Skriftbruket hos två elever på yrkesförberedande program: En skriftetnografisk undersökning

This essay elucidates upper Secondary students? literacy practices, (literacy events, literacy competencies and literacy culture) during a typical day, with focus on the daily literacy practices. A literacy ethnographic study conducted in the environment which participants naturally are, at home, at school and in leisure. The study is inspired of a project, Skriftbruk i arbetslivet, ´Literacy Practices in Working Life´, that conducted by Anna-Malin Karlsson, Per Ledin and Olle Josephson, in collaboration with Vetenskapsrådet ´Science Council´(2002-2004).The result of this study shows that students from professional preparing programs not use such literacy competencies that been tested in traditionally reading comprehension test, particularly much. However, do they read a lot during the literacy practices day by television, computer and mobile phone.

Hur påverkas högstadielevers studier av klass och kön? : Skolprestation, studieval och attityder till skolan i en kommun belägen i Norrlands inland

How do gender and socioeconomic backgrounds affect students? academic performance, educational choices and attitudes towards education? Moreover, does class play the same role for girls and boys? In order to find this out, I surveyed students in a small province located in the northern inlands of Sweden. The survey was answered by nearly every student in the ninth grade of that year, a total of 160 people. The results revealed that girls in this area have less faith in their capabilities than boys, despite getting much better grades. Many more girls than boys want to go onto college or university studies.

Glosträning eller lässtrategier? Lärares syn på läsning i gymnasieskolans språkundervisning

Abstract The aim of this study is to find out how teachers view the importance of reading in the teaching of foreign languages. In relation to this, we wish to gain understanding of what teachers want to achieve with reading, how they choose texts and what difficulties they encounter in getting their students to read. Six teachers from three different upper Secondary schools in southern Sweden were interviewed for the study. We also examined the text-materials that they were using for their instruction. The findings show that students read mostly adapted texts from textbooks and, to a limited extent, authentic materials.

Registrering av konstbilder: En översikt av forskning och praktik i en domänspecifik form av kunskapsorganisation

The purpose of this thesis is to present a review of research themes and practice in the field of art image registration. The objectives of the review are twofold. The primary task is to distinguish which problems, in regard to theory and practice, that have been dealt with in the field of art image registration and the Secondary task is to investigate which discursive, institutional and tool-related factors have had an impact on theoretical discussions and practice in the art image domain. The empirical content in the review is structured according to four epistemological viewpoints and is analyzed with a domain analytical approach. The result of the study is that two major problems are frequently discussed in the art image domain, namely lack of standardization and which discourse is the best suited for registration of art images.

Varför får allt fler elever problem att nå målen i engelska i år 9 och år ett på gymnasiet? Why does an increasing group of pupils not pass English in year nine and in year one in upper secondary school education?

Syftet var att i en litteraturstudie undersöka eventuella hinder för optimal postoperativ smärtlindring av barn 6-12 år gamla samt undersöka vilka postoperativa smärtlindringsmetoder som används på barn 6-12 år gamla. Litteraturstudien bygger på elva artiklar som kvalitetsgranskades. I resultatet presenteras de faktorer som påverkar barns postoperativa smärtlindring i fyra kategorier: sjuksköterskans medverkan i barnens postoperativa smärtlindring, föräldrars medverkan i barnens postoperativa smärtlindring, barnens upplevelser av postoperativ smärtlindring och hinder för optimal smärtlindring. Resultatet av litteraturstudien visar att det fortfarande är svårt att smärtlindra tillräckligt då det finns ett stort antal hinder för den postoperativa smärtlindringen, exempelvis sjuksköterskors okunskap, otillräckliga ordinationer, tidsbrist och sjuksköterskornas bakgrundsfaktorer. Resultatet belyser även att föräldrarna har en stor del i barnens sjukhusvistelse och smärtbehandling..

This paper is a literature study on search engine optimization (SEO) considering the leader of the search engine market: Google. There´s an introductory background description of Google and its methods of  crawling the Internet and indexing the web pages, along with a brief review of the famous PageRank algorithm. The purpose of this paper is to describe the major important methods for improved rankings on Google´s result lists. These methods could be categorized as on-page methods tied to the website to be optimized or off-page methods that are external to the website such as link development. Furthermore the most common unethical methods are described, known as ?black hat?, which is the Secondary purpose of the text.

Maskulinitet i läromedel. En kritisk diskursanalys av en lärobok i religionsämnet

This study indicates that research about men and masculinity does not appear to have advanced as far as research about women and femininity. Similarly to attitudes concerning women and femininity, clear norms and attitudes regarding men and masculinity pervade society. Hence, there is a clear need for further research within this field to be carried out. This study, with the support of previous research, looks at gender norms which exist in educational material and the impact it might have on students. Against this backdrop, the author has focused the analysis on one textbook as educational material at upper Secondary level with particular emphasis on masculinity and its associated norms.

