In studying the art of Counterinsurgency Warfare we are usually inclined to the reading of several books regarding this matter. Because of this some writers have the power to influence the minds of the reader. This can be of great benefit since it enables information sharing and for the reader a chance to learn from the triumphs, but also mistakes of others. However each writer is the creation of the time and context under which he existed. Because of the wheel of time certain things change, and because of the context a myriad of factors came into play affecting the outcome and product of the doings and thoughts of that specific occurrence.

At night, the visibility is reduced and the demands on the driver increase. A safety system that enables the driver to discover warmer objects in the surroundings when the visibility are reduced, such as the Vision Enhancement System (VES) contributes to safer night-time driving. Since the benefits of this system are established, it is of interest to investigate different design aspects. The VES display has in earlier studies been positioned in front of the driver but different display positions such as peripheral placement should be evaluated. The present simulator study is an investigation of the effects of different display positions inside the car.

Vehicle simulators are becoming more common in vehicle industries. Company earns lot of money on simulations instead of real tests. Real tests are necessary but not made so extensively as before.In this thesis the building of an vehice simulator will be described and a comparison between three different cruise controls. The three cruise controls are PI-regulator, a regulator who regulates after positions in the terrain and a MPC-regulator. The reason for choosing this three is to see the difference between simple regulation and more complex regulation with respect to fuel consumption, travel time and complexity.The vehicle simulator is made in Matlab/Simulink, Visual Studio and Open Scene Graph.

Getrag All Wheel Drive i Köping tillverkar i huvudsak transmissioner till fyrhjulsdrivna bilar.De har sett en besparingspotential om det är möjligt att sluta tillverka ett mätplan på pinjonghuvudets ovansida, detta används för att mäta in pinjongläget vid slutmonteringen av växlarna.I perioder har det uppstått kassationer på grund av slipbränningar på mätplanet men en stor del av besparingen ligger i kortade bearbetningstider. En önskan har även varit att det skall gå att få en ökad toleransvidd i monteringen för att minska antalet justeringar av monterade växlar.För att utreda om det skulle vara möjligt att ta bort mätplanet har ett antal koncept arbetats fram för att utvärderas gentemot de kriterier som måste uppfyllas.Konceptet med störst potential valdes ut med hjälp av olika jämförelsemetoder.Studien visar att det finns en möjlighet att bestämma pinjongläget genom att mäta i dubbhålet.De ändringar som måste göras är:- Ny mätstation vid inmätning av pinjonglägesshims där tjockleken påpinjonghuvudet mäts.- Ny meshingstation där pinjongen orienteras med hjälp av ett lagrat kontrollvärdeistället för att lokalisera med hjälp av mätplanet.- Ny kontrollstation för inmätning av pinjonghöjd där det måste gå att lokaliseraväxelhuset för att kompensera för lutningen på grund av att det inte går attmäta rakt under röraxelns centrumlinje.Möjligheten att helt utesluta mätmetoden bör undersökas.

The E-department at GETRAG All Wheel Drive in Köping have problems with the efficiency on parts of their production equipment. The equipment with the most significant efficiency problems are four automated multifunctional production cells that produces housing for rear drive units. The major part of the problem is the large amount of small stops that causes the low efficiency.The department already worked with logging of interruptions and efficiency calculations before this project started. However this work was not done to the extent considered necessary for a systematic follow-up of the interruptions.The aim of this paper is to point out a more effective and systematic way to work with logging of interruptions and the follow-up. In addition the equipment were studied with a method for efficiency calculation that ? if used properly- is a more powerful and a visually better method than the one used by the company today.As the initial current state analysis of the equipment was made a lack of documented knowledge about the equipment was discovered.

Studien är en undersökning om hur olika delar av konsumentbeteendet bland applikationsanvändare ser ut. En applikation är ett program eller en tjänst som tillför en ny funktion i mobiltelefonen. Studiens syfte och problemformulering hur olika delar av konsumentbeteendet ser ut och utifrån det ta fram den typiske applikationsanvändaren. Som teoretisk referensram används en bearbetad version av Peter & Olsons (2008) Wheel of consumer analysis som vi kallar konsumenthjulet. Konsumenthjulet består av affekt och kognition, konsumenters omgivning och beteende.

Kontrollernas funktioner och styrsätt förklaras i basis för få en inblick istyrenheternas kommunikationssätt. Kontrollerna som tas upp grupperas därefter i olikarörelsemoment. En enkätundersökning kompletterar och stärker bilden över könsskillnader,åldersgränser, speltimmar, genre kategorisering och framtida behov.De problem som finns när det gäller kommunikation är att de inte är tillräckliga när manspelar. Oftast så är användare ute efter att ha en verklighetskänsla samt få en inlevelse ispelen.Dokumentets syfte är att ta reda på vilka kommunikativa metoder som finns och kontrolleraom de är tillräckliga för att uppnå denna inlevelse i spelen.För att kunna tackla problemen så görs det en omvärldsanalys i arbetet samt en positivistisktolkning av resultatet.

