A qualitative study about professionals in human service organizations description of self-injurious behavior.Supervisor: Ann OttengrimAssessor: Rickard Ulmestig The purpose of this study has been to understand how professionals in human service organizations (HSO) describe self-injuries behaviour, how they describe the individuals that self-harm and if the professionals describe any possible differences in how men and women self-harm as well as how professional?s knowledge concerning self-injurious behaviour is contructed. The study answers three questions;- What kind of actions do professionals in HSO describe as being self-injurious behaviour?- How is knowledge constructed by professionals in HSO concerning self-injurious behaviour?- How are people who engage in self-injurious behaviour being described?- How do professionals in human service organizations describe potential differences between men and women´s self-injurious behaviour? Qualitative interviews have been chosen as the method in this study to gather empirical data and the social constructionism theory has been implemented to analyse the empirical data.The result of this study shows that self-injurious behaviour is a complex and at the same time a dynamic phenomenon. There are a lot of different actions that are being describes as being self-injurious behaviour.

Bakgrund: Övervikt är ett internationellt hälsoproblem. Tidiga insatser av barnhälsovården är betydelsefulla och kan förebygga och förhindra framtida komplikationer.Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva distriktssköterskors erfarenheter av att stödja familjer med ett överviktigt barn till en mer hälsosam livsstil.Metod: Kvalitativa intervjuer genomfördes med åtta distriktssköterskor inom barnhälsovården i södra Sverige. Analysen av intervjuerna genomfördes med en metod för kvalitativ manifest innehållsanalys.                  Resultat: Studiens resultat redovisas i tre kategorier: ?Relationer mellan distriktssköterskor och föräldrar?, ?Betydelsen av föräldrarnas insikt och vilja att förändra? samt ?Stödja familjerna till hälsosammare matvanor och motion? . I studien framkom att föräldrarnas insikt och vilja att förändra samt motivation var avgörande för att en förändring till en mer hälsosam livsstil skulle ske när ett barn var överviktigt.

Otitis externa is a disease regularly encountered in veterinary practice. It is estimated to be the most common disease in the external ear canal of dogs and treatment is often delayed due to unfortunate pet owner ignorance. Owners tend to assume that scratching of the ears and head shaking are natural behaviours in their dog and may be neglecting the problem unknowing of how severe it actually is. A literature study has been carried out to examine the causes of otitis externa in order to present a collection of measures that can be used in the treatment and prevention of the disease. In turn these measures can be advised to the dog owner and used in the home environment to make the best qualifications for healthy ears in the dog. The causes of otitis externa have been divided into predisposing, primary, secondary and perperuating causes.

Övervikt och fetma är ett växande folkhälsoproblem som medför risker för att utveckla sjukdomar som hjärtsjukdom, diabetes och ledbesvär. En ökning av övervikt och fetma ses även hos barn och studier har visat att barn med fetma löper högre risk att drabbas av sjukdomar senare i livet. Vinster finns i att arbeta förebyggande mot övervikt, både på individ och på samhällsnivå. Skolsköterskan har en viktig roll i detta preventiva arbete. Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva skolsköterskors preventiva arbete mot övervikt och fetma hos barn i låg- och mellanstadiet samt uppfattningar om och reflektioner kring detta arbete.

Background: Infectious Diseases Institute points out that the potential of various viraldiseases possibly can block each other. It is said that the virus that causes common cold,Rhinovirus, may have saved many people from the flu. If this assumption proves true, itwould explain why some viral diseases in some countries have been slow to take off and pointto a new way to struggle influenza. Objective: The main purpose of this study, based onreported cases of RSV and influenza type A, type B and H1N1, investigate whether viraldiseases can block each other, i.e. difficult season of flu may delay and / or mitigate thespread of RSV in Sweden.

Bakgrund: Antalet personer med fetma ökar i Sverige. Fetma ökar risken för flera sjukdomar. Forskning kring hur patienter med fetma bemöts inom vården är bristfällig i Sverige. Syfte: att beskriva attityder och bemötandet av patienter med fetma inom hälso- och sjukvården, utifrån sjuksköterskestudenters upplevelser. Metod: Deskriptiv och empirisk med en kvalitativ ansats.

Phenylbutazone has been discussed in the world of the equestrian sport several times and different countries have diverse opinions on its use in competitions. The progressive list that permits phenylbutazone with plasma levels up to 8 µg/ml was presented at the FEI General Assembly in November 2009. The list was voted to be accepted, but later several countries realized the consequences and after protests the list was rejected and is going to be discussed again at the FEI General Assembly 2010. In this literature study I have studied the relationship between the concentrations of phenylbutazone in plasma and the effects on lameness. The purpose was to establish whether the limit of 8 µg/ml phenylbutazone in plasma affects the equestrian sport.

