To get rid of our dependence on fossil fuels we need to make use of renewable energy sources like wind power to a greater extent. Even though wind power is a renewable energy source it can still cause some problems for the close environment. One of the problems is shadow flickering. When the sun is low and the wind blows in a direction so that the rotor blades are positioned at right angles to the sunbeams and ?cut? the sunbeams off.

Det finns många faktorer som påverkar hur svårlöst en konflikt är. Vi undersöker en av dem, nämligen skuggnätverken, genom att titta på kausalsambandet mellan skuggnätverk och staters olika uppbyggnadsprocesser. Begreppet skuggnätverk är en adaption av Nordstroms ?Shadows? ? det vill säga ekonomiska och politiska länkar som på både lokal och internationell nivå rör sig utanför de statliga direktiven. Genom att studera skuggnätverkens utbredning i fyra afrikanska länder: Sydafrika, Kongo, Angola och Sierra Leone, ser vi de effekter som de har haft på de ekonomiska, politiska och sociala områdena i respektive länder.

City of Malmö has ambitions for the district Hyllie to become a demonstrative area ofsustainable urban development. As a part of this the following report aims to investigate the potential in using noise barriers combined with photovoltaics along Annetorpsvägen to generate solar electricity. To quantify the losses that Shadows from buildings along the roadmight cause, a 3D-model of the area was constructed in SketchUp. This digital model made it possible to simulate Shadows and how they change over the year. A reference model of a photovoltaic noise barrier (PVNB) was constructed and used to find the dates on which the solar cells are shadowed depending on building heights and positioning of the barrier.The results show that two lengths with a total distance of 400 meters is appropriate for applying photovoltaic noise barriers.

Intermodulated force microscope (ImAFM) is a type of dynamic AFM. ImAFM opens up possibilities for mapping the topography and making quantitative determinations of material parameters at the same time. With increased information the need to generate more informative images of the sample emerges. In this Bachelor's degree project I have created tools for rendering images of a sample. The topography is plotted as the height and a material parameter is color coded on topography.

The current debate about environment and climate change has contributed to more andmore investment in alternative energy sources such as wind, solar and biogas. The Swedish Parliament has set the target that wind power should supply 10 TWh in 2015.In Sweden, wind power establishment began in the early 1980s. Since then the development has gained a tremendous momentum. The purpose of this study was to find out what problems wind power brings and what power relations that exists in connection with wind power establishment and how the landscape is affected by windpower construction, focusing on some cases in Falkenberg and Varberg. This study shows that wind power establishment is a very complicated process.

This essay examines through a sociological perspective how physical objects in Ted Kooser?s poetry collection "Delights & Shadows" can be used to depict the characters? social environment. This is done by examining the physical objects found in 25 poems, the relationships between subjects and objects, and how this relationship can describe the social environment. The essay also examines how the relationship between subjects, objects, and the presence of the social environment within the text affects the reader experience. The physical objects are examined with Bill Brown?s Thing Theory as "things" that stop working for humans, when their flow within the circuits of production and distribution, consumption and exhibition is arrested, however momentarily.

The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding and discuss safety aspects in two stairwells on Nyforsgatan in Eskilstuna, where the buildings were built during the years 1965-1975. I have presented a proposal for improvement through lighting. I have through different methods, such as surveys, interviews, literature studies and observations, come to a conclusion: that there are opportunities for improvement through better lighting that allows orientation in space and creates a nice atmosphere which will remove the feeling of not being safe, e.g. dark corners and Shadows. It has been an exciting process to gather enough of facts to rely on and to develop the lighting design for the environments.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka vad och hur tv/datorspel förmedlar om historia och hur tv/datorspel kan kopplas till historiedidaktik genom att visa vad man kan lära sig av det. Med historia avser jag inte en korrekt återgivning av gångna handlingar. Jag inriktar mig istället på hur tv/datorspel använder sig av historiebruk för att motivera spelarens normhandlande.Den huvudfråga jag ställer i detta arbete är:Vilken koppling finns det mellan historiebruk i spel och spelarens historiemedvetande? För att besvara denna fråga tog jag hjälp av två underfrågor. Jag börjar med att besvara den första underfrågan:Hur mobiliseras ett historiemedvetande i tv/datorspel? Kan man utveckla ett historiemedvetande genom att spela tv-datorspel? Min analys visar att historiemedvetandet mobiliseras genom berättelsen, berättartekniken och gameplay:en.