When farm animals are transported there are several factors that can affect their welfare. If the vehicle has an accident the welfare of the animals transported will probably be compromised. The aim of this study was to make a survey of accidents with animal transportation vehicles in Sweden. The survey included the number of accidents from January 2000 to May 2014, the cause of the accidents and how the animal welfare was affected by the accident. The authorities which were likely to have reports about accidents involving animal transports were contacted. There were no collected records about transportation accidents and the authorities referred to eachother for information.

Earlier investigations showed that damages on timber from feeding rolls could be within the lower classes of damage according to VMRs classes. Knowledge about differences in productivity between kind types and aggressive types of feeding rolls is necessary because it should influence the question about damages on timber caused by different feeding rolls. In this study the production and timber damage in a harvesting head were evaluated at three levels of pressure (8, 10 and 14 MPa) on the feeding rolls, and with three different types of rolls. One type, the rubber cushioned steel plate roller had 10 mm studs and rubber damping, one ?middle? type made of solid steel with 14 mm studs, and one aggressive type, also made of solid steel with 18 mm studs.

This master thesis was carried out at Scania in Södertälje, Sweden. It investigates the possibility of changing a connector interface that is used when there is a need for splicing the wheel speed sensor and thereby determine the consequences.The problems that exist with the current connector interface occur during assembly, as more time is required to complete a connection in a reliable manner. A complete connection requires joining the male and female connector, insert the connection into a protective retainer and then strap a cable tie on each end of the retainer. This process makes it more time consuming and it requires 20-30 seconds to complete the connection. Solving this problem would save time and enable easier assembly, therefore resulting in economical benefits.This thesis was accomplished through discussions with different sections at Scania, studying available documentations, observations during assembly, writing a requirement specification and contacting suppliers.The aforementioned methods resulted in four connector suggestions, the DT and DTMH connector from Deutsch, MCON connector from TE connectivity and MLK connector from Kostal, each of them compliant with the set demands of the surrounding environment.

The purpose of this master thesis is to construct a steering transmission, for a trackedvehicle, containing two hydraulic circuits which are connected. The steeringtransmission should be mechanical to avoid steer-by-wire.BAE Systems Hägglunds has in an earlier study examined a system with two hydraulicpumps and one hydraulic motor, but the safety of the system wasn?t sufficient.To achieve sufficient redundancy there must be two hydraulic motors, which arecontrolled separately. When the two systems are connected in one point, this point is acritical part of the system because it directly affects both circuits. If one of the hydrauliccircuits fails the other should be able to operate independently as a steeringtransmission.

Arbetet syftar till att undersöka möjligheten att med hjälp av moderna arbetssätt få en arbetsgång med ständiga förbättringar inom anläggningsbranschen. Sökandet sker med hjälp av litteraturstudier kring ISO 9000 och LEAN samt studiebesök vid två företag, Hauler&Loaders Arvikafabriken (Volvo Wheel Loaders AB) samt PartnerTech Karlskoga AB. Detta är företag som under tid arbetat med dessa frågor och som nått goda resultat.Det framkommer att ISO 9000 är mycket öppet och inte detaljstyrande men att det finns vinster att hämta genom nyttjande av standarden. Kunder får en bekräftelse på att företaget i fråga har uppnått en god lägstanivå och det certifierande tredjepartsföretaget kan under externa revisioner hjälpa till att förbättra kvalitetssystemet. LEAN däremot är mer handfast även om det precis som ISO 9000 innehåller en stor del vision och filosofi.Studiebesöken har mynnat ut i ett flertal handfasta arbetsmetoder redo att anpassas för tester inom anläggningsbranschen.

The outdoor environment at Children's hospital, the University Hospital, Uppsala, is used by sick children at the Children's hospital, their families and the hospital staff. The staff at the Children's hospital wanted to render the site more attractive and available. This graduation thesis is a proposal about how the outdoor environment at the Children's hospital can be improved. The aim is to design an environment for the sick children, their families and the hospital staff that will serve as a place for relaxation and privacy, as well as for play and movement. In order to find support for the redesign of this site I read literature about theories concerning healing environments, healing gardens, children's play and designs for children.

Good comfort for the driver of a construction machine is crucial. Gearshift comfort is an important part of the total comfort. Volvo Construction Equipment Components has a simulation environment of the powertrain, SimPow, which is implemented in Matlab/Simulink. SimPow is mostly used for simulation of control strategies and performance. In order to be able to study gearshifting comfort, Volvo has an interest in developing new models for SimPow.

Problem Vad är grunden till att ett företag outsourcar vissa delar av sin verksamhet? Är skälen rent ekonomiska eller finns det andra faktorer som väger tyngre? Vad vill företagen ha av sina leverantörer? Vilka konsekvenser uppstår och hur hanteras de? Syfte Syftet med uppsatsen är att ur ett ledningsperspektiv belysa orsakerna till outsourcing samt de konsekvenser som förenas med outsourcing. Syftet är vidare att belysa det köpande företagets syn på leverantörsförhållandet och hur köparen utövar kontroll över den outsourcade verksamheten. Metod Uppsatsen bygger på sju intervjuer som är fördelade på de fyra fallföretagen Akzo Nobel, Pilkington, Trelleborg Wheel Systems och Tetra Pak. Våra intervjupersoner ingår i företagens ledning eller har tjänster nära ledningen.
