SyfteSyftet med denna studie var att klarlägga om det finns något samband mellan anterior knälaxitet, mätt med KT-1000, och "funktion i sport och fritid" respektive "knärelaterad livskvalitet", enligt Knee injury and Osteoarthrits Outcome Score (KOOS), 6-8 månader efter en främre korsbandsrekonstruktion. Ett annat syfte var att studera om det föreligger någon könsskillnad avseende dessa parametrar.MetodDenna undersökning är baserad på ett prospektivt insamlat registermaterial från Svenska korsbandsregistret samt från Capio Artro Clinic´s IT-register avseende patienter som genomgått främre korsbandsrekonstruktion med hamstringsgraft.Urvalet av patienterna (18-35 år) gjordes konsekutivt under åren 2010-2011 bland de ortopedkirurger som gjort flest antal operationer under denna period, vilket kom att omfatta 427 patienter. Baserat på inklusions- och exklusionskriterier kvarstod 100 patienter. En powerberäkning visade på behov av 58 patienter, 29 män och 29 kvinnor. En jämn fördelning, mellan män och kvinnor gjordes genom lottning.

Joint-related diseases including hip dysplasia (HD) and elbow arthritis (ED) can in advance cases lead to that the dog has to be put down, and these diseases are also the cause to expensive veterinary treatments of many large breeds, including Labrador Retrievers. The aim of this study was to make a follow-up study on the 271 Labradors, who previously participated in a study on the effect of nutrition and exercise on hip and elbow status in a birth cohort born year 2000. That study investigated the relationship between nutrition, exercise, and HD and ED. A follow up study on the same dogs at 5-6 years of age investigated the clinical effects of the radiological hip and elbow status at 1 years of age and if was effected by body condition score. This study took place in 2011-2012 and 187 Labrador retrievers participated.

I have always lived around mines and around people work­ing with mines. They are a natural part of my life and, inev­itably, a great interest of mine. When time came to make a decision for a degree project, focusing on the mine context felt as natural as breathing.In LKABs underground mines, safety in fire accidents is a great priority. Of outmost importance for the escape is to have a personal gas filter for filtration of smoke and/or gas. My design project resulted in a concept which is aimed at shortening the user journey from the start of the accident until the user has applied the personal safety solution and is ready to escape.Throughout the project I?ve been working with a context which is heavily regulated, and all problems are serious, important ones.

Today 70 percent of the world's sand beaches are under recession due to erosion. The global warming may have the effect upon the sea level increasing and the erosion increasing on the sand beaches. To save these sand beaches, the erosion must be prevented. Coast erosion shelters like gabions and sea walls are functioning extremely well to protect the land behind the sand beach, but due to the wave reflections, created in front of these so called hard erosion shelters, the erosion of the front beach is accelerated. During the last decades, artificial sand supply (beach nourishment) has been the adopted praxis.

Every year, KTH participates in the Shell Eco Marathon, a competition whose goal is to design a vehicle that can go as far as possible using only the equivalent energy of one liter of petrol fuel. This year, one of KTH?s contributions to this race is the Agilis prototype; a car powered by a uniquely configured HCCI-engine developed at the university. The engine is dependent of several subsystems in order to work properly, among other, systems for cooling and lubrication.Combustion engines are in need of a cooling system that reduces the heat developed during the combustion. In general, two main types of cooling systems are employed; either air cooling, where the outside of the cylinder is exposed to a flow of the surrounding air, ore water cooling, where water flows in tubes around the engine, and the heat are transferred by the water to the surrounding air through a heat exchanger.The purpose of the lubrication system is to prevent the friction that builds up in the interference between moving parts in the engine.

