcka på 100 meter, där ån har benägenhet att erodera.Jag har dokumenterat platserna där erosion har kunnat påvisas. Sedan har jag gjort en mer grundlig inventering av växtbeståndet på platsen.

Underhållskostnaderna är stora för råkvarnskrets 8 och i denna rapport utreds möjligheterna att göra besparingar genom ett nytt materialval. Vid valet av material tas hänsyn till nötningsbeständighet, pris och livslängd hos både material och maskin. Nötningsbeständigheten beror av duktilitet, hårdhet, dämpningsförmåga, med mera.