I valet och kvalet : Vilka variabler upplever lärare sig behöva ta hänsyn till i valet av de skönlitterära inslagen i svenskämnet i gymnasieskolan?

Följande rapport behandlar intervjuer av åtta svensklärares idéer om vad de känner sig måste ta hänsyn till i sina val av skönlitterära inslag i svenskämnet på gymnasieskolor i Stockholms norra kranskommuner. Undersökningen anlägger ett sociologiskt perspektiv på de praktiserade urvalstekniker som framförs och diskuterar intervjupersonernas upplevelser med utgångspunkt i Pierre Bourdieus teorier om kapital, habitus och fält. Resultatet av intervjuerna visar att pedagogernas litterära kanon genomgående utgår ifrån vem eleven är, vilket syfte undervisningen har, lärarens tidigare erfarenheter liksom dennes förväntningar på elevens tillgodogöranden av undervisningen. I efterord diskuteras eventuella konsekvenser av sådana strukturer och studien avslutas med förslag på vidare forskning. .

Förslag på litteratur till gymnasieskolans byggprogram : Suggested literature to secondary school of the Construction Programme

Orsaken till mitt ämnesval för detta examensarbete uppkom på grund av att den teoretiska delen i byggutbildningen på den skola där jag arbetar ofta uppfattas som tråkig och meningslös. Detta arbete är ett försök att skapa ett nytt teorimaterial för byggprogrammet som eleverna skall kunna använda för att ta till sig den teoretiska kunskapen på ett effektivt och pedagogiskt sätt. I denna kurs så ingår det att eleverna skall kunna utföra enklare praktiska byggövningar, få kännedom om lite olika byggmaterial, olika byggtekniker samt ekologiskt byggande. Detta arbete tar också upp vad man skall tänka på när en pedagogisk facktext skall skrivas. Teorimaterialet i detta arbete är en handledning i hur man kan bygga en lekstuga.

The purpose of this essay is to study seven different school counsellors? way of working and collaborating with students with an ADHD diagnosis. The informants we met come from different high schools in southern Sweden. The study is based on a qualitative approach and the primary knowledge was established through semi-structured interviews. The Secondary knowledge is accounted for the form of previous research and theories.

The aim of this paper is to examine why Swedish teachers and multilingual Secondary   school pupils think it is important to read fiction, how Swedish teachers work with fiction in the multicultural classroom and how they motivate their multilingual pupils to read more by adapting fiction to their capabilities and experiences. We have done interviews with four Swedish teachers and 12 multilingual pupils. The following questions are the starting point of this essay:Why do Swedish teachers and multilingual pupils think that it is important to read fiction?  ?How can the Swedish teachers in the multicultural classroom motivate their multilingual pupils to read more fiction?The result of this paper showed that both the Swedish teachers and the multilingual pupils thought it was important to read fiction because it partly gives themselves the opportunity to acquaint with other cultures and it helps them to improve their language. The teachers motivate their multilingual pupils by reading out loud, reading in groups and by minimizing language difficulties that may occur in the fiction.

Genom kunskaper om historien förstår vi nuet : En kvalitativ studie om gymnasieelevers uppfattningar av historieämnet

The purpose of this survey is to better understand how students in Swedish upper Secondary school perceive knowledge in history. 44 students from two different schools took part in the survey. The students partaking were asked to make a rough plan for a course in history, in which they were to both suggest contents of the course and also motivate their choice of content by arguing their view of the purpose of knowledge in history. The results of the survey were then compared to the curriculum of the history subject. The survey shows that a majority of the students asked find modern history, especially World War 1 & 2, and Swedish history to be of importance.

The purpose of this study is to examinehowdemocracy andstudent participation hasbeen developed inthethree curricula for upper Secondary school. To find this out, I have used the following questions:?Howare the conceptsof democracy and student participationformulated in the various curricula Lgy70, Lpf94 and Gy11? ?What changes with regard to these formulations have been made between the curricula Lgy70, Lpf94 and Gy11?The essay is written so that I have interpreted my empirical material to make a discourse analysis in which I analysethe three curricula of upper Secondaryschool with the intention to highlight how the ideal of student participation was supposed to look like. The source material that I use in the essay arethe three curricula;Lgy70 , Lpf94 and Gy11 .Student participationhas had a major role in allthecurricula,but ithas changed in how it was madeand how it would be implemented. Lgy70stresses thatformal and collective participation is important, but there are indications of ashift to a more personal and informal participation forthe students.