In musikklasser (a special musical training which focus on choral singing is offered in the Swedish compulsory school from the age of ten until the age of sixteen) teachers are working in a tradition where conventions relating to singing with children have developed in accordance with the Swedish choral tradition. In these classes, students are trained in large groups, usually around 30 students in one class. Furthermore, one teacher and 60 students is also frequent in schools with two or more parallell grades. In a large choir group, students develop their skill in choral singing, which includes the development of general musical knowledge as well as the development of the individual singing voice of each student in order for the choir to be able to interpret and perform music with a communal musical expression. Thus, the complexity in this teaching and learning setting places high demands on the choir teachers? ability to use appropriate teaching and learning strategies in order to develop the specific musical skill required in a choir.In this study, two choral teachers´ interaction with their choir class were investigated.

Bakgrund: Det är viktigt att kliniskt kunna avgöra om idrottaren är tillräckligt rehabiliterad för att återgå till full träning och matchspel eftersom otillräcklig rehabilitering är den största riskfaktorn för återskada i hamstrings. Därför skulle ett test med enkel utrustning behöva komplettera den kliniska undersökningen.Syfte: Studiens syfte är att undersöka vilket samband som finns mellan genomförandet av Nordic hamstring strength test och Asklings hamstring test utifrån skattning av smärta och obehag i samband med testen. Huruvida deltagarnas tilltro till att prestera sitt yttersta i en 90 min fotbollsmatch påverkas efter testerna samt att beskriva obehag och smärta efter testerna för spelare som varit skadad eller inte under senaste sex månaderna.Metod: 22 fotbollsspelare fick skatta sin tilltro till sin egen förmåga att prestera sitt yttersta i en 90 min fotbollsmatch samt skatta obehag och smärta med VAS i samband med testerna. Hamstring Outcome Score användes för att få en helhetssyn av deltagarnas funktion och skadehistoria kring hamstring. Spearman?s rho och Wilcoxon?s teckenrang test användes för att analysera resultatet.Resultat: Korrelationen mellan Asklings hamstring test och Nordic hamstring strength test var moderat (0,4-0,6) dock signifikant på <0,05.

In Dar es Salaam, as in many cities in developing countries, green areas are decreasing due to the fact that the growth of buildings, infrastructure and services has become a priority. As the population increases more buildings and infrastructure are needed and much of the building activity takes the form of uncontrolled settlements, which encroaches the public green space. Dar es Salaam has approximately three million inhabitants, of which about 70 percent are living in informal settlements. The aim with this study is to make a design proposal for a park and recreation area where the Msimbazi river basin in the centre of Dar es Salaam is today. The basin consist of a few playing fields, footpaths and some urban farming, but apart from this it mostly consists of unused grasslands, swamps and forests. Because it is an unsafe place and badly connected to the rest of the city infrastructure, it has become a barrier. The annual flood combined with the constant still shallow water creates a good breading ground for malaria mosquitoes.

One of many difficult issues in veterinary medicine is the assessment of an animal's experience of pain. As a licensed veterinary nurse in Sweden you are obligated by law to work by the concept of evidence based medicine. To achieve this the author of this study sees the need for standardized methods of pain assessment. A Swedish version of Short form of the Glasgow Composite Measure Pain Scale (CMPS-SF) has recently been translated and developed. Furthermore, a psychometric validation needs to be performed to ensure its validity and reliability.

Healthy calves are the foundation in order to run a profitable diary production. Being healthy as calf results in a better start in life and good growth is expected to follow. Within dairy production it becomes more common to rear calves in groups and feed them by an automatic milk feeder. The milk feeder enables for the calves in greater extent to ingest milk or milk replacer several times per day and they are also able to perform natural behaviors in greater extent. Group rearing of calves puts higher demands on the animal keepers to localize individual calves in the group pen, showing signs of illness.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka aktivitetsförmåga, symtom, smärta och tillfredställelse samt sambandet mellan aktivitetsförmågan, gipstid och antalet behandlingstillfällen hos arbetsterapeut efter tumbasartroplastik 1 till 2 år efter operation och efterföljande rehabilitering. Till samtliga patienter (n = 80) som opererades från jan 2008 till mars 2009 skickades självskattningsinstrumentet, hälsoenkäten Quick DASH samt ett frågeformulär gällande om man var tillfredställd/ nöjd med operationen. Hälsoenkäten belyser dimensioner av hälsorelaterad livskvalité och kan vara till god hjälp i det kliniska arbetet. Svarsfrekvensen i studien var 91 % och 86 % av patienterna svarade att man var nöjd med operationen. Quick DASH score räknades ut (n = 67) till medianvärde på 11,4 poäng .