The world is currently facing a huge severe challenge in handling the issue of climate change. One of the ways to lower the green house gas emissions, which is seen as one of the main contributor to the climate crisis, is to use renewable technologies such as for example photovoltaic (PV) systems. PV-systems are also suitable for so called micro production, small scale energy production facilities, since it can be placed on practically any rooftop with the right solar conditions. In Sweden the usage of PV-systems has not yet gotten any wider spreading, even though the solar radiation conditions are very similar to countries that produce a lot of solar energy, as for example Germany. The aim of this paper is to describe non-adopter perceptions of PV-systems. The study holds a qualitative approach using deep interviews for data collection.

The aim of this study was to examine the experience, knowledge and attitude to mandatory reports of mistreatments amongst first line managers and assistance nurses in municipal elderly care. The following questions were at the center of the analysis: how do the different professional groups view having to report their own organization? How can various factors affect the mandatory reporting of mistreatments? What knowledge do the different professional groups have of mistreatments and mandatory reporting? A qualitative research method was used to examine these questions in the form of semi structured interviews and a small document study. The interviews were carried out with assistance nurses and first line manages in elder care, we interviewed four respondents from both professional groups. The interviews were then transcribed and coded with help of a content analysis.

Kenya is a country of 35 million people and is situated in Eastern Africa. 70% of thepopulation works within the agricultural sector and for many of them food insecurity is amajor problem. Maize and beans are today the staple food for many households. Goodfarming conditions enable two harvests per year and a potential maize yield of 4-5 tons perhectare.A major problem for many farmers in this area is the increase of the weed striga. The weedcauses severe yield losses, and has a major economic impact on smallholders.

The relatively new phenomenon of daily deals has had an amazing explosion of growth during recent years. The concept relies on offering deeply discounted products and services that a number of customers must buy in order to acquire this discounted service. Companies spend valuable resources on marketing to get customers but the effects of daily deals on the brand do not have empirical evidence. What is the customers' attitude towards companies that communicate through daily deals How is their intention to buy from that company affected This is what is the main purpose of this study. To examine how customers perceive a company, in terms of attitude toward the brand and buying intentions, when the company markets through daily deals compared to more traditional promotion.

Självstigma hos personer med allvarlig psykisk störning behöver undersökas med tanke på att den psykiska ohälsan ökar. Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur självstigma påverkat individer med allvarlig psykisk störning. Studien utfördes som en litteraturstudie och resultatet utgjordes av tre kategorier: Att bli sin diagnos, Att känna skam och Att känna hopplöshet. Självstigma påverkar personer med allvarlig psykisk störning genom att försvåra förutsättningarna till återhämtning. Kombinationen av en allvarlig psykisk störning och självstigma skapar negativa konsekvenser utifrån individens egna stereotypa och fördomsfulla föreställningar.

Uppsatsen syftar till att ge en allmän beskrivning av den grupp som kommer till rättspsykiatrisk undersökning samt att utreda gruppens förändring över en period på sju år. Variabler som behandlas är kön, invandrarbakgrund, diagnos, brott och påföljd. Uppsatsen som är en kvantitativ studie, kan ses som ett inlägg i debatten kring den allvarligt psykiskt störda brottslingen.Uppsatsen är en retrospektiv registerstudie utifrån ett medicinskt kriminologisk perspektiv. Materialet består av 4466 stycken rättspsykiatriska undersökningar mellan åren 1998 och 2004 och inhämtades från Rättsmedicinalverkets centrala arkiv. I resultatet framkommer att personlighetsstörningar i allt mindre utsträckning anses utgöra en allvarlig psykisk störning.

Syftet med litteraturstudien var att beskriva barns, föräldrars och andra vuxnas tankar om barns kost, fysiska aktivet, övervikt och fetma. Syftet var vidare att beskriva vilken vägledning föräldrarna får av vårdpersonal. Sökorden som användes var child, children, childhood, obesity, prevention, health promotion, information, results, primary care, perceptions, care, nurse, qualitative, quantitative, fetma, övervikt och barn. Resultatet baserades på sju stycken kvalitativa artiklar, tio stycken kvantitativa artiklar samt en litteraturstudie som söktes i ELIN@Dalarna, www.google.se, www.fhi.se och på www.sbu.se och som därefter granskades av uppsatsförfattarna. I denna litteraturstudie framkom att barns inställning till mat och fysisk aktivitet är beroende på deras ålder.