  Jag minns när man som liten var på besök hos mormors föräldrar i deras lägenhet i Sundbyberg. I vardagsrummet eller salongen hade de en figurin i glaskupa, där satt jag alltid och stirrade, försvann in i fantasins värld, iakttog scenariot med musicerande män i peruk och den sirliga färgrika vegetationen. Figuriner avbildar oftast människor eller djur, noggrant utarbetade, i en idealisk värld. Ett fryst ögonblick där allt är i harmoni, stråkarna ljuder och rusdrycken flödar i salongen, bönderna drar sina kärror och skördar glatt, människor och djur lever i symbios med varandra och naturen. En skönmålning som både innehåller och saknar problematik men är samtidigt en intressant tradition där jag kan frossa i referenser och uttryck, kitschiga motiv och inkonsekventa koncept. .

This project was about the creation of a shorter computer animated film. Thegoal of the project was to explore a different technique of the visual outcomethat should not rely on photorealistic rendering and how to find new interestingways to use 3d-graphic for visuals. A big part of the project was also toincorporate music to create a chosen atmosphere and impact on the viewer butalso to help the story forward and questions such as; ?How can you create anexpression for the feeling you want to transmit?? were formulated. The scenewas built up in a 3d-application consisting of a house and surrounding garden,which within an character was animated to tell the plot.

Körsimulatorer är idag en mycket viktig resurs för att utföra studier med fokus på förarbeteende. Så väl full kontroll överscenario och miljö som kostnad och säkerhet är aspekter som gör det fördelaktigt att utföra simulatorstudier gentemotstudier i den riktiga trafiken.Ett problem med körsimulatorer är att bilden projiceras på en tvådimensionell skärm, vilket begränsar förarens förmåga attuppskatta avstånd och hastighet. Det är allmänt känt att avstånd och hastighet underskattas i körsimulatorer.Målet med examensarbetet var att hitta metoder som kan ge förbättrad avståndsbedömning i körsimulatorer och underprojektet implementerades och testades rörelseparallax samt skuggor, med största fokus på det förstnämnda.I slutet av projektet genomfördes ett simulatorförsök för att utvärdera effekten av rörelseparallax. Tio försökspersoner fickgöra två körningar vardera i VTI:s Simulator III-anläggning, den ena med rörelseparallax aktiverat och den andra meddetsamma inaktiverat. Scenariot som utspelade sig under körningarna innehöll ett flertal omkörningssituationer samt etthastighetsuppfattningstest.Resultaten från simulatorförsöket visade att försökspersonerna tenderade att placera sig längre från mittlinjen närrörelseparallax var aktiverat i de situationer som sikten skymdes av framförvarande fordon..

This essay examines the way the recurring motifs in Karin Boye's poetry might be read as expressions of queer or subversive desire. The fact that the lyrical I is not gendered in the poems opens up for a queer reading. In adherence to Sara Ahmed's notion of desire lines and sexual orientation I discuss the spatial aspects of desire, and explore the positions and movements of the lyrical I in Boye's poetic landscape as deviations from the concept of the straight and marked path, into the queer and unknown.I trace desire in Boye's poetry mainly through the themes of nature and night, and the ways in which these phenomena deviate from the normative structures laid out by the poems. Usually the motifs of night (such as fog, Shadows and darkness) are associated with the fading of the senses. The night obscures the vision of the lyrical I and wraps them in heavy silence, making them experience and desire in new ways. Through motifs related to nature Boye formulates a feminine, matriarchal myth.