The Swedish Prime Minister, Tage Erlander, made a speech on the 22 of August 1961 in which he dismissed speculation that Sweden was seeking to abandon its neutral stance and non-alignment in foreign policy with a view to requesting membership of the European Economic Community. The reason was that the EEC was supposed to have a political part where a connection with NATO should have existed. This speech led to a domestic discussion which has been called the most intense debate of foreign affairs in recent history. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the reactions of the other parliamentary parties to Erlander?s speech.

Bakgrund: Behovet av reliabla, kliniskt användbara utvärderingsinstrument för sjukgymnastinsatser inom pediatrik är stort. Studien undersöker huruvida klassifikationssystemet ICF (Klassifikation av funktionstillstånd, funktionshinder och hälsa) bidrar till detta.Syfte: Undersöka test-retest-reliabilitet för nio utvalda moment avseende ?Att gå och röra sig omkring? under kapitlet Förflyttning inom komponenten Aktivitet och Delaktighet i ICF för ungdomar med fysiska funktionshinder pga cerebral pares (CP), genom att låta ungdomarna själva och en föräldrer bedöma ungdomens funktionsförmåga.Även undersöka om det föreligger skillnader mellan ungdomarnas respektiveföräldrarnas bedömningar.Metod: Studiematerialet utgjordes av 33 ungdomar, med respektive förälder, på högstadieoch gymnasienivå, med diagnosen CP, GMFCS I-III (Gross Motor Function Classification System).Överenstämmelsen mellan bedömningstillfällena beräknades med hjälp av Spearman Correlation Coefficient samt Elisabeth Svenssons metod för stabilitet mellan två mättillfällen.Skillnader mellan ungdomarnas respektive föräldrarnas bedömningar beräknades med hjälp av Fisher?s Exact Test. Konfidensintervall och Z-score beräknades också utifrån Elisabeth Svenssons metod.Resultat: Beräkningarna avseende överensstämmelse visade sammantaget att sju av de nio momenten bedömdes äga tillfredsställande tillförlitlighet såvida föräldern genomförde bedömningen, medan så var fallet för endast tre av momenten, när ungdomen gjorde bedömningen.Beräkningar avseende skillnader mellan ungdomarnas respektive föräldrarnas bedömningar visade sammantaget signifikant skillnad för tre av momenten.Konklusion: Resultatet visade att sju av de nio testade momenten sammantaget kunde beaktas som reliabla beträffande bedömning av gång- och förflyttningsförmåga för ungdomar med CP, GMFCS I-III. Tillförlitligheten var generellt sett högre såvida föräldern gjorde bedömningen.Skillnader mellan ungdomarnas respektive föräldrarnas bedömningar förekom sammantaget för tre av momenten..

Foreign correspondence is essential for our understanding of the world and therefore it is paramount that we be aware of how it is affected by modern technology and altered economic conditions.In this study we set out to investigate the state of foreign correspondence today, in comparison to twenty years ago. More specifically we compared foreign news articles from a week in 1993 and the same week in 2013, in the Swedish newspapers Expressen and Dagens Nyheter. We chose these newspapers as we felt they each represented a different area of Swedish journalism, DN being a regular morning newspaper and Expressen being a tabloid newspaper.We looked mainly at three things in the articles: who was the writer, i.e. was the article by a correspondent, a news agency or someone else, what source was used and what part of the world was it about. We then made comparisons between both the different years and the different newspapers, as well as current and twenty years old lists of correspondents.According to the material we looked at there were some clear differences between foreign correspondence 1993 and 2013.
