How do you summarize the content of a fictional work, let?s sayLord of the Rings, into a few "telling" words that may represent it? This master?s thesis is a comparative study of how library users? freely chosen tags/keywords deviate from controlled vocabulary made by professional indexers when representing fiction. The thesis answers four main questions:? Do the tags that the library users give fictional works correspond to the categories used in professional indexing in Sweden?? Do the tags follow the standards for vocabulary, semantics and syntax used when indexing professionally?? Do the tags add something to document representations?? Are there differences between the tags used for adult fiction and the tags used for children?s literature?With a starting point in indexing theories of Frederick W. Lancaster, Annelise Pejtersen, and the semiotic theory of the indexing process of Jens-Erik Mai, 383 tags from totally 70 fictional works are analyzed.

This thesis is a discourse analysis of six rape trials, with the intention to analyze how the plaintiffs?? resistance is described. The overall aim is to investigate whether there are forms of resistance that the courts find more desirable and if there are any rules for how resistance should manifest itself. I will also investigate how the rape is itself described by the plaintiff and courts, respectively. I will analyze how this affects the understanding and attitude toward what has happened.

An analysis of a specific application of anaerobic wastewater treatment at a pulp and board mill, Stora Enso Skoghall, was carried out. A literature study was done and effluent wastewater from CTMP pulp production was analyzed. The analysis consisted of a broad constituent analysis and an anaerobic treatment trial. This revelation resulted in a great deal of controversy and sparked a national debate on the issue of ethnicity and public registration in Sweden. The purpose of this essay is to examine sfi (Swedish for immigrants), which is an ingrational-political tool with objective of teaching immigrants to read and write in Swedish. With the use of critical discourse analysis we examine the discursive practices within sfi. We also examine our methodological and theoretical approaches, and our application of them. Our research questions are as follows:? How are the discursive usage of ?person centered? and ?society centered? expressions being used?? How well does our methodological and theoretical resources work?In our theoretical viewpoint we use ?post colonial theory?, which is a perspective concerned with global power relations seen from a historical perspective.

Vi har skrivit detta arbete med syftet att ta reda på vilka attityder några lärare och elever har till olika typer av mediala texter. Metoden vi valde att använda oss av var intervjuer. De intervjuade var dels åtta elever i årskurs 4-6 och dels tre lärare som undervisade i samtliga av dessa årskurser Vi kom fram till att böcker är den medieform som används mest i undervisningen men att även andra medier, speciellt film, tycks vara någonting som lärare och elever vill ha mer av i undervisningen. Dessa medier har, under undersökningens gång, visat sig användas på olika sätt och med olika syften, till exempel brukar film användas när ett nytt tema introducerades. Intervjuerna visade att samtliga informanter uppskattar en varierad medieanvändning och anser att det på olika sätt gynnar inlärningen. De slutsatser vi kunnat dra efter att ha analyserat det inspelade intervjumaterialet är att olika typer av mediala texter förvisso värderas högt av både lärare och elever, men användningen av dessa speglar inte alltid dessa värderingar.
